She slowly closes the door behind her as she comes in, creeping up the stairs and stepping on all the places she knew didn’t creak. Coming up the attic, she slowly pushes the door open, surprised to see that Dipper was still up, his face dimly lit from the glow of the laptop. “Oh, uh - hey bro,” She murmurs, trying to play it cool. “I can’t believe you’re still up,” She says, crouching at the pile of clothes at the end of her bed, trying to find her pajamas. 

“Is it a crime to stay up late worrying for my sister in Gravityfall’s? I mean there are monsters out there that can kill you or morph and trick you why shouldn’t I stay up late and wait,” he spoke in defiance and went back to his furious typing on his computer.

Walking over to his bed, she sits beside him, pouting as she looks at him. “Look… I’m sorry I was out later than I said I was going to be.” He had been acting different since she started seeing Lucas. Sure, he was never too fond of previous boyfriends she’d had, but this was… Different. “And I know I’ve been spending a lot of time with lately, so I’m sorry about that…” She wrings her hands in her lap. “But you don’t need to be so upset… What’s wrong?” 

Looking up from his computer he looked at her hand and sighed. ‘No Dipper, don’t she has a boyfriend already.’ he thought and looked back at his computer frustraighted. “Spending a lot of time, more like every hour of the day, I never see you anymore Mabel, and when I do it’s late at night!” He shouted quietly in defence and clenched his fists slightly as he typed. “Mabel your different with him, it’s like we are just ghosts to you when he is around, you’ve already forgotten about our mystery hunt day you promised we would do three weeks ago and it was yesterday!” He spoke furiously and hid his actual feelings like he always had, slight sadness lingering in his eyes.

“Listen, Dipper, it’s…I know I haven’t been around lately. And trust me, I want to be, but…” She lets out a deep sigh, gripping her hair. “It’s just hard to explain.”

Satisfied with it he sighed and took his phone before walking toward the door and pausing to hear her speak before he went for a walk to relax himself with nature.

“It’s… It’s hard to explain, but…” She lets out a breath, gripping her hair as she puffs out of her cheeks. “I can’t stop thinking about you. Like… And not just hanging out, or monster hunting. .  .” She looks away then, her body feeling hot with embarrassment. “Y-you know… Like touching you, and…”She swallows. “That’s why I’ve been with Lucas so much lately. I thought he could get my mind off you, but it’s only made it worse. Because now, when he kisses me, and when he touches me, I… . I want it to be you.”

Everything felt right with this moment to him. But for a while he had forgotten about Lucas the moment she said ‘I want it to be you,’ it made him feel better all his worrying about himself being the awkward one to like her.

Pressing her lips to his once more, she pulls away for a moment, looking up at him with wide eyes. “Dipper, I -” she cuts off, unsure of what to say. 

“You don’t need to feel bad about this. I was the one who brought it up, and… Well, I’ll talk to Lucas. I don’t know. But. .  .We should just keep this between us.”
