after six years.. 🥀
I finished rewatching the series after six years of not having seen it.
I have to say that my opinion has changed quite a bit since last time. Let me make one thing clear : I LOVE THIS SHOW. I love everything it brought me over the four years it aired. I'll never forget the feelings and emotions I experienced while watching it. The actors are all incredible and hold a special place in my heart. I'm so happy for all the interactions I've had here with such an amazing and always kind fandom. Thank you for everything.
Let's get down to business. I'll say it now: overall, I'm disappointed with the show. Seasons 1 and 2 remain the best of the series for me. I always rewatch the episodes with immense pleasure. Everything was perfect. The character development, their treatment: EVERYONE HAD THEIR PLACE AND THEIR IMPORTANCE.
I can't explain the pain and sorrow I felt watching seasons 3 and 4.. At the time I didn't want to face reality, but what torture! It was a complete 180-degree turn. I felt like I was watching a completely different version of the show. The characters were nothing like the ones from previous seasons. For me, really only Frank, Helen, Ed, and Tagomi stayed true to themselves. The rest of the characters remain a complete mystery to me. The worst for me are Juliana and Joe. It’s sad to say, but I hated them in Season 3. I couldn’t bring myself to like their “relationship” because their characters were so poorly written. All those lies between them. Everything I hate! And Watts "replacing" Joe leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth.
Season 4 is just as bad as Season 3. Tagomi suddenly dies OFF-SCREEN? No, I won’t accept such a lack of respect for that character. Just like Ed, who disappears from the show without any explanation. I’m not even going to get into John’s character. The guy wants to create more concentration camps? No, that’s not possible. The system that killed his son, and he wants to create more of them? He also lies to Helen even though they've been honest with each other from the start. #NOTMYJOHNSMITH. The worst part: your show is about parallel universes, and they don’t even bring Joe, Frank, and Tagomi back? (Even for a few minutes?) I think there were so many better things they could have done… And am I allowed to say that Kido's character hasn't evolved at all? I thought he might with Gina, but that idea was quickly dropped in season 4.
The only character who, in my opinion, was perfect from start to finish: HELEN SMITH 👸 Thank you for creating such a strong female character. I absolutely love her! Much more than Juliana now. And thank you, Childran, for bringing the humor to this show.
Don't think it's easy for me to write all this. It's not easy to face reality..
But despite all that: THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING ❤️
