no but seriously on this latest reread I’ve been noticing a lot how Bill is lowkey the Weasley family Fix Things guy they actually all depend on him kind of a lot it’s just not made a big deal of

like that holiday the whole Weasley family go on to Egypt in PoA. I hadn’t really put together before that they go the summer after Ginny’s first year which she spent being possessed by voldemort and nearly dying, and we know it impacted her a lot psychologically because it’s an experience the dementors can tap into in PoA

I’m convinced Molly and Arthur noticed that she was struggling a lot after her horrific experience and when they won some money they just went you know what the best thing to help Ginny is right now? taking her to see Bill

and then again in GoF when Bill comes from Egypt to see Harry in the final triwizard task but also this is right after Crouch has disappeared and Percy’s been dragged in for questioning and seems to be having a bit of a meltdown about the whole thing 

when Harry asks Molly and Bill how Percy’s taking it it’s Bill who replies first, so we know he’s aware and involved. so now I’m imagining Molly writing to Bill like Bad Things have happened to Percy at work and he’s upset and Harry’s supposed to have family at his triwizard event but he’s all alone Bill can you come and fix these things please

THEN he moves back to the uk and joins the Order but he doesn’t seem to be a core member yet, but after Sirius dies we see him doing more order stuff, so I’m imagining the situation being something like we’ve lost one of our most important members we need someone to step up Bill can you get over here you’re part of command now

and then in DH when Ron abandons Harry and Hermione he does not go home he goes to Bill because already knew he screwed up so bad he couldn’t face his family but instead was just like Bill help

and then again later when they’re escaping malfoy manor, Ron’s idea for refuge when it all goes to hell is Bill

and Bill tells them when they’re there that he’s been smuggling the rest of his family to safety. he says ‘I’ not ‘we’, so like, not him and the other adults in the family, not him and his dad, the most active weasley order members, but him. he’s taking personal responsibility for getting them all safely into hiding.

“Hey, Hagrid. Are you doing well?”

Hagrid looks abashed at him, as always “Yes, Mr. Scamander. Ye so kind to ask.”

Then, Newt notices a tiny ginger bundle peeking from behind Hagrid’s giant knees.

“Is that a first-year?” He asks, intrigued.

“Oh, yeah.” Hagrid laughs and pushes the kid forward, who squeaks and looks up at Newt completely awestruck.
