Not to be that person but I feel like sometimes Shrek being so memeable prevents people from seeing how truly revolutionary and radical the first two films really were. A children’s fairy tale that argues that no, ugliness does not mean bad and beautiful does not mean good. A fairy tale that argues that everyone deserves love, even those cast out of the margins of society. A fairy tale that dares to have a female protagonist not be conventionally attractive or helpless. A fairy tale that argues that love does not happen at first sight, but is grown through mutual respect and interest. That’s pretty fucking sick if you ask me

tbh the real advice I’d give to anyone is, do shit alone. go to a museum & go at your own pace & leave the instant you’re done. go somewhere you’ve never been and just wander around, duck into & out of places as it pleases you. linger as long as you’d like.

I wish there was a simpler way to say “I know that what I’m upset / angry about isn’t really a big deal, but I have extreme difficulty regulating my emotional response to things so I’d appreciate some support and time to work my feelings out”

You feel so superior because you are his escape, you are the better option, the one he can be with by choice rather than obligation. The one he really wants. But then he says he had a good day with her, they had fun, he saw those beautiful parts about her that he used to love. And you’re right back down at the bottom, that thing kept to the side because you aren’t good enough to be the priority, the disposable one he can throw away at any minute. The other woman, never to be anything more, only at risk of becoming even less.
