i think the “you always have to be grateful and smile no matter what you’re going through” has become an insane toxic coping mechanism we’ve developed since covid and it’s completely invalidating how hard some traumatic life events are for people entirely. you need to grieve!!! you need to feel sad!!! you don’t always have to be happy!!! and if people around you are refusing to help because they can’t handle your emotions then those people need to go too!!!
