So...
Looking back to Indonesia...
The drawing session at the end of the assembly left us with this long scroll made by everyone. Chaotic at at times but introspective at others.
The dynamic consisted of a drawing scandal, multiple voices drawing at the same time, the paper, pens and the table were there to follow... plenty space to play around, plenty drawing to hide secrets.
DIY, DIWO / DIT & Critical mass
From the beginning, Lifepatch’s work was intriguing. Two members of the Indonesian community-based citizen initiative participated during the Arts Collaboratory meeting in Jakarta, Jatiwangi and Yogyakarta. Their object presented at ruangrupa during the presentation round described Lifepatch’s collaborative, interdisciplinary, creative production perfectly: A 360 degrees panorama view of a canal site in Yogyakarta and under a microscope connected to a monitor, a sample taken at the site. Art, science and technology mixed creatively and innovatively.
Collectiveness vs. Competitiveness
The first session of the OPEN OPEN working group started with a round of questions from the Latino partners towards the Indonesian partners. A number of things have impressed and startled us about the way so many seem so happily and intensely work together in Jakarta, Jatiwangi and Jogjakarta and we wondered how could we get some of this practice of sharing to Latin America. Or as Waysatta from Crater Invertido (Mexico) put it: “Do you think that collaborative practice/attitude and solidarity are replicable?”
Centre Soleil d’Afrique was the organization that Más Arte Más Acción had to interview. While Jonathan woke up Rocca to be interviewed. I was trying to talk with Hama and I say trying because my english is not the best however between laughter, ojek’s noise and an unusual breakfast, we did it.

The potential for longing in the practice of organizing
What did you get from the assembly?
Chantal asked me this question on the last day of assembly. My answers at that time were quite cliche. I said that I felt very happy to find shared practices with many organizations within the Arts Collaboratory network and I wanted to collaborate with them. Later at night, I kept thinking about my answers. Indeed, it was very exciting to meet people from different places, specific context, and also at the same time, we shared the same passion. Yet, it was not always ‘rainbows, butterflies and unicorns’ kind of experience.
AC General Assembly in Yogyakarta, hosted by KUNCI

Indonesian food that looks like a picture. Or a fossil. Made of shrimps and dough. Looked so nice and artistic that I doubted about eating it. But I did.

It's not about money, money, money...
Today we had another working group. Topic - organizational issues and sustainability. And you know what? There is something that I am quite confused about. We have come to some good ideas, for example, make a 360 degrees web gallery, making our joint exhibition that could help us in financial terms too. We also continued the idea that came from another working group on the general web site describing the various projects in a standardized structured form. However ... one thought bothered me all the time. Why all the talk about our sustainability constantly reduced to funding ? Why did we talk so much about money? After all, money is not the only nor the main condition of success. Recall the example of Jatiwangi. First of all the idea. Second comes the money. We need to think bigger, think more, not that conservative habitual way. Not that administrative maybe..I don't know.. Yes, we had some good ideas, and yet it's a good set of standard solutions, but not a global approach to create something entirely new. What are we afraid of? The worst thing is to become too conserved, too stuck to what we already have done and loose the creativity. That is what I personally think.

Jatiwangi Art Factory Strategy
Jatiwangi Art Factory - one of the most exciting things that we met in Indonesia. For a long time wanted to write a post, but could not due to our rich program. But this story deserves your attention.
On the way from Jakarta to Yogyakarta we stayed in Jatiwangi - the village. We came to the factory, where people work with clay, mainly using it for the production of tiles. Roofs of many houses in Indonesia are made of tiles, orange, and look nice and cheerful through the lush green foliage of the the most diverse and unusual plants growing in this fertile soil.

I have many questions regarding a certain specific little invisible event that occurred on the night of the day tuesday 20th of the 5th month of the year 2014. It was as it was, and nobody seemed to noticed about it at first but as our enquiry shows that little event built something underneath everyone of us. This is the story of a deathly friendship, but not have this post mistaken for a joke… No! I want to say for the record of the general assembly in jakarta/yogjakarta indonesia that an event occurred an it was as important as the other events.

I talked with Ismaal from Jatiwangi. Mostly I was curious about how they expressed about themselves and how they were reinvented through the stories they told about themselves.
As we talked he used some images or metaphores to explain me certain things. We had very little time and I was excited about what he was telling me, I might have had a glimpse of something bigger. Here are some extracts of what was a very quick and full of amazement talk.
