Genesect had been following the Gengar for some time now. Despite their heavy metal exoskeleton and the clanking sound that often marked their movements they could prowl silently if they really wanted to; it was part of being of a hunter species, the researchers had told them. Stalking prey was part of it too - even if the Gengar was a different sort of prey. Three hundred million years ago whatever Pokémon Genesect had been before modifications would have hunted prey for their flesh.

Today, Genesect mostly ‘hunted’ prey out of curiosity. They followed some ways away in silence, watching, observing, until finally jumping out and striking-

–up a conversation.

"Ghost! You’re a Ghost-type? I’ve never seen one in person before - no error? Ghost?”

Well, Gengar hadn’t exactly been oblivious to the....whatever it was following. After all, he could hear the whispers of the shadows, and they had told him he was being trailed. Even still, when he saw just what it was, well---

“What the hell are you?!”

He didn’t pay any mind to the, uh--- seriously, he couldn’t even come with words to describe whatever the hell it was. A machine maybe, but even still--

“Go away, buddy.”
