I've been very overly apologetic and at the same time distrustful of people. Whenever I'm told "it's fine" or "no need to apologize", I simply do not believe it. I'm sure they mean it, but deep down I remain doubtful. I wonder if it's actually because of my inherent dishonesty, that I find it so difficult to take people for their word. If I'm mad, I just tell people it's okay. When the situation is trivial, I overdramatize. If others are happy without my input, I get jealous. It truly saddens me how much of this I have inherited from my father. I've often had fantasies of cutting out everything I inherited from him out with a knife. Of course, that can't exactly be done metaphorically, nor literally. Which is why I should stop trying. But I should try to be more sincere with others somehow. My only problem is that the real me isn't someone I am proud of. I'd rather they remain in the background.
