things i learned this weekend:
Ok so being drunk has NOT helped me become more productive.  Hemmingway was a liar and possibly an alcoholic.  dont listen to him, i didnât really enjoy that book he wrote about matadors anyway.  dont imitate his drinking habits in an attempt to imitate his fame.  Also, i learned holding the shift key is hard and âimitateâ only has one m in it.  also i like margaritas and the word âalsoâ
Real life hero
As somebody who has an autistic relative, I canât help get angry when people âheadcanonâ autism on characters like itâs some kind of cute personality quirk and not a serious learning/social disability.
I love my brother to death and I would never change him for my own sake, but his life would be so much easier if he wasnât autistic.
Please donât treat the condition like some kind of trope, or use it as some kind of âspecial snowflakeâ token for fanfics.
If youâre going to write about it at least do your research. Not every autistic person has major sensory issues with sounds/textures/foods.
Okay no. Just⌠no.
The people who headcannon fictional characters are Autistic people like myself who relate to these characterâs experiences as similar to our own with Autism.
When I say a character is Autistic it is because I see myself in them, I see myself in media that so often wants to reduce me a troupe of a little non verbal white boy with a train set. The world is run by neurotypicals like you who want to erase us and speak over us.
The Autistic community is large and active and we speak up for ourselves. You do not get to come in here and tell us that we cannot find comfort in seeing ourselves in our favorite media.
Being Autistic in a world built for allistics is hard. Incredibly so. But I am worth so much, and capable of so much because of my Autism. (And before you get on your high horse and start preaching about my experience to me, I am not âhigh functioningâ as inaccurate as those labels are).
Also, donât you dare tell us how our symptoms work.
âI love my brother but I never want him or anyone like him to see characters like them. I love my brother but itâs way too much to ask for him and other Autistics to be humanized, to be able to interact with media in a positive way. Autism is terrible and if my brother wasnât autistic he would be so much better off so why would I try to make it so that he, as an autistic person, could feel good about himself by seeing people like him in media? Also do your research about autism these very common autistic traits arenât actually common autistic traits.âÂ
And OP goes on and continues speaking over autistic people in the notes. âShow me the proof that the majority of people headcanoning characters as autistic are autistic themselves,â âwow can you believe how many Professional Victims there are getting upset here on tumblr,â âIâm not talking about headcanoning a character like that because you see yourself in them, Iâm talking about making them ~*~*~quirky special snowflakes~*~*~, because thatâs obviously what most autism headcanons do instead of taking an existing characterâs personality and character traits and saying âlook, this matches my or other peopleâs personality and character traits, theyâre probably autistic like meâ.â
Not to mention mocking the descriptions of the people disagreeing with them. âLmao, these people have their genders/ pronouns, mental illnesses, ages, and other vital information that describes them, they must be so pathetic that they canât think of anything interesting to write.â Like? I have my pronouns, gender, and sexuality listed because I donât want people to misgender me or call me straight if they talk about me? (Which was especially more likely when my icon looked like a girl, and even still now with a femme fairy.)
Oh, but gods forbid you start swearing at them, or block them! Donât you know that only allistic people get to have emotions? And if youâre not 100% nice and civil and catering to their bullshit, you obviously donât get a say in anything.
Sorry. Most of you are just too easy to mock.
People made a claim that all fanfics with autistic characters are written by autistic people. I simply asked for sources.
Donât get mad at me because you canât back up what youâre saying.
Welcome to the internet, where it's super easy to say whatever you want. In any case, you have to be either remarkably foolish or a troll to post this sort of thing on TUMBLR, an objectively liberal site. To fellow autistic people, yes, it hurts to hear this sort of thing, but in the case of this individual, they're probably too much of a coward to say this in a regular social situation. Almost definitely a troll, probably doesn't even have a brother. Not tagging so people don't have to see this sort of nonsense.

Reblog Fairy Godmother Ian for all your dreams to come true.
My dreams have already come true.
its kinda scary how your whole life depends on how well you do as a teenagerÂ
oh my god No it doesnât donât put this kind of pressure on people?? you can absolutely fuck up in your teen years and continue on to a good life just fine. you can drop out of school, get a GED, still go to college and finish your degree as late as you want. i know people in my school who still havenât graduated and theyâre 26. some older. you can always transfer someplace else, always build yourself up from the ground. after a certain amount of college credits, a lot of schools really donât care about your high school GED or your SAT scores anymore. if you fuck up in your teenage years you are not a failure!! you can ALWAYS re-invent yourself, always start over. there is always a second chance.
Reblogging this for my followers freaking out over art school/college. I dropped out of high school and never thought Iâd get into college as easily as I did. You will be fine!
Fun story my biology professor just told us: Â When he was 23 he was married to his wife and worked two jobs to support them since she was in college: gas station attendant and construction worker. Â He worked these two jobs because that was the only work he could get since he was at the reading level of a third grader. Â
One night he was writing something and his wife noticed he was writing from right to left. Â Since she was studying occupational therapy she realized he had a learning disability and started working with him. Â He slowly began to learn to read, and at 26 got his GED and went to college.
His first year of college he took the lowest level math course he could take, 001. Â Over the years he worked on learning what he needed to, ended up graduating with a biology degree. Â He then went on to get his masters and PhD, graduating at the top of his class. Â He is now an extremely accomplished biologist and professor.
So donât let anyone tell you that youâre future is based on your choices as a teenager.
Seriously. Â Do not believe this. Â You arenât even stuck with your choices you make in your 20s. Â I didnât start working in my current field until just after my 30th birthday. Â It has nothing to do with what I went to school for in my 20s. Â My husband has a political science degree, and heâs a sports journalist.
You are not tied to anything. Â Go. Â Be.
My day job did not exist when I was a teenager. And the idea of trying to be an author was a distant thing on my radar. I thought I was going to be an English teacher. And then I thought I was going to be a music teacher. And then I thought I was going to be a drama teacher.
Also in there: therapist, early childhood educator, then finally: web developerâbecause by then it was an actual thing that existed. I didnât actually figure out what IÂ âwanted to do when I grew upâ until about eight years ago, when I was 36. I tried pursuing writing when I was 30, stopped, then started pursuing it seriously again when I was 40.Â
There is always time to change. And donât let anyone tell you that high school is âthe best time of your lifeâ either, because thatâs bullshit too.
Reblogging for my followers. My high school teachers didnât know what to do with me, and I failed everything but a low photography grade. I thought university wasnât for me, and settled for marrying a mediocre man who spent all day on Warcraft. Then I went to community college. Now Iâm in uni doing a double English and philosophy degree, just back from America. I am also single.
Also important: College is not the only option. Donât let anyone try to tell you it is. If youâre not academically inclined, the trades are an option and they are a good optionâ if the only thing you think youâre good at is make-up do that. There are people who can live comfortably just doing make-up. We have this idea planted in our heads as teenagers (and younger) that not fitting into an academic mould of some sort means youâre failing at life and this is bullshit. Thereâs no reason to feel like youâre âfailing at lifeâ because you donât like school or were never good at it. We need skilled workers in the world, and the thing they donât tell you is all work is skilled work. If itâs work, it takes skill. Yes, this encompasses âserviceâ jobs, it encompasses all jobs. Please donât think that what you do, or what you have an interest in doing is of less value than something that requires a college education. This coming from the college-educated white girl who is a seamstress because itâs what I enjoy. If college isnât going to get you where you want to go, than you donât need to go! Itâs that simple. Take whatever path you need to get to where you are happy and comfortable and fufilled. If youâre doing what you love you are sucessful.
i didnât graduate with my bachelorâs until i was 26 and life took a few turns along the way but now, at 37, i have a job that makes me genuinely happy. and itâs got nothing to do with how well i did in high school.
This! This make me cry⌠Iâm 23 and I really donât know where Iâm going, so reading this kinds of storys makes me feel hope!
I love all this support and inspiring stories, but what I think op was getting at was that our teachers/parents/elders ingrain this idea in us that if we fuck up in our teens, we fuck up everything. So donât ever let adults make you feel less for needing/spending more time to achieve your goals. Youâre still amazing if you get a degree at 24 or 44 or even not at all
Iâm wayyyyyy too depressed to explain in detail why I needed to read this today. Â Thereâs things I want and none of them have anything to do with a degree. Â

It just dawned on me that Mrs. Hudson watched Maryâs video with Sherlock. She knew he was self harming for John to save him. And she had to watch John not do anything. So she threw Sherlock in the boot of her car to get John to see him and when he still didnât do anything she ârandomlyâ calls attention to the stabbed correspondence on the mantel where she knew the video would be⌠So, thanks Hudders for corrupting âMaryââs evil plan
She knows evil spouses when she sees them.đ
kjdflkdfldf the bbc being like âwe had no idea that we would have to compete against a japanese cartoon about gay skaters on ice but⌠guess we have to do what we have to doâ
So my Dad accidentally came up with a Sherlock Meta
I figured Iâd share it. Basically, the idea is Mary is definitely pregnant. I know thereâs been some speculation regarding whether or not sheâs faking the pregnancy in regards to the whole M-theory thing, but my parent pointed out something interesting from The Hounds of Baskerville that would suggest itâs the real deal. So basically this has to do with the Bluebell case. As we know, Bluebell âhad to dieâ since the bun was a result of a science experiment by the mother. Obviously thereâs more to look into with this since all that story accomplished plotwise was to answer the question of what Baskerville was up to, and imo itâs kinda overdeveloped for something that only serves to tie up a loose end. So in my anticipation for s4, Iâve been obsessing over Sherlock theories and happened to be going over the Bluebell thing with my Dad when he brought up a colloquialism that I was unfamiliar with but seems relevant enough to warrant a mention. As it turns out, thereâs this old phrase âthe rabbit diedâ that is a euphemism for pregnancy. I wonât go over the procedure too much here cuz itâs kinda gross and cruel (look it up on Wikipedia if you must), but basically women could test for pregnancy using a rabbit. Due to the nature of the test, the saying âthe rabbit diedâ started being used to imply someone was pregnant. So, that alone might just be coincidence, but thereâs some commonalities shared between them. For instance, Dr. Stapleton was a mother with a sort of double life with ties to some shady government activity which relates to parts of M-theory like Mary and Mycroftâs shady dealings by way of Moriarty. Also in both cases their child is female. Donât frequently write meta, but I thought Iâd put the idea out there for folks to appropriate or expand on. I think itâs kinda a stretch but Moffat and Gatiss are notoriously tricky so I wouldnât put it past them. Personally, I think itâd be cute to see baby Watson and Johnlock dads~  (*Ë︜Ë*)
Due to recent promo pictures and leaks, it is now clear the the baby is fake. Â Sorry, pops.
I canât believe this. Â I just want to have a chat with like minded folks about all the weird stuff that happens to me, but everyone thinks Iâm crazy or lying. Â Iâll have to like- start just telling the stories right on this dumb blog, but thatâs what theyâre for right?
So I decided to try hypnotizing a friend, it went splendidly I think! Â But Iâve noticed patterns, archetypal things. Â Like doors. Â And these lights! Â And notably a vast, cavernous dark room that leads to a light and this goo... itâs always the same. Â Why hasnât anyone answered these questions? Â They must mean something if theyâre all encountered by everyone in the same context.
And then thereâs the matter of the bizarre symbol... Â That is for another time.
Oh, I did solve one mystery however. Â So apparently there was this poor stranger somewhere on 4chan who had an upsetting experience as a boy where everything turned very green. Â I too have had this experience. Â I was with family and suddenly everything outside became this unnatural shade of green, even things that arenât meant to be green took on a greenish hue. Â Sometimes before a tornado the sky will turn green, but it was only slightly overcast.
Obviously something meteorological was at work so I went about investigating, however I found nothing. Â All that was mentioned was how skies turn green during storms but this wasnât just the sky, everything became sickeningly verdant.
Recently though, I came upon mention of an interesting phenomenon wherein a cloud with unique composition will deflect all light that is not green. Â Usually they accompany storms but in rare cases they will form a thin sheet that lets in plenty of exclusively green light. Â So Iâll just assume you know how light works. Â Anyway, thatâs why everything became so green. Â Itâs very unnerving if you donât know whatâs going on so the information really should be easier to find.
Anyhow, thereâs all these weird things that are happening and they are probably due to science, but science wonât help me because pretending someone is making stuff up is easier than trying to figure out whatâs happening. Â Iâm making that a separate post.
