soley is deeply relieved when the man is kind to her, the annoyance had passed him. “ takk --- thank you. ” she said. soley rose an eyebrow at him handing her his own cellphone, instead of the establishment’s phone. but she doesn’t question it. it’s a sweet gesture. she begins to tap in the babysitters phone number. she chokes on nothing when he suggests such a thing --- it’s terribly forward. she observed his embarrassment, and decides that he hadn’t meant it in such a suggestive context. “ I should be alright, but that’s very kind. --- might need to get an uber. ” she finished dialing and put the phone to her ear. ringing. ringing. she sighed and held the phone back out to the other. “ no answer. they’re probably asleep on the couch, it’s late and eydis has that babysitter wrapped around her finger. ” she snorted laughter. “ are you leaving soon? mind if I charge my phone a minute ? long enough to get an uber home? ”

                  he’s  trying  his  best  not  to  stare  .  really  ,  ollie  is  working  very  hard  to  keep  his  eyes  on  the  guitar  in  his  hands  and  not  the  giggles  that  are  coming  from  across  the  room  .  it’s  hard  ,  though  ,  when  the  venue  his  band  is  about  to  play  in  is  so  damn  small  (  and  really  ,  by  VENUE  he  really  means  small  dingy  bar  )  and  his  bandmate’s  deep  laugh  keeps  bouncing  off  the  damn  walls  .  his  eyes  flicker  over  to  where  roger  is  standing  with  his  newest  conquest  and  his  tongue  darts  out  to  wet  his  lips  in  lieu  of  a  sigh  .  FOCUS  ,  OLLIE  .  of  course  ,  because  the  universe  is  very  much  not  on  oliver  parrish’s  side  ,  this  is  the  moment  roger  decides  to  walk  out  back  for  a  smoke  ,  and  his  flavor  of  the  week  (  the  one  ollie  just  happens  to  be  in  love  with  )  chooses  to  walk  towards the  stage  .  he  keeps  his  eyes  on  his  strings  as  he  speaks  .    “  hey  .  he  send  you  over  here  to  keep  an  eye  on  me  ?  promise  i  won’t  mess  with  the  keys  this  time  .  ”

he’s cute, soley thinks, laughter rolling easily off her tongue. her life is scattered but bound by promises she’s made to herself and others. her love life is essentially just a tricky, always no strings attached and only full force in the moment. he’s not a man she’d let do much more than buy her a drink and take her home. he’s a little flashy with her --- which she enjoys --- but she’s not some naive little girl, she knows she’s only his shiny new toy for this week. he’s a cute musician that smells like cigarettes and flashes cheeky grins --- he could woo any girl. he excuses himself for a smoke. it’s a deal breaker for soley, she would never dare put a smoker around her daughter. but she’s not looking for ‘ the one ’ right now. ollie, his bandmate, is also cute, and soley is a shameless flirt; coquettish and impish, but not easy --- she likes to lead them on and let them down. she hikes herself up to perch on the edge of the stage beside ollie. she laughed. “ no. ” she admitted. “ you’ve been messing with his keys? ” she taunted. “ that’s rather bold. ” she said. “ I can’t tell if he’s the forgiving type or not --- how did that end for you? ”
