Your Guess is as Good as Mine

The brainworms keep worming cause I wanted to draw some interacting figures. AU Mira still has her familial issues, just with a dash of ‘raised to survive an impending apocalypse via trial by fire’… Mira, I’m so sorry, I think the daddy issues might be worse now.

To be more exacting, and a lot of this is inspired by fanfictions from the MAWS fandom on what Lois' childhood was really like: Mira was essentially raised to be the 'swiss-army knives of survivors'. At first when she was younger (5-6) it was more reasonable things, like navigation using compasses/stars, hunting and foraging, establishing shelters, fire-starting, useful materials that can be found or made, tracking, etc. As she got older though (10-11ish), the training got more intense building off what she'd been taught. Being thrown and made to tread in icy lake water for hours to train out the human instinct to freeze and go into shock at extreme temperature shifts. How to navigate back to a set meeting point in the dark alone without alerting anything, and how to respond to an ambush scenario. Being abandoned in the middle of a trip to track her dad for practice. Eventually, (13) moving more into martial arts and combat-training which is also when she learned to clean, sterilize, and stitch up wounds, set broken bones & dislocations, signs of and how to treat infections. One a slightly fun note, I think Mira would've really loved learning Capoeira and that's one she still keeps up with. Have any of y'all seen 'Hanna'? Picture that as a parallel for these survival trips

This take on Mira’s dad is pretty in line with a more intense Sam Lane, but I think the interactions into season 2 would be much different with Mira than canon Lois.

Mira is never going to beat lovergirl allegations, she dragged both Zoey and Rumi back to her apartment as soon as the dust settled to tend to wounds and get some good food in them asap, otherwise Superwoman would run herself ragged with reconstruction efforts and Zoey would be working on community organization until she passes out. (They help out once Mira has given them the all-clear and keeps them from losing track of time completely—Mira works on making meals to pass around for people who may have been displaced due to infrastructure damage)

But yea, so fun fact about MAWS Lois Lane, certified ass kicker, and of course Mira keeps that certification up to date! In canon it’s implied more than shown that those survival trips were a lot, but I like some fandom interpretation of how intense they really were, and how that impacted her issues with secrets and lying. It may be one factor that led to such an extreme need for truthfulness by her brain linking the two together.
