a rating of all the frogs in my neighbors’ frog-themed bathroom
very round and good! his face shows an emotion that i can’t quite describe. 10/10
here we have an arts and crafts frog! he has a nice figure but his lack of eyes is unsettling. 6/10
this is a truly excellent frog, he’s going places and he doesn’t care how long it takes. 12/10 for realism.
this frog looks like he’s having a cheeky little giggle at you for being in the bathroom for so long. something about him unsettles me. 2/10
this is the woodchime frog. he watches you smugly. i don’t like how he’s watching me, 5/10 because he’s kinda cute anyway
i hate it. 0/10
this fellow is perched right next to the toilet. one eye stares directly at your back, while the other looks at the wall. 6/10 good frog shape but still very unsettling
a truly excellent pair of comrades! double frog points 20/10
it’s Awful. -5/10
Important thread by Jared A. Walker in his interactions with WestJet and their zero exceptions policies on baggage from Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago.
I really hope WestJet listens and changes their policies. This is disgusting.

Being an adult is having the “we have food at home” talk with yourself.
This is the true internal crisis for me
SAY IT AS LOUD AS YOU CAN
WRITE THIS ON EVERYTHING
PUT THIS ON A FUCKING PLAQUE IN EVER LAW OFFICE, MILITARY BASE, AND ORGANIZATIONAL HALLS.
A heavy police presence was on hand for the demonstration by far-right groups. Meanwhile, a pro-refugee caravan is on its way to St-Bernard-de-Lacolle
Far-right protesters gathered Sunday in front of Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s offices at the corner of St-Antoine and Peel Sts. in downtown Montreal.
About 200 members of the groups La Meute and Storm Alliance demonstrated on St-Antoine St. after exiting from the building at 1000 de La Gauchetière a little after 1 p.m., shouting slogans and uttering wolf howls.
A large police presence was on hand for the event and St. Antoine Street was closed between Mansfield and Peel Sts.

Being eligible for Indian Status in Canada hinges on the baptismal record of her great-great-great grandmother.
A First Nations woman working to revive a threatened language in her traditional territory of northern British Columbia says she’s being forced to leave the country on Canada Day.
Mique'l Dangeli belongs to the Tsimshian First Nation, whose territory straddles the border between Alaska and British Columbia. She says Canada won’t recognize her right to live and work in B.C. because she was born on the American side on Annette Island Indian Reserve.
Her visa expires July 1, she said.
“For me, what I consider home is my home community and my people’s traditional territory, which is northern B.C.,” she said. “We’re not immigrants to our people’s traditional territory.”

when christian artists change the line in hallelujah from “maybe there’s a God above” to “I know that there’s a God above” >:c
#idk why i’m so unreasonably angry#maybe cuz it’s my fav line
it’s also because Leonard COHEN (!) was Jewish and this is a quintessentially Jewish line, and changing it to that level of Annoying Certainty is stripping it of its Jewish meaning and imbuing it with that particularly American smug evangelical Christian attitude that makes me tired, so very tired
THAT IS EXACTLY WHY
I don’t think I’ve heard any cover artist sing my favorite verses You say I took the name in vain I don’t even know the name But if I did, well really, what’s it to you? There’s a blaze of light In every word It doesn’t matter which you heard The holy or the broken Hallelujah I did my best, it wasn’t much I couldn’t feel, so I tried to touch I’ve told the truth, I didn’t come to fool you And even though It all went wrong I’ll stand before the Lord of Song With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah
um woah
I will always hit the reblog button so hard for Hallelujah but ESPECIALLY mentions of the elusive final verses which are just about my favorite lyrics ever. Why do people always omit the best part of the song??
In Yiddish
In Hebrew
In Ladino
It got better
Also people keep putting it on Christmas albums? Like not only is it a Jewish song, holiday albums are pure cheese. Hallelujah is about losing faith. It’s like putting Losing My Religion on a Christmas album because it has the word Religion in the title.
I…had no idea this was a traditional Jewish song. That makes me all the more confused on why it was used in Shrek 1 the way it was.
The same day Doug Ford was sworn in his newly appointed Deputy Attorney General quietly passed a memo revoking the OSIU (Ontario Special Investigations Act) Act.
This is the OSIU Act:
Ontario strengthening police oversight, redefining core police duties
Ontario passes law overhauling policing rules in province
diacrit replied to your link “Ontario to end free prescriptions for kids, young adults with private…”
Alright, let’s take a breathe. While this is obviously a move in the wrong direction, and it’s telling that this is one of the first moves, this isn’t a repeal of OHIP+. It only affects children who are already covered by their parents insurance. It means medical bills will first be charged to their private insurance, and then the remainder will be paid by the government. It won’t affect anyone who doesn’t have private insurance.
I never said the program was ending and neither did the article, which I quoted long enough to ensure that people knew what the PC’s are doing.
Stripping a universal healthcare policy so that it is only universal if you don’t have private insurance is a BAD THING.Â
Stripping universality from public programs is the first step in how privatization and defunding of public programs happens. People should not have to depend on private insurance to know whether they are covered or not. The point of a universal system is that everyone is covered no matter what. This is how Canada’s healthcare system is based, and it is how pharmacare should be based.
And what happens if the private insurance providers find a loophole not to pay or worse yet decide to leave Ontario because the added healthcare costs hurt their businesses? Do you really think Doug will just fund everyone if that happens? No he’ll probably try to find a way to defund the whole program.
This also hurts teens and young adults in abusive homes. Sometimes barriers to seeking medical treatment include one’s own family.
Having young folks insured without having to go through their parents’ private insurance leads to more teens and young adults having a more comprehensive say in their own healthcare and removes an unnecessary barrier of access.
Especially for the young adults who are trying to get their lives together healthcare access is one of the ways abusive parents keep hold over their adult children and that goes double for disabled folks.
For many Ontarians this is not going to have an immediate effect, but weakening hard-earned gains in the healthcare system is always a step for more. And historically the conservatives always take more steps towards privatization, they start with more things that seem innocuous, but when we let healthcare coverage slide it never stops in just one place.
These gains are hard-earned through the efforts of those that came before, trying to fight for better healthcare and coverage for all Canadians. It was a step towards true universal healthcare that actually included pharmacare for all Canadians, but now that is already being clawed back.Â
It gets harder to achieve the goal of universal pharmacare if we do this two steps forward one step back dance. Especially since the conservatives take as many steps back as they can at a time and sometimes we get two steps forward ten steps back.
And as I have said, this will have an immediate impact on some of the most vulnerable among us.
While I’m relieved they aren’t full-on repealing, this is still nefarious as hell. Expanding on the above poster’s concerns about teens in abusive homes, I see an even more concerning slant on this. YOUNG AFAB FOLKS COULD GET THEIR BIRTH CONTROL COVERED WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THEIR PARENTS’ INSURANCE ON OHIP+. When you consider the Ford government’s pandering to the religious right, their promised strip-down of the sex-ed curriculum, and desire to interfere with young people’s ability to get an abortion without going through their parents, this paints a REALLY dark picture for reproductive rights. Because you know the kids whose parents will keep them in the dark about sex are the same ones who would get abusive if they attempted to get birth control and/or needed an abortion. So: Don’t teach kids about safe sex. Restrict their ability to obtain birth control. Restrict their ability to obtain an abortion. THIS SHOULD BE A CONCERN TO EVERYONE. THIS IS DEEPLY ALARMING. THIS LEAVES YOUNG PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY YOUNG AFAB PEOPLE, EXTREMELY VULNERABLE ESPECIALLY IF THEY’RE IN CONTROLLING ANTI-SEX HOUSEHOLDS OR IF THEY ARE BEING SEXUALLY ABUSED ESPECIALLY BY A FAMILY MEMBER.
Seems like a legit form of measurement
