Hopping on the gravity falls train! This is my gravity falls oc Allegra. She was a paleontologist for 10 years before the accident in 1982 and haunts a pocket watch. Anywhere the watch goes so does she. Despite her sarcastic comments and dad jokes she's a great companion 👻

hello!!!!
I was wondering if you had any tips about writing prologues. Like what type of context is relevant enough and how to not make them drag. <3
Hi, thanks for asking! When writing a prologue, you want to provide context without overwhelming your readers or confusing them too much. Here are some tips:
Purpose: Define the prologue's purpose. Is it to set the tone? Introduce a key event or character? Provide background information? Clear something up later on? Foreshadowing?
Hook the reader: A prologue should demand a reader's attention and entice them to continue, like through an intriguing event or dramatic scene.
Keep it concise: Aim for a length of 1-5 pages (depending on your genre and style). Any longer and you risk losing your reader's interest. Any lengthy exposition or detailed world-building can be integrated into the main story.
Relevant context: Only include information that's crucial to understanding the story. Avoid unnecessary details—those can be cleared up later in the story. Focus mainly on the elements that directly influence the plot or character motivations.
Avoid info dumping: Don't overload your prologue with too much exposition or world-building; keep it focused on the essential elements.
Create intrigue: Being vague about the character, setting, or time frame can create a sense of mystery that compels readers to continue. Introduce elements that are not immediately clear or fully explained. When they are finally revealed later on , the readers experience a satisfying "aha" moment as they make the connection and the pieces fall together.
Link to the main story: Ensure the prologue connects to the main narrative (though it may not be evident at the start). This can be through a character, event, or theme.
Here are a few commonly used approaches you may want to consider:
A dramatic event that sets the story in motion
A prophecy or prediction
A historical or mythological context
A mysterious or ominous scene
The bottom line is, keep it engaging, concise, and relevant. The goal of a prologue should be to entice your reader and set the stage for the story to come. Hope this helped ❤
In the heat of battle, photographer Horace Bristol captured one of the most unique and erotic photos of WWII.
Bristol photographed a young crewman of a US Navy “Dumbo” PBY rescue mission, manning his gun after having stripped naked and jumped into the water of Rabaul Harbor to rescue a badly burned Marine pilot. The Marine was shot down while bombing the Japanese-held fortress of Rabaul.
“…we got a call to pick up an airman who was down in the Bay. The Japanese were shooting at him from the island, and when they saw us they started shooting at us. The man who was shot down was temporarily blinded, so one of our crew stripped off his clothes and jumped in to bring him aboard. He couldn’t have swum very well wearing his boots and clothes. As soon as we could, we took off. We weren’t waiting around for anybody to put on formal clothes. We were being shot at and wanted to get the hell out of there. The naked man got back into his position at his gun in the blister of the plane.”
“And well, there was his butt, and I had a camera. I mean I AM a historian.”
I was everything BUT prepared for the absolutely hilarious tags and comments after my Moon reveal-
Well, I’ll be out a few days! Wonder what will happen while I’m gone.
see yall soon! <3

Digital Artists!
I've read some articles but still feel a bit lost. If I were hoping to learn how to draw digitally, do you have a favorite app that would help me along the way? I have ZERO traditional art experience. I mean, I can paint a bit, but when it comes to drawing, I have no sense of depth or angle or any of it. So an app that would hold my hand and teach me like an idiot would be greatly appreciated. If it exists. ;) And any and all information that you've gleaned along the way or stuff you wish you knew as a beginner would be lovely!
SO GRATEFUL for all of you and so in awe of your gift!
Sincerely,
A Writer Who Draws Like an 8-Year-Old 🤓
Reblogging because I would like to find a way digital art can work for me too!

Hi! I’d love to share what I do!
First off, I use an iPad that is compatible with an Apple Pencil because I have found that it’s by far the most comfortable tool. I tried using a drawing tablet with Photoshop and I could just never get into it…
Another thing to note is that my opinions on digital art platforms are shaped by my background as a painter, and less as a drawer.
I use Procreate, which is an app created specifically for iPad. It is, in my opinion, one of the most powerful digital art platforms.
It has a myriad of wonderful default brushes and textures, which are heavily customizable. You can also import your own brushes from a lot of sites for little to no cost.
A few examples of why I love Procreate so much:
1. Almost infinite layering! This is great for people who have a paint-y style or like to have a number of references or sketches
2. Intuitive selection! You can select a piece of your drawing and scale it or reshape it without having to erase and start all over! This is great if you’re like me and never get both eyes quite the right size on the first try lol
3. Honestly just the amount of tools at your disposal… I use this menu literally constantly to adjust colors exactly to my liking! You can also create drawing guides/grids or even a mirroring function for drawing symmetrical patterns!
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk! I hope this helps!
