A Split Life

This is the last new sim profile I’ll be sharing for a while. I’m CAS-ed out and will likely tinker in build mode when I return to this save.

Barbie’s lips and chest are fuller. At one point her breasts were cartoonishly big. I was going for early 90s playmate boob job and it was too much for me and a lot of my cc clothing, lol.

Barbie’s nose and body (not including the boobs I went with) are thinner, and it was either when I adjusted her nose or added the hair, that I decided to call her Barbie as she reminded me of the 90s version of the doll.

Although I changed her hair, hair color, plumped her lips and given her a different skin and slightly lighter skin tone, I still think this sim is pretty recognizable.

Rhia and Yvette are engaged in this new save. Rhia and Shona are also very close as Rhia and her fiancée have known each other since elementary school.

She was actually generated as a guy, and I must have liked how he looked or something because I took him into CAS before I force killed him (because how dare you sir this place is private) or offed him with the violence mod (is that the name).

While in CAS I accidentally clicked the female button and liked that version too. I ended up saving the original in my library (no need to save both because I knew I would remember to switch genders).

My plan was to make the male and female versions Shona’s grandparents. When I started renovating for Audre, I plopped the guy down in that save. When I carried him over to this one, I decided granddad was dead 😂.

Unlike the other women in the Jeanov family, Juri’s given name has no connection to anything regarding her name or the names of any of my relatives.

I realize that might seem odd. But I made sim versions or used stand ins for the members of my family that I actually like, or want(ed) to know better. Well… for the most part.

The cousin Juri is based on kind of disappeared for a small chunk of my early adulthood. I don’t know why, just that she was another woman who my family talked crap about.

When my cousin returned it was like she became the person our family’s scapegoating had prevented her from being. That person was someone I wanted to get to know, but when she returned I began disappearing from my family, lol!

Like Savage (I’m thinking of changing his name to Saviaun) I plopped Nation from A Farming Town: Tropical Vacation into my new save with the intent of editing her. While I’m considering taking her back into CAS to lower her muscle tone, I also didn’t do anything to her save change her hair and clothes. Unlike Savage, Nation has been renamed Ann Jeanov.

Ann is a stand in for a real Aunt who passed away when I was in my early twenties (A.LONG.TIME.AGO). In the save, Ann is Everly’s oldest child, Marie’s Older sister, and my self sim’s aunt (duh). Ann is also a single mother to one child who will be introduced next.

Ann’s name comes from my real life aunt’s middle name, and her traits, like Marie’s and Everly’s are influenced by her real personality. Unlike the other two sims, it’s probably more accurate to say her traits are plucked from the legend surrounding her life.

I thought this was very fitting of my real life aunt’s when she was in her 20s and 30s. At that time she dated a dude in a biker gang, but no one I knew was more scared of them than they were afraid of her.

Once I got older, I realized that’s just what women of their generation (men of every generation, probably) call women who “don’t take shit”. Crazy isn’t a compliment. Just a way to marvel at another woman’s audacity while distinguishing you from the “wrong” kind of woman.

And if him and his expensive jogging suit looks familiar that’s because, he is IN FACT one of the models off of the comfrt website, and no that’s not an endorsement, although I own three five pairs of signature joggers, two signature hoodies and one weighted hoodie and will be buying did buy more of their clothes (in the time between queueing this and it being posted there was a spring sale and I bought one set, the matching hoodie to some joggers I bought in January and a pair of sweat pants)… In my defense, I didn’t know the brand was influencer push. Another autistic person recommended them because they ARE comfy… but in hindsight… the autistic person in question… could.be.an.influencer….

So I was actually going to use the image of a different male model from this sight, for a different member of this same family (who I didn’t end up making, still a maybe), but when I was shopping for myself I looked at this dude’s face and said “That’s him! That’s Skinny!”

He’s also a bit of a mentor to Savage (because despite his faults, I imagine him as surprisingly decent when he wants to be) who he would have met through Ann, because Savage was plopped in this game to be my self sims’s brother or cousin (still deciding that too…. Details, what are those?).

Savage has the same first name, same look, same style and some of the same outfits as the original. What can I say, some sims just come out perfect the first time around, and when I made him for that save I knew he’d show up somewhere else aaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnddddd heeeeereeee he is.

This outfit is new… I think??? But this post is missing several categories because when I originally created Sav I had the Harveston County 1.0 (a Black farming community I never finished, but am kind of starting over???) in mind, so a lot of his outfits already had a little Western badguy in them. As this save revolves around another farming community, his original aesthetic fit.

I know it’s new, because his AFTTV athletic gear came with flip flops because I imagined him as one of those disgustingly gifted athletic people who can cross you in sandals. What also hasn’t changed is that Savage is a surfer so like pretty much all the Kai’s he still has his wetsuit as his swimwear so I won’t be sharing that.

My mother doesn’t actually wear dresses or shorts anymore. I suspect this has to do with her weight because I’ve seen her check out dresses and shorts sets when we’ve gone shopping. So I gave her a dress.

My mom was has always been a very active person. She’s one of those people who feels energized from exercise which I absolutely DO NOT relate to, lol. I don’t think she’d actually wear that spaghetti strap top because those are NOT large breast friendly, but I’m pretending in the simland exercise gear is designed for support and not just skinny girl visuals.

I said my mom doesn’t wear shorts, but it’s possible she wears them to bed in summer. I haven’t lived with her in a decade so I don’t know. That is to say, this outfit might be more in line with her personality if the shorts were mid calf to full length bottoms.

My mom has actually lost a lot of weight in the last 15 or so years. She still doesn’t like the way she is. I didn’t make her at her current weight, or at her ideal weight because in the few happy memories I have growing my mom was like US size 26 to 28.

Instead of changing her body, I reimagined her as confident and proud. Someone who didn’t have to give up on playing sports when she was 10 because she “developed” early and her mother prevented her from playing like her brother and skinnier siblings because controlling her was the only way Grandma had been taught to protect little girls from predators.

If anyone remembers, Zara is the girl Conquer met through his dog Neji who turned out to be way too young for the sim. The above shot is here in her everyday wear.

I don’t think I ever mentioned this, but since I created Zara I knew that I would be reusing here. The original plan was to plop her down in Audre as Love interest’s (he has a name now, lol it’s Shona) teenage niece who works part time at the bakery. I kind of aged everyone down, though, for this save. It’s now an unintended prequel.

Zara’s name has not been changed. I don’t know if it will in the future because I’m pretty wishy washy that way. If it does, this is yet another post that may be edited later.

So I totally forgot to say that my self sim’s first name is still FroAnhke (because… that’s… my name), but that their last name has been changed to Jeanov. A sur that takes some elements from my real life mother and Grandmother’s (mom’s mom) given names. I came up with the name while making the first sim on the lot, Everly, who is loosely based on what I remember of my grandmother.

Another, Another aside. I’m not a picture person. I don’t really have any pics of myself or family (aside, for the latter, what’s on my ancestor alter) and I don’t feel the need for them. When I went to make this sim I realized I wasn’t upset to pull from memory.

Back to the point, Everly’s given name rhymes with my grandmother’s real surname, probably because I was too lazy to make up something else, lol.

I think this outfit I used for Everly’s formal wear is like to women’s mail carrier outfit or something:

I decided on it because I remember my grandmother taking occasions that required her to wear anything but a moomoo very seriously. By seriously, I mean like professional serious. I think this was because she was one of the only women she knew at the time who had a job, and was a part of the generation of Black people who dressed up to go into the store.

Next is Everly’s athletic fit:

The Jeanov’s are apart of the rural community. But even if they weren’t I would have selected these overalls because my grandmother had a garden in her backyard. From the house to the back gate she’d planted and cared for all kinds of flowers, and I would like to think this is where I got my green thumb.

Everly’s nightwear is just a robe so I chose not to share it. I think her outerwear is just as boring, but I got a shot of her waving and after the bit of reminiscing on this post it feels like she’s telling me “now that you’ve remembered, go back to the living.”

So I shared two members of Audre’s love interest’s family, but I didn’t actually start a new save with them in mind. I just wanted to play the game, so I plopped my self sim down along with Savage and Nation from A Farming Town: Tropical Vacation. In intended to remake them as sim versions of a couple of members of my real life family as both already somewhat reminded me of an aunt and cousin. In the end, I didn’t really change them. Instead I plopped some really old sims down as bases, and made a sim version of my mom, and a lazy sim version of my grandmother and left Sav and Nation alone aside some hair, clothing and trait changes.

I still think this sim looks more like my cousin than myself, but I’m starting to accept that I’m incapable of either rendering or recognizing my own image. In addition to failing in the sims 3 & 4, none of the self portraits I’ve ever drawn look like me to myself, at least.

When I was little. Like aged 10 or under, I’m pretty sure I had a shirt with this same pattern on it. I may have downloaded the top just because of that.

This is the formal I made:

I should note all of the locals in the farming area of My sims realty’s Meadow Glen, (which I’m thinking of as Harveston County 2.0) have some cowboy/prairie aesthetic. That fact makes it pretty easy to distinguish the residents from the Kai family.

I didn’t include the sleepwear. Not only is there not much to it, but my self sim’s shoulders look even wider in those shots than the formal. I absolutely could edit them, but the shoulder thing is pretty accurate. When I was in my 20’s I was the smallest out of my friends, but all of them wore smaller size tops because they had round narrow shoulders. In real life I like that detail about myself, but in the sims it looks super odd to me.

The pattern on the pants was just a random accident I recolored to match the hoodie.

And likely I am once again sharing that I do not know how to swim. I’ve only been in a pool twice in my life, and in an ocean a couple times briefly during childhood. During those outings the adults and older kids just kind of stashed the littles in the shallow end and ignored us unless we looked like we might drown or could be used as a punchline to a joke.

After getting older I did want to learn, but didn’t trust the people who could teach me and had such a difficult menstrual cycle that I couldn’t do swimming as a course in university. I’m a little bitter.

Finally here’s my self sim’s outerwear:

I mentioned in Trovinte/Conquer/Shona’s post that I edited Jessie to make Shona a father, so I decided to post him next. This is the 3rd version of this sim. His new face was based on this image:

Anyways, this version of Jessie is now called Michael Kai. He’s been aged up from young adult to adult. Michael is the eldest of two, father of two, and currently has one grandchild. I do intend to introduce the rest of his family in time and can say he looked a lot more like the reference shot before I changed his hair and switched from EA to a custom skin.

So I mentioned starting yet another game and basically spending the last year periodically visiting CAS. I figured since I’d gone through the trouble of renovating so much of @one-plumbob’s world Pleasant Isle I might as well make Audre’s love interest and his family. I used the most recent version of Conquer from A Farming Town: Tropical Vacation and aged him down to teen before tweaking him. I also originally plopped the most recent version of Trovinte (who is also a version of the same sim) from Isol Isle to make his dad, but instead went with an edit of the most recent version of Jessie (who also has multiple versions) from AFTTV.

This is actually the first time Trovinte/Conquer/Shona has ever experienced a life stage other than young adult… err, maybe. It’s possible right before I stopped playing Resistance he was aged up to adult. I’m pretty sure I changed his traits, but haven’t really adjusted his skills or anything because I’ve just been making pretty fake people, so I may come back and edit this with that information. Maybe.

His swim gear is boring because I thought I had a teen version of the short sleeve wetsuit, but that turned out to not be true, or it’s not in the game or something. And I was super disappointed because his whole family surfs and loves the water, which is something all three versions of Shona have in common, but nooooooooOOOO suit. Regardless, because of this I’ve decided not to share that outfit, and instead discovered he has a coat version of his everyday ware even thought he’ll only be visiting the new save for the summer and probably won’t actually wear this.

Well, if that glitch made anyone think I was hacked, I’m still here. Whether or not I’m in control is still up for debate.

Anywho, I’m going to put some of my CAS tinkerings in my queue for next week. Still haven’t made it to live mode, but I have gone into Audre and done a bit of redecorating. I decided to move the gallery and replaced the original with a furniture store. The Gallery’s (now furniture store) first floor pretty much looks the same with the addition of slightly more space and the upstairs is currently empty with the exception of a kitchen model set up that was originally in the homegoods store in the same building. The New Gallery will be in the same building as @one-plumbob’s Library, which I’ve already tweaked to fit both.

In addition to rearranging, I’ve also been removing trees, because they put a fuck ton of shrubbery in the world and I’d noticed stuttering while I was in edit town. By chance, I came across something that said too many bushes and trees can cause this, so whenever I go in I pluck trees from the mountains and hills that sims can’t route to. I’ll probably also remove bushes and flowers if I ever get to the stage of set up where I start putting sims in houses.

So that’s how my simming life has been going. Real life, despite the increased political fuckery has been going pretty well for me. I’m pretty much back to where I was mental health wise before someone tried to kill me, and better in some areas. There’s been a lot of progress on the whole agoraphobia thing the last couple of months and I’ve been navigating unplanned social situations surprisingly well. This year was actually the first year I didn’t have seasonal autistic burnout and as expensive as my closet studio is I wouldn’t trade living alone for anything.

but I finally went through all the custom content I had saved in my likes, downloaded what I actually wanted and got rid of the rest. I’m sharing this because it took so long finishing feels like a major accomplishment.
