vincent’s parents are not actually his biological parents. they were in the hospital the day he was born and, devastated following the birth complications that led to the loss of their own child, they became transfixed with the little newborn in the NICU. vincent’s birth mother was confronted with some post-birth medical scares. having monitored this from the hall, the padilla’s determined that the only way the boy could have a decent life was if they took him away from harm -- away from his ailing mother. on the day that he was scheduled to go home with his mother (whose condition had not improved), hailey and mark padilla entered the NICU on the dl and whisked the little baby away with them. it wasn’t too difficult of a feat, seeing as mark’s friend worked as a nurse at the hospital. the padillas assumed his birth mother would not make it. what they didn’t expect was for an alert to go out just hours later about an infant missing from the county hospital. in response to this, they decided to move out of california and cross the country to new york. there, they crafted the perfect life for little vincent -- the name they chose for their son. vincent has begun to suspect something fishy about his past, ever since he worked on a project concerning kidnapping in his sociology class. while on a website listing missing children throughout the 1990′s gathering research, he stumbled upon a sketch of a boy that would have been about 17 now -- a picture that his partner joked looked just like him. cyrus mccabe was the boy’s name. he hasn’t expressed his concerns or doubts to anyone else yet. 

in general, vin is really calm and creative. he plays the acoustic guitar and the cello. he also enjoys nature, and will often go for long walks when it’s raining. something about the white noise around him helps ease his mind. tbh he also cooks a lot? he’ll bring in food for his friends to try because he’s just that kid.

he’s a really chill guy. like, no joke, it takes moving an entire mountain to get him really upset. when things are on his mind he can be distant or detached, but he’s honestly that dude who reminds everyone of mint green and fresh cut grass -- just really down to earth and kind.

that being said, while he might be softspoken sometimes, he’s anything but shy. vin likes joking around and having nice conversations. if someone crosses him, he won’t shy away from calmly defending himself. he’s a gentle soul, but not one to be tread upon.

he’s been here at riverview since the middle of freshman year. he transferred after his “parents” grew worried that his public school was growing suspicious about his documents (which are forged). also, he happened to have his first boyfriend in his freshman year, and let’s just say when he brought the other boy to the winter formal at his old school, things didn’t exactly go over well. as soon as he came home with a black eye, that was it -- his parents moved him to riverview without a second thought.

as for clubs, vin actually prefers flying solo for most things. he likes engaging in his interests when he feels like it; he’s kind of a free spirit like that. scheduled meetings kinda weigh him down. even so, he’s been considering joining the lacrosse team for a while, and is a member of the math club (as per his parents’ request).
