Blaine looked at the message in his phone and smiled. Sebastian was downstairs waiting for him. One quick look on the full length mirror beside his door to make sure everything was in the right place, dark blue pants, light yellow shirt with the collar loose and no tie, casual, but still nice, and he was out the door, and down the stairs to the lobby. While he made his way down, he had a couple of seconds to consider what was happening. He was about to see Sebastian Smythe, in person, after a long, long time. It felt like a lifetime ago when they had last seen each other, and God knows it had happened enough to Blaine to make it feel that long. But none of that matter now, only the present. When he walked out the door and into the street, his face lit up when he saw the other man standing there.
"And there you are too, Sebastian" he said, then walked up to him and gave him a warm, soft hug. "It's good to see you again." He stood back and looked at the car behind the other man. "You got us our own carriage. I'm touched!" he said, then patted his shoulder and quickly got into the car, making room for Sebastian to sit beside him. "So? Are you going to tell me where are we going?"
It had been a long time since the two had seen each other, and the presence of that fact really hit when Blaine walked out and they were looking at each other face to face. Wow. A lot had changed, and a lot hadn't. They hugged and Sebastian took in the familiar raspberry scent before stepping back to usher Blaine into the car afterwards. Once the other man was in, he slid in behind him, closing the door and buckling himself in one smooth motion. Of course, Blaine made sure there was no silence and it would have been easy to forget that there had been so much time since the last time they had hung out.
"Got to keep the fantasy alive, don't I? And the anticipation, you're too fun to surprise so really it's your own fault," he chimed playfully, arching an eyebrow with a bemused smirk growing. With the both of them inside and buckled in, the driver carefully pulled out and started driving. "So tell me, what have you been up to outside of all of that professional success we've been talking about?"
On such short notice, Sebastian was bound to be working when he told Hunter he'd come over, so it was no surprise when he showed up at the other man's house dressed for a law office. He could have gone home first and changed, even taken a shower to get the product out of his hair, but that was time he would rather spend with the fellow Warbler alumni. He wasn't lying when he said he was tired either, all of that would take effort as well as time.
When the door opened, he cracked a smile and let himself in. This wasn't a first, he'd been here before, and he liked disrupting Hunter's usual norm. "Here I am, all yours for the night," he said in a tone that teased the other man, leaning into playful frivolity despite their earlier conversation.

As promised, Sebastian set aside some time to go out for the night with Blaine. He wasn't just going to meet the other man at the club though, not in a city where driving worked the way it does in New York. Instead, he showed up in his own car to pick Blaine up with a paid driver so that he wouldn't have to worry about parking or driving back. When they arrived at the other man's home, he got out of the passenger seat and opened the back for the two of them to get in for the ride to the club. He'd already been texting Blaine with updates on his arrival time as they drove, so it shouldn't be long before the other man came out. He was dressed for the club, but he was still wearing a button-up shirt with nice pants though he had taken the time to go home and give himself a more free hairstyle than he wore at work.
"There you are, killer. It's good to see you with my own two eyes."

I am sure you did. Me, interested in a job making you awards? I will pass, thank you. Accepting such a position would indicate you require some form of assistance with inflating your ego.

PM: I can bring dinner with me, if you want. Are you in the mood for anything in particular? I'm just doing a lot, all of the time, and it never ends. This isn't the future I had hoped for, but it's not like I got here unaware. At least I'm good at it. A night at your place is just what the doctor ordered, so you can quit that worrying.

Not everything has to be easy, or so I've been told. The important part is that you're happy. It sounds like you're doing something that you love with your life, I'm all for the enthusiasm. PM: Look at you, telling me half-truths to placate me. What were you saying about callouts? Tired? What are your plans for the weekend? We can do that, yes. You know as well as I do that is a bandaid. Why is that, Sebastian? I am fine. This is not about me.
I knew you wouldn't. Why not? Are you interested in the job?
PM: Anything I had planned, I could put down for you. I don't know what to say, you know me too well. Why don't I like it? That's only because it's impossible to distract you.

I'm sure some people would agree with that. So how are those tv show recs going for you? I can add in audio books. I would not get nearly as much done if I didn't have audio versions of some of the law books I have to look back on for case research. They make them for regular books too, I hear. From the sound of this conversation, we both need to find way more interesting lives.
For someone who stayed up late with me, well onto 3 am on Skype, to explain how his favorite cognac was made, I can say that there isn’t a time, no. I wish I could do that, I really do. If only, just for the quiet. Colleges can be so loud at times, and you can’t put two and two together in your head. Look at us- We’ve become a couple of grumps, haha! I am, yeah. I’m happy, and I think it’s been a while since I genuinelly felt this way, or like, felt it in my bones that I am, who knew? I’m still waiting for you to draw in a couple of those ideas, see if any of those is something that we can do together!

Positive. That is not to say I could not have been, of course. I am fine, just working to make it until the end of summer. There should be a few weeks of 'down town' between school resuming and field trip season beginning. Not that I can think of, from where I am sitting you are as up-to-date as anyone.

Ugh, that sucks. I know that feeling though, so relish the fact that you aren't alone. I hope you've been able to rest and get some relaxation in. Other than working, what have you been up to? It feels like it has been forever, even if it hasn't. Adulthood does that to you, I think.
Adulthood and distance, unfortunately. How have you been, angel eyes? I've been alright, don't worry about me. I haven't been up to much, actually. It's a lot harder to be a party boy when you've got adult responsibilities, though I have had reason to come into work hungover more than a few times. I'm a pro, though. What about you?
On the basis of your tone, one is lead to believe the answer is 'not you'. However the fact that you are posting about it, in addition to the fact that you appear to be seeking some form of accolade, both seem to suggest that the reality may be that you do in fact enjoy doing just that. Aside from your over-inundated work schedule, how have you been?

At least you got to go home? I’m currently on hour 29 at work. I did manage to stretch out and close my eyes for about 80 mins somewhere between 2 and 5 am though. So I suppose that’s a bonus. And it is looking like I should be able to leave this evening.Â

Sure. People have it worse than me.
Just work. I unfortunately don't have time for anything else, really. Luckily, I don't have anyone else in my life that I'm accountable for them or their happiness, so nobody's complaining about the lack of face time with me at home. It's a competitive field and the Smythes are a competitive family, if I ever think I've got free time, that just means I have time for another case. It's a numbers game and the more wins, the better. What about you?
Name one time that has ever been a problem for me. Good on you, you should love your work. Me? Sometimes. It helps that I can kick off my shoes and wind down a bit more at home than I can in an office. I don't like to be at work longer than I need to and I already need to a lot. The part where there's nobody asking for me helps too, like you said. You certainly are a happy, little worker bee. I have plenty of ideas, entertaining is my specialty.
