When The Beatles had a few beers and we'd dropped some pills it was all fun. Pretty often we were all filled up with the stuff, partly because Preludin was so easy to come by. As a matter of fact it was sold on prescription in the pharmacy as a slimming pill. Consequently the pep-pill situation got a little out of hand, and one of the results was that we spent many hours talking uncontrollably. This - combined with the fact that all of us had just learnt to let go with each other - made us involve ourselves in hour-long discussions about our innermost needs, wishes... you name it, we talked about it. We really let it all out. I remember one specific morning that was very much one of those times. John and I had been rapping on and on. We went into the coffee shop by the Top Ten, and there was little Paul sitting all alone at a table, his jaw just rolling with prellies as well. He screamed out, 'Talk to me, someone please talk to me!' So of course we continued our talk as a threesome!

hi jürgison nation, i present to you fem jürgen !
something i dont see talked about enough is how jürgen actually has really severe social anxiety (self described in his autobiography) and i think this would be cool to explore in fics and whatnot..

“One time when Stuart and I were in London, he came with me to their shop [Annelo & Davide]. I saw these high-heeled Spanish flamenco boots for boys. They were a little pointed and flat in the front. Because Stuart was so tiny, I said “Aren’t they great?” He loved them because they would make him taller! So Stuart was the first one with those Beatle boots.”

Stuart Sutcliffe’s letter to Astrid Kirchherr, on his last night as a Beatle.
‘…our big love day, remember the 28th of November when we have drive in our love-waggon to Blenkinese [Blankenese] and there we have our things that say we together, ASTRID and STUART forever and ever. Tomorrow we have 2 months together with our rings my darling. This our wonderful day - I LOVE YOU, ILOVEYOU my wonderful, wonderful, beautiful darling, I wish so much that we together on this day, tomorrow in my dreams you will be with me in my heart as never before. I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU.
I LOVE ASTRID.
Tonight I play once more with the Beatles my beauty, and I will play in your jeans, and your blue pullover and your [scarf?] and will close my eyes and think always of you. As I play, I think of the days that keep us apart, today 14 days, and then we together, yes darling I think also of the big room in the airport where I wait for you, and I so excited when I think of you when you walk to me from airplane. And now darling I must stop, because I see I have only 3 pages left for when I write tonight. Bye, bye my darling. I love you so big, I hope I have a letter from you tomorrow, write and tell me please of your teeth. 1960000000063 little soft kisses for my angel
Your loving Stuart, darling when you so pain you cannot write my sad heart cries but I not angry with you for your pain.
[Within a heart] Stuart loves Astrid in her pain and sadness, 1000009 mal bigger’
“Really, we had a normal relationship. It wasn’t like he was some guru figure sitting preaching about art. People often like to see him as mysterious because of his unusual appearance, but he was completely normal at home.”
— Astrid Kirchherr, Stuart: The Life & Art of Stuart Sutcliffe

KLAUS VOORMANN photographed by ROBERT MEYER in London, 1969.
underrated subgenre of beatles pictures: the ones where it kinda looks like one of them is using a tablet or smartphone

KLAUS VOORMANN shows off his new 8-string bass guitar, 1965.
ASTRID KIRCHHERR with her photograph of STUART SUTCLIFFE, c. 1964.
interestingly, I posted that photograph the other day after having discovered it for the first time on a Pinterest board. and today, as if by magic, I searched ‘Klaus Voormann’ into Facebook like I sometimes do, and this post came up with the article from which it appeared (I don’t know how I’d never seen it before):
here is another sweet photo of Astrid and on the next page, a photograph of Astrid’s mother’s house, with an arrow showing the window to what was Stuart’s attic studio.
this is from Germany’s OK magazine (reportedly a small competitor to BRAVO at the time) and dated 15 November 1965. I didn’t think it was 1965 just because I knew she had cut her hair into a bob that year but that was early on so by November it makes sense for it to be that long again.
