Could it be possible, within the limits of what is feasible, that Sam might simply have been given a free pass for hair-raising intellectual lapses, abysmal grammar and behaviour that the UN have officially not approved of - and in return, Tom, Luke and AJ are allowed to climb all over him and fondle him as they see fit? This seems to apply particularly to Tom, who appears to suffer the most, yet also cuddles Sam at every opportunity. It would be a highly controversial and delicate agreement, sure, but how else are we to explain what we are witnessing?
