For almost all the years I’ve been in Dekalb I’ve asked why is it that they don’t have such an initiative or a program for teaching English to our immigrant parents that considering how diverse Dekalb is? I always thought that when they initiated the parent centers things like this should have been offered instead of just a list of resources for rental assistance, job training or food programs and also building a better rapport with parents do they can actually volunteer and schools and we can have better participation in PTO’s!
