Top 10 [Most Influential] Albums. Liner Notes. . . The first home I'm conscious of was a 2bd/1ba apartment on Humphrey & Flournoy. I was nine and it was 8 of us: my dad, stepmom, step-sister, niece, step-brother, two brothers (J.Bell & C.Bell), and me. The place centered around the dining room. Wherever you went, you had to step foot in the dining room to get there. We never ate in there because that was my dad's "music room". #onGod, that room had a 9-piece drum kit, keyboard, two saxophones (one alto, the other ??), speakers, and a backup record player. I believe that room was my intro to the culture as my dad was all in on soul, funk, R&B, rock, disco, and probably much more than I'm aware of. I was 12 when I moved in with my mom. My oldest brother (T.Bell) stayed with us every now and then. 12-13 years older than Justyn and me, we were basically auditioning to be his Mini-Me. And because of his background, we dove into his music head first. Hip hop, reggae, electronic, hardcore punk, downtempo, house, classic rock, dancehall, etc. We touched everything because he had everything. On vinyl. On cassette. On compact disc. We had it all 'cause he had it all. When I was 15, my mom bought us a house and forever kept a turntable accessible to smooth us out with the blues, soul, jazz, and folk. She made us turn the TV off for dinner, but we could play a lil something in the family room. Sunday mornings were Muddy Waters, car rides were Tracy Chapman. My family's music raised me as much as they did. And now it's my music too. Forever grateful. ~Apple

Top 10 [Most Influential] Albums. Day 10 of 10. . . To say I come from a musical family is an understatement. And fortunately for me, we had crates of vinyl around the house (mostly in the garage and basement). Most were my older brother's. This record was my introduction to Jimi and his genius. And it was live. When I heard "Machine Gun" for the first time ... WTF. The noises coming from that thing strapped on Jimi's shoulder. Lord-Hay-Zeus. No one comes close. And when I found out that the person making this beautiful noise was a brotha from the Pacific NW, done. I began my journey with this man. Here's to the GOAT and his "Band of Gypsys".

Top 10 [Most Influential] Albums. Day 9 of 10. . . Hands down, the MOST influential artist of the last 15 years. This record was the start of a cultural movement that persists today. And the way Kanye introduced himself to the masses was legendary. The final track on this classic constantly reminds me: be the first to tell your story ... don't allow anyone the opportunity to fumble that moment. And then prove the Dreamkillers wrong. #nameOneGeniusThatAintCrazy

Top 10 [Most Influential] Albums. Day 8 of 10. . . To be honest, I didn't listen to GGD much before this album and I haven't kept up with them since this album. But man o' man, this record is amazing. When I began traveling a lot for basketball camps and tournaments, one track in particular was my hoop theme song. So you can imagine how important this album was in my formative years. #onGod, shoutout to Johnny and Robby for making something unforgettable.

Top 10 [Most Influential] Albums. Day 7 of 10. . . Maaaaaannnn, this is record is Chicago AF. Especially, the skits ... sooooooo Chicago. I bet all the brothas I grew up with had this album. I can easily quote every line. It's our lingo. This made me feel like the world knew about the West Side. #ayJoe

Top 10 [Most Influential] Albums. Day 6 of 10. . . I don't remember when I first heard this. But I do remember where: Tony's 2nd floor apartment on Kenilworth. I remember it was loud. I remember my first thought: "what kinda black dude listens to this?" I was like 9 or 10 years old, but I kept listening. Then, I remember thinking that this was something different. I had no idea what it was though. But in hindsight, no one did.
