the moment i entered the place irl i knew i had to do a spidersona attack based on it-hell i even kinda wished spiderverse did something like it (but obviously that would be wayyyy too confusing and complicated to be worth doing lol)

but hey im an artist i can do the idea myself!! and i did!!! hope yall enjoy, it was crazy foreshortening practice!!!

She goes by ‘Cardinal’ now-- at the very least, I can say that name isn’t getting stuck in my throat anytime I try to say it like her old name. But she still looks at me the same way (and I know what’s behind that look. I’ve seen myself through that look in nightmares and the waking world alike) and that’s how I knew. She didn’t deny it, either, though apparently she had ‘forgotten’ to mention it to the rest of her ‘teammates’. After that, she didn’t say much while we got the run-down of things. Honestly? I didn’t, either. Just asked stuff where I needed to.

She’s off somewhere else now, but I can feel her-- er, her Shard, at least. And since they’re both the Red Shard, I can feel them trying to sync up more than the usual, and... god, I feel gross. I’m still in my body (which is helping me ground myself) but every once in a while, it feels too close to what it was like before, and...

...I’m here. I just have to remember that I’m here. Not stuck with her. 

i stuck em to the ally wall with a web without thinking, like it was instinctive somehow, then we stared at each other for a good moment before i snapped out of it and pretended it wasnt me.

it was pretty dark so i think i had a pretty good chance of fooling him, i even got some spiders next to the guy to web him up more while i was in plain sight for extra convincing as i bolted

i did call the police right after anonymously, god i really hope they think its spider-man or something not me.

I wish I was kidding. New York is a place where somebody's mugged once every nine seconds, but all that crime is spread over five hundred square miles. Even if you glance into every alley you swing by, even if you make a map detailing what districts in the city get the most crime, your chances of actually finding a crime in progress is so infinitesimal that it's an open secret that "patrol" is just superhero-speak for "going for a walk."

Keep listening to the police scanner, but your best bet for beating the cops to the punch is to learn about the organized crime in your universe and keep your finger on that pulse. Or start looking into organized crime's big brother, corporate activity. If you don't wanna do that--before I get accused of sounding like a cop again--consider hanging out outside of nightclubs and bars around the time they start to close for the night. Make sure people are getting home safely. Or make sure cops in, like, Harlem or Brooklyn aren't looking for excuses to beat up kids. Or find out where the neo-Nazis hang out and put every single one of them in the hospital.

where's all the organized crime take place? abandoned warehouses? underground basements?

ive... considered the corporate side before, but i think ill keep it on the backburner for now.

ill do the bar and nightclub idea, it seems up my alley.
