I personally think that the debate on Rock Paper Scissors is so confusing because people play it differently in different regions
Iβm Singaporean, so we typically say βScissors, Paper, Stone,β going right on βStoneβ, meaning we go right on the three, and our chant is different from anyone who says βRock Paper Scissorsβ I have yet to find a single SG person who starts out with Rock paper scissors. (Incorrect information-Edit on the bottom)
from what Iβve seen from American friends, since, they typically go βRock, Paper, Scissors, SHOOTβ where they would go on βShootβ βmeaning they go AFTER three. (WOW weβre really shooting from the hip hereβ)
so given AJ grew up at France at one point Iβm not surprised that he might have learnt a different version
but IDK just thought about it because I JUST played a game with my sister and I came to the sudden realisation the only time Iβve ever heard Rock Paper Scissors was with American friends and on Western TV
in Chinese I believe itβs βη³ε€΄γεͺεγεΈ!β (Shi tou, Jian Dao, Bu!) going on the last word, BU! Also doing it right on three, from what Iβve observed with my Singaporean Chinese friends (I find this interesting because the order this time is βrock, scissors, paperβ) (incorrect edit on the bottom)
And in Korean (Iβm not an expert in the language) itβs like βGawi Bawi Bo!β Going on βBoβ, also going on three, where I believe the order is βscissors, rock, paperβ
so yeah just imagine these two poor guys who made up the game spreading it to other countries and it becoming so diluted that the order, the timing, and the way itβs played (with Korean having a little chant at the beginning that means something like βyouβll lose if you donβt put your hand outβ) gets so mixed up they also themselves forget what theyβre supposed to do when playing because they somehow know all forms of the game and now canβt reconcile on which is a better one
(my apologies for any inaccuracies, Iβm only going on my broad knowledge with my studies in Chinese and my experience in SG)
GUYS I MADE A MISTAKE to anyone who sees this:
The order of words in SG is correct, following Scissors, Paper, Stone, but the way we do it is in a beat of five, much like this
"scis-sors, pa-per, stone!" Going on the fifth, right on STONE.
the Chinese version is similar, going on the fifth, on BU! Since η³ε€΄ and εͺε have two characters in one word, they're also separated into two beats, meaning it goes like "Shi-tou, Jian-Dao, Bu!β The order of the words is correct though, βRock, Scissors, Paper.β
I legitimately forgot that there were more beats than three and some of your reblogs helped me remember how beats ACTUALLY work relying on RHYTHM rather than the word ππ so thank you to helpful reblogs.
