aro Berdly means a lot to me. he expects life to revolve so much around romance that he seems to be preemptively looking for romance; assuming someone liking him means they have a crush on him (Noelle) and assuming him liking someone means he has a crush on them (Susie). it reminds me of how i used to go out of my way to look for those things as a kid as a sort of survival instinct; if I spot romance before it spots me maybe I’ll have the upper hand. It’s this sort of overcorrection you make when you don’t actually feel or desire that stuff and you’re so afraid of what that means and so afraid everyone else is feeling it and seeing it expect you, they’re all gonna grow up and you’re gonna be the same. Hoping someone has a crush on you or that you have a crush on someone pretty much just to be able to say you’ve experienced it, ignoring that gut feeling that says you don’t want romance, a feeling you can’t explain but feel so badly it makes you feel sick.
Berdly’s just a lonely kid that desires companionship so badly but the only vessel he knows for just a strong desire is romance.

Arthur Crimsonblood (Shadebringer) (My OC): Bi aroace kinkster. Shadebringer works as a diagetic franchise in Chased Through Dreams, the "original authors" probably will not have made him explicitly aro, but in the Shadowverse (based on the Arkhamverse) he is canonically a romance-repulsed aromantic (the word isn't used)
Echo Redwood (Chased Through Dreams) (My OC): Romance-repulsed aroace. Explicitly canon. Arthur Crimsonblood is their special interest, and the comic will explore being romance-repulsed (and sex-repulsed) in fandom.
The Riddler (Arkhamverse): Romance-repulsed aroallo kinkster. Aromanticism is strongly implied in Arkham Knight, in an audio tape in which he says Batman and Catwoman's romantic attachment disgusts him. Allosexuality is lightly implied in Arkham Origins, in which he has a sexy calendar in his lair. In the mainline DC comics he is bi.
Agnes Crumplebottom (The Sims): Romance-repulsed caedromantic. Caedromanticism/aromanticism is non-canon, however, if Sims are romantic in front of her, she hits them with her handbag, hence I think she should be an icon to the romance-repulsed community.
Sonic (Sonic the Hedgehog): Aroace. Not explicitly stated in canon, however has been stated by outside sources to not date people. Eg: Amy was made to be the Minnie to Sonic's Mickey, however they did not think it would be in Sonic's style to date her, so it is unrequited.
Bel (Bomb Rush Cyberfunk): Aromantic. Not explicitly stated in canon, but Tryce says, "Don't try anything. This girl's married to her phone" which implies aromanticism, and non romance-favourability.
Krobus (Stardew Valley): Unknown if the Shadow People experience romance. He is the character that you can become roommates with, instead of marriage with all the other bachelors.
