If you had to navigate the internet in a language you didn't understand and couldn't even read, how would you go about it?

My friend Wesal (@deemagaza) doesn't speak English. The only way she can find her way around the English internet is by using Google Translate or ask others like me for help. It is very difficult for her.

Yet she has no choice but to do so for her daughter Farah, almost sixteen now, who is autistic and has a kidney problem that - without treatment - makes her deficient in potassium, which, if it becomes too severe, can lead to cardiac arrest.

^ Farah spends most of her days like this now, feeling uncomfortable in her body, but not understanding why.

Farah's medication has become unavailable in Gaza, which has endangered her life and means she has to be treated in the hospital, which is costly and where they are running out of resources as well. Farah's case has now been referred to the WHO to be transferred abroad. If the opportunity for evacuation arises, we must make sure the funds are available!

Today, I returned to my home... or what is left of it.

I only went to visit one of my neighbors, but I came back carrying a pain beyond words. I cried like I have never cried before.

I had hoped to see my neighborhood as it once was—to see my neighbors again, to see life return, to find my home the way I had left it. But the reality was more heartbreaking than I could have imagined.

My home—the place where we kept everything my husband had left for us, everything we had worked so hard to save so our children could feel safe—is now nothing but rubble.

Nothing remains the same. Among the broken concrete and dust, I saw the remains of our furniture, shattered and destroyed, as if telling the story of a home that was once full of love and life, only to have everything taken away.

I stood there, completely helpless, trying to understand what I was seeing. But my heart was crying long before the tears began to fall.

This kind of pain cannot be described. It cannot truly be explained. Only those who have lived through it can understand what it feels like.

We are no longer asking for comfort or luxury. We only want to live with dignity and provide our children with a safe place to call home, even if it is the simplest of shelters.

Taj is only 18 months old, but her story is extraordinary. While she was still in her mother’s womb, her mother suffered a severe head injury and a skull fracture during the war in Gaza. Doctors feared for the mother’s life and believed the pregnancy could not continue safely.

But Taj survived. She was born on September 28, 2024, against all odds — a true miracle.

Today, Taj lives with her injured mother, her father, and her two brothers in a worn-out tent after their home was destroyed. Instead of a safe nursery, she grows up surrounded by displacement, fear, and poverty.

Taj is suffering from malnutrition and urgently needs milk, diapers, nutritious food, clean water, and basic daily necessities. Her mother is still struggling with the effects of her head injury and needs ongoing medical care as well.

To keep Taj fed and cared for, the family needs at least $50 every day.
