this wasn't meant to be particularly angsty, frankly I think there's something so beautiful about that scene and then the forgiveness scene. putting on my lawrellini lenses: the one who loves you the most is the one who knows you the most and thus can call you out. because love isn't putting someone on a pedestal and thinking they're an angel, pure and perfect. that is bullshit writing for teenagers. that does not exist. the trust and respect and admiration that exist so thomas can say that hurtful thing to aldo. of course it hurts, no matter which side you take. it is embarrassing to be called out by the person you love. to hear them saying your actions look ugly to them. no one likes that. or to be on the other side of that either. but on the same ground lies the beauty of the forgiveness scene. the level of mutual respect between those two. years and years and years of knowing each other, letting each other see what lies within. the level of trust that it takes to go through the harshness knowing they will be side by side in the next morning. love is not a victory march, it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah.
