Don't you dare surrender. . . . I am going through all of my things and found this; the only photo ID that I have never smiled for. There was so much sadness in that moment, so much isolation from everyone I loved and had loved. And yet, I could feel the community and its strength. I chose this point in time to get the Molnija and Zvezda marks on the back of my neck to remind me of my own resilience and will to live. In all of this, I did not break my clean streak. I did not self harm. So yes, this picture is one in which I'm sad and hurt, but I'm also still open to share love and life, and determined to survive. I have finally put up my @evanescenceofficial #SYNTHESIS collage! Looking at this, placed over the joy of my life (Niallán) brings very emotional tears to my eyes and fills my heart with passion. @amylee, you have been an inspiration of strength to me for many years now, and having shared such emotions together through music and space in NOLA reminded me how to use the horrible pain and anger and fear to create beauty and spread compassion. I hope one day to share space and sing together again, and to exchange words with you; to say thank you for baring your soul and allowing it to connect to others. When out on the town with Niallán today. He was so happy to explore that he didn't want to go back to sleep right away! Today started badly, but he cuddled away my anxiety and reminded me how to laugh. Days like this are why Niallán is more than a pet snake; he is my therapy snake and an important part of my mental health management.
