"kill them with kindness" WRONG. chair attack 🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑
This post is now about a far-right politician and one of the best moments of Brazilian live TV:
Brazilians of Tumblr, what is happening here?
I'm gonna copy @renah's great tags bellow. I was too busy laughing to explain anything:
#No because y'all don't understand how WELL DESERVED that chair attack was
#situation TLDR: the dude hit is Pablo Marçal - he's a con artist turned coach turned politician that has been deceiving people for years
#he started his career by selling courses on how to get rich by investing money and overworking yourself until exhaustion
#he's one of those coaches that tell people if you're poor it isn't the capitalist system we live in its your fault for not working enough
#He himself doesn't do that- he made his money scamming people (he was part of a group that targeted old people)
#a few years ago he took a group of people (that bought one of his courses) to a trip to a dangerous mountain during bad weather
#and they all GOT STUCK THERE they almost died and the firefighters had to go up there to rescue them
#He also would promote surprise marathons to the people who work for him and ONE PERSON DIED by over exercising without preparation
#He tried to run for president I'm 2022 but - thank goodness - he didn't gather enough support and gave up
#but now he's trying to run for mayor of São Paulo - the largest and one of our most important cities
#his political campaign has been nothing but insults to other candidates and denying all his crimes
#He has admitted he takes inspiration from ANDREW TATE to make his campaign work
#he even got into a falling out with Bolsonaro over being the new face of right-wing conservative leadership in Brazil
#The guy who hit him with the chair is Datena - he is a journalist and television presenter
#He has hosted for years a sensationalist program about urban violence and is like the most centrist person you'll find
#he'll pick the side that is currently “winning”
#He decided to run for mayor too thinking he can use his influence as a popular television figure
#but polls have show how behind he is compared to other candidates including Marçal
#During one of the debates he got insulted by Marçal got up and almost hit him but got stopped
#in the most recent one he got insulted again and called a coward but this time he got up and HIT HIM WITH A CHAIR LIVE
#and you know the situation is bad when you have to cheer for the fucking sensationalist conservative news host
#But Marçal FUCKING SUCKS that chair was for all of us who had enough of this dude
#rant in tags
Also, someone asked for a source. Here's a link with 2 videos: https://g1.globo.com/sp/sao-paulo/eleicoes/2024/noticia/2024/09/16/xingamentos-gritos-e-nunes-apartando-video-mostra-confusao-apos-datena-agredir-pablo-marcal-com-cadeira-durante-debate-em-sp.ghtml
The first post is from last year, the chair attack (cadeirada sounds so much better) happened last night.

I think it's important for non-brazilians to reblog and share *WHY* Twitter has left Brazil because Elon will definitely try to spin it into a "Brazil's actually a dictatorship and we need to take freedom to them" specially since our country currently has a left-leaning leader and in recent past USA HAS interfered in our politics. Don't let Elon get away with blaming Brazil's legal system. Share the truth with friends and acquaintances so everyone knows Elon is a crybaby who thinks he's above the law of entire countries.
Not to mention we DID have a dictatorship not too many years ago. And guess who was running that? The military, with support from the USA. Not the left.
I was looking for this! Yeah, Brazil did go through a dictatorship, AND GUESS WHO TOOK PART AND SUPPORTED IT? Also, the USA has a history of interfering with Latin America's governments, and pretty much every single time it ended in chaos for the Latin American country, chaos that many are still recovering from to this day
Woah woah woah. Twitter is shutting down in Brasil? I'm thankful for your mental health but what?
Yep.
TLDR: Elon fired everyone in the Brazilian offices of twitter but legally Twitter can't continue existing in Brazil WITHOUT a legal representative. So now our Federal Supreme Court subpoened him to apoint a new representative or the website is getting shut down in the country
The long version with the context about the fight:
It all started when the supreme court started to shut down in the country profiles of brazilian people who had commited crimes using the website (an example is Monark, a dude who literally used his profile to say we should give n*zis and racists unlimited freedom of speech [he fled to the US to escape prison btw]).
Elon caught wind of this and decided to threaten our constitution and said that he would get the profiles back on because he wouldn't accept a government restricting "freedom of speech" on his platform. The supreme court issued a statement that if he did that, he would face a fee everyday for every account reactivated. It was money so he didn't do that (or maybe turns out he couldn't do it anyway and he was just lying for his lil fanboys).
This was all back at the start of the year but suddenly almost two weeks ago it was reported he fired every single employee in the offices of brazil, including the legal representative.
Then tonight, around two hours ago the official profile of STF replied and tagged elon with the doc of the subpoena because since they didn't have a legal representative, they couldn't do it in the proper way. The subpoena says that Elon has 24 hours to appoint a new guy for the job or the social is getting shut down in brazilian territory.
So we have 3 options for whats gonna happen in the next 24 hours:
Alexandre de Moraes (The guy who Elon started a one-sided beef with) backs down and doesnt shut down the website (highly unlikely)
Elon backs down and appoints a new guy so he doesnt lose the 4th biggest public of his site
Twitter gets shut down until Elon's manchild's ego gives in
thats all <3
Edit:
This was Elon's reply to the tweet. YES he is pathetic like that
Edit 2: it's currently 17:38 brasilia time of 30/08 and Twitter is bound to get disconnected soon, the order has been given by Moraes. People who use a VPN to access Twitter will get fined 50k reais (almost 9k dollars).
Yesterday a note was posted lying about Brazil being a dictatorship and saying that one of the people being censored is a 16yr old girl. The truth is that it's a grown ass man that use his daughters account to promote attacks on delegates, ministers, judges and other politicians. They also call orders to ban n*zi accounts "illegal orders" (WHICH ARE VERY LEGAL UNDER THE CONSTITUTION OF BRAZIL). They also say "we don't want every other country to have the freedom of speech laws the US has" meanwhile they've been trying to impose them in a sovereign state.
I would say what I want to say to Elon but unfortunately my mother taught me to keep those kinds of thoughts inside. Just know they're three letters <3
edit 3: twitter was officially unavailable on brazilian territory by the time it struck midnight of the 31st
Edit 4:
Translation: 🚨 NOW: Elon Musk is looking for executives to represent Twitter/X in Brazil, to negotiate the platform's RETURN in the country, reports Correio Braziliense.
he's going to do what cellbit said kkkmk he purposely let them suspend it, then after a few days he'll come out and be the savior of the brazilian people and say he only did it for us
Don't let elon fool you. He doesn't care and is probably only doing it because his investors are threatening him with money
Twitter is about to be banned in Brazil, why?
Have you seen the news about Twitter (now X, but I refuse to call it that) being banned in Brazil? Have you been wondering why that is? I’m Brazilian, and here I am to explain things to you.
You’ve likely noticed that since Elon Musk took over the social media network, hate speech on the platform has skyrocketed. White supremacist and Neo-Nazi groups have been using Twitter to disseminate racist propaganda and hate speech. And although the United States might not be doing anything about this, other countries are not so indulgent. Brazil being one of them.
Racism and incitement of hate (including speech) are crimes in Brazil. So is political disinformation, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism. Hate speech of any kind is a CRIME in Brazil.
The Brazilian Supreme Court ordered Elon Musk to do something about the political fake news and hate speech on his platform, and Elon responded by shutting down all offices in Brazil.
The Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) then ordered Elon Musk to appoint a legal representative in Brazil, as NO BUSINESS can operate in the country without a legal representative that can be held responsible to crimes and answer to them in a court of law. The STF gave Elon 24 hours to appoint this legal representative, and now that the deadline has passed and Elon has not complied, it seems that Twitter will be shut down in Brazil.
TL;DR: Elon is salty that he’s not above Brazilian law.
In my opinion, the funniest thing to emerge from this is that Elon used the X Global Government Affairs account to say that Brazilian minister Alexandre de Moraes gave him these orders in “secret”. And no one else other than the OFFICIAL BRAZILIAN SUPREME COURT ACCOUNT responded to this with the ACTUAL FULL LEGAL DOCUMENT LMAOOOOOOO
The funniest thing about this situation is that Elon Musk is so pissed off at not getting to do something illegal and get away with it by being a billionaire for once in his life that he has been -and I’m 100% serious here- making photo edits of our Supreme Court minister dressed as fucking Voldemort. Literal little kid taping a picture of someone they don’t like to a dartboard kind of behavior.
Brazilian Supreme Court: Hey, uh. Just letting you know that what you’re doing is a crass violation of Brazilian law and if you don’t remedy it on the next 24h we’ll shut your website down in Brazil.
Elon Musk:
Sorry, I just looked it up and it turns out I got it slightly wrong: Elon Musk didn't photoshop a picture of Alexandre de Moraes, the Brazilian Supreme Court minister into Voldemort. Pretty silly of me to think someone like him would put in the effort to actually edit a picture himself.
What ACTUALLY happened was that Elon Musk first compared Alexandre de Moraes to Voldemort, then posted an Al generated image of him behind bars and told him to "mark his words because it'll happen for real someday", then posted another Al generated picture of him as a roll of toilet paper and then, finally, posted a picture of him photoshopped into a Sith Lord that he claimed had been generated by that shitty Grok Al thing they came up with, just to eventually admit that it was actually some random edit someone else had made he took from Google Images because "Al made him look too badass". In this order.
Well, it’s a little bit of a convoluted story, but remember the US capitol invasion by Trump Supporters in January 2021? Brazil was being governed by our own far-right asshole back then as well, Jair Bolsonaro. When he was running for president, his political party orchestrated a large misinformation campaign, speeding fear mongering rumors about the left through social media and instant messaging apps to try and sway people into voting for them. A bunch of these rumors were, unsurprisingly, about how “the left is teaching your kids to be gay in school.” Even after Bolsonaro was elected, there still were lots of people and communities in these platforms dedicated to spreading rumors in his favor.
Bolsonaro, however, did such a shitty job handling the COVID pandemic and was responsible for (and very indifferent about) so many people losing their lives that it irreversibly soured his popularity. As a result, he wasn’t reelected in 2022 and lost to Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, the leftist party candidate. So, in January 2023, two days after the anniversary of the US capitol invasion, Bolsonaro’s remaining supporters were called to arms through these misinformation spreading platforms to storm Brazil’s Supreme Court building, the congress building and the presidential palace to try and stage a coup and reinstate Bolsonaro as president. They weren’t successful, thankfully, but they caused a lot of damage to the buildings and hurt people in the process.
Ever since this happened, the Brazilian supreme court has been trying to properly identify and bring every person responsible for this attack to justice, including the people who were behind the scenes spreading rumors and organizing the whole thing. So it was ruled that the social media and messaging apps that were used to spread misinformation and organize this attempted coup should hand the information they had about these people over so they could be properly investigated and prosecuted and ban them from using their services. Not doing so was, by very definition, an obstruction of Brazilian justice and therefore a criminal act. Twitter, at the time not ran by a conservative dipshit, was cooperative at first.
Enter Elon Musk, known conservative dipshit, who takes over Twitter, changes it to X and refuses to cooperate with the investigation, saying that it is a “violation of the free speech of the accused”. Upon being told by our Supreme Court minister, Alexandre de Moraes, that he was breaking Brazilian law, he got all pissy, ordered all of the X offices in Brazil to be closed down, accused Alexandre de Moraes of “just wanting his political opponents to be silenced”, threatened to unban everyone involved who had been previously banned before he took over X and called him “not even a real minister because he wasn’t elected” Yeah, no shit, dumbass. Ministers get appointed by the president over here.
Anyway, due to being a dumbass, Musk didn’t realize that closing down X’s offices in Brazil wouldn’t really change the fact that he was still breaking Brazilian law and, in fact, was just more obstruction of justice. So, Alexandre de Moraes gave him until the 31st of August (tomorrow, at the time I’m writing this) to send or appoint a new legal representative for X in Brazil to handle the court proceedings or X would be shut down in all of Brazil until he did. That’s when Musk started the Voldemort shit and made it clear he would NOT do that and saying that Alexandre de Moraes should be the one sent to jail for… I don’t even know. Wanting people who committed crimes to face consequences?
To sum it up… X is very likely going to close down indefinitely in Brazil because Elon Musk can’t stop himself from acting like a petulant toddler whenever he’s told to do something he doesn’t want, Elon Musk is dying on the hill of “protecting the free speech” of far-right criminals (which is not very surprising since most of his friends are far-right shitheads too) and the social media website he was forced to buy in order to not be charged with market manipulation that he has been steadily fucking to shit ever since is going to lose around 21 million users overnight. Masterful gambit, sir!

Donation links to help feed the people displaced by the floods happening in Rio Grand do Sul
The Homeless Workers' Movement (MTST) and the Landless Rural Workers' Movement (MST) are doing crowdfunding projects to help feed the displaced population in Rio Grande do Sul.
To donate you need to make an account on the website. It's rather quick to make an account, and your browser should be able to translate the website.

Cozinha Solidária da Azenha is very reliable, they've been providing free meals in Porto Alegre for a few years, and they're delivering meals to people displaced by the floods here in southern Brazil.
If you can donate, give preference to NGOs and social movements, and avoid government links.
If you're unsure a fundraising campaign is reliable, you can DM me.

this is a nightmare.
I know my account is small and I usually only use it to say stupid things about the silly media I consume, but this is very important.
The state I was born in is currently underwater. I lived there my entire life and left just six months ago. I have family and friends in Porto Alegre and Viamão but the area they live in wasn't as affected and they're all safe and at home. They are currently helping by distributing food and clothes. Most people weren't so lucky. They lost everything, many lost their lives. Civilian volunteers have been working day and night helping evacuate the victims.
This is the biggest catastrophe Rio Grande do Sul has ever faced.
If you could help at all, be it by donating or spreading awareness, please do.
Hey, chat. Sorry to be a bother, but this is kind of urgent: The south of Brazil is going through the worst and most catastrophic climatic disaster it has ever seen.
The whole state - an entire small country - is flooded. And there is still MORE rain to come.
I've gathered these sources with possible ways to donate to those who are currently stranded (all the airports are closes AND flooded) for my international pals. Those are all legit Institutions. Taken from William Shibuya's blog post:
First, fundraising efforts from GoFundMe:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-flood-victims-in-brazil-rio-grande-do-sul-rebuild
Second, PayPal to [email protected]
That email is to donate to an organization of Preto Zeze called CUFA - Central Única das Favelas (something like Unified Center of the Slums)
Any small amount helps, and if you cannot donate, please help spreading this around!

How you can help victims of the Rio Grande do Sul floods
Rescue efforts are ongoing in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil’s southernmost state, after floods and landslides left at least 100 people dead and displaced more than 200,000. As well as local residents, rescue groups have also dedicated themselves to saving pets stranded on rooftops and in flooded homes.
For those who live abroad and want to help, well-known NGOs are making their channels available for donations in foreign currency.
That is the case of the Brazil Foundation’s Luz Alliance Fund, created by fashion model Gisele Bündchen, and the Homeless Workers’ Movement’s (MTST) PayPal through its “Solidarity Kitchen” project. The MTST’s goal is to deliver 2,400 meals daily.
Another crowdfunding project is supported by companies and influencers from all over Brazil, and donations can be made in U.S. dollars, euros, and British pounds.
