Hit 'em right between the eyes || DI & Maddox
Diana took one last look back at the dropship before heading out on her own with her spear in hand. She was proud of making it, more proud of the knots and how sheâd attached the jagged piece of metal to the end of the stick, and now she was going to learn how to use it. Survival class hadnât exactly been weapons training, and theyâd never use something so primitive anyway. But it was what Diana had to work with, and sheâd decided to live up to the name of the goddess her mom had seemed to like so much. There had to be animals on the ground, right? Even if theyâd been elusive up until now. And Diana wanted to be a hunter. itâs be much better than sitting around camp doing more domestic things, at least, and she was fast and not squeamish.Â
Once sheâd reached a reasonable distance, still able to hear the ruckus of the camp but far enough to not really be questioned, she carved an âXâ into a large tree trunk and started practicing. She was getting good and after going for a while, just as she was going to throw again, she heard a twig snap behind her and turned, aiming the spear at the sound. âItâs not smart to sneak up on a girl with a weapon,â she called out.
Sweat poured down Madd's forehead as her arms strained from the weight. She'd been helping a punk girl build a "living room" off the side of camp, hauling wood, chairs, and whatever was needed towards the far corners of the woods. In exchange, she'd been promised a short sword: a huge upgrade from the rough knives she'd crafted herself. The knives were functional, yes, but only in combat. Besides, were extremely aesthetically unpleasant. Setting down the last chair, Maddox looked up, hopping the purple-haired girl would be satisfied with her work. She was, and after moving a few things around, Madd was good to go. "Thanks," she called out, sticking the towel-wrapped sword into her backpack. Though still rough around the edges, as it was reconstructed solely with scrap metal, she had to admit it was pretty cool-looking. In this case, her effort had definitely paid off. Hearing a noise a few meters before her, Maddox slowed, hoping to draw as little attention to herself as possible. She didn't know who the heck was out there, and thought it best to play it safe. "Fuck," she exclaimed, flinching as a spear appeared right beside her face. She backed away slowly, raising her hands in self defense. "I'm just your average girl trying to make her way back to camp. I wasn't doing anything sketchy, really!"
