Imagine, for a moment, that you live in a country based on Jewish ideals (we won’t even get into the fact that the U.S. isn’t actually, and never has been, based on Christian ideals). Jews believe that eating pork is wrong. The Torah tells them that God doesn’t want them to do that. So, this country outlaws pork. NO ONE can have any bacon. Not even you, Christian person, because you live in that country. You HAVE to obey laws based on a religion you don’t follow. You cannot have delicious ham, pork chops, pork tenderloin, pork rinds, or FREAKING BACON because another religion makes the laws. Wouldn’t you be kind of miffed?

So imagine how much more miffed you would be if you couldn’t marry who you love because of a religion you didn’t follow. Marriage is, to most people, much more important than bacon.

Don’t tell people how to live if they aren’t hurting you. Why can’t we just shut up, stop shoving our religion down the throats of people who don’t want it, stop making ourselves look like big dumb jerks, and let them be happy?
