I wouldn’t know the answer to that as I’ve never heard of such a thing and don’t plan on trying.

There was only one but I suppose one could argue there were two. Between those with elemental gifts like Kars, Wamuu and myself, life was quite different than those without, such as Santana. Tedious details really, but some argued a distinction.

We had a much more familial connection with those of whom you’d share an element—Wind, light, heat, water, rock. sleep together and such. Anyone older than you were your aunts and uncles, anyone younger were siblings; blood connections notwithstanding.

You see us eat, that’s what absorbing is to us. With our mouths you mean? That too, it’s just less convenient.

I mean you guys raised to kids together but what exactly are you two to each other?

Do pillar people only get facial markings or can they get them on their body and limbs too?

We get them when we’re infants, there are some who are born with marking-like patterns on their bodies but those are birthmarks—markings are specifically face tattoos inscribed with words and other minute details.

Only when it came to marriage, which didn’t happen often. Outside of that we had a culture of polyamorous relations.

They were properly prepared battles and everyone always came to watch the fight, young or old (no matter how busy as well). The bloodshed might’ve been a little too much for human tastes but even the loser thought it was all fun and games getting their leg broken. ☆

Hm, Interesting question, there’s little more to come in the way of honesty than politeness.

Kars is my partner—however you interpret that phrase—we’ve known each other the longest, long before the great downfall. We get along well, he’s very solitary but it seems I’m the exception to his solitude.

Wamuu is our eldest and most commendable. He’s well-spoken so even humans get along well with him; I like to think he took after me in that sense (^^).

Santana is our youngest, poor dear has always been the runt and so the object of Kars’ ire—he doesn’t have an element as the three of us do. It doesn’t bother me but it’s quite a big deal for Kars.

I’d say I get along well with all of them but it’s not much to say since I get along with people in general.

Ah, I remember being asked something similar a while ago, but you raise an interesting question.

They were both old enough where meat would substitute milk (you don’t have to chew when absorbing food after all). They were a little too slow to catch anything yet so we’d bring them rodents, rabbits and other small things.

It takes us 6000 years to adequately mature and around 10,000 to be considered fully mature in the modern human sense. Santana has recently come to this second milestone so by old standards he should be allowed to be independent of us… by Kars standards however… the requirement for full adulthood has been raised about five times now.

What were they like in general?

You’d think your species didn’t have any women the way I’ve seen some of you react to this revelation. Honestly, you might as well ask my opinion on the sky—it exists, what more can one say?

They were like us, they lived underground, hunted at night, wore very little clothing. My mother was a woman, so was my sister-in-law.

You’re right with your assertion of aesthetics over function (they’re a bit small for jousting anyway), but notably they do also play a role in our heat-sensing ability.

Mostly they were a quick way to tell how old one was… a picture of the soul—or maybe it might be more accurately said as fortune…

Like one that wasn’t there during the killing. One that had adapted to the modern world enough where they have found friends and family in humans? Who was too on a quest to conquer the sun in order to be closer to their newfound friends and family?

Well I can’t say some would be fond of it. Humans as family—it’s like an adult preferring the company of children—but instead this is flat out rejection.

Alas, I am not so different. I was willing to travel frozen mountains to learn from lesser beings, you know. There is knowledge you can only view in the right time and space. Sometimes that perfect spot is in the human world.

Our species died out; yours lived—we’ll all have to get over it at some point.

A hypothetical survivor isn’t too far fetched either… hm……moving on from that-

To conquer the sun may just tip someone’s plight in Kars’ favour but I am indifferent. To capture the sun or seize the stars, either way you walk the same Earth. It’s really no big deal to me.
