I hate the idea that angels are scary 'because they look scary' when they're literally cosmic horror before cosmic horror was a thing
Is anti-fanservice a thing? Because if it is I love it
By far the funniest thing in the entire manga to date
Love how this cover contrasts the volume 11 cover.

chainsaw man "fans" upon seeing that their deeply complex and character driven manga has a deeply complex and character driven ending:
Idk why but my brain just made a parallel between this chapter and the ending showing unannounced up to devastate ~that~ part of the fandom
Arguments on how the Fire Nation or the Earth Kingdom should have been turned into democracies after the war are fun and all but sadly, they are also stupid. Who should have brought the idea into these nations?
Before Republic City, there‘s no democracy in this world (tho I like to argue that how it was brought into the story was handled badly). That concept just isn‘t seen anywhere as far as we know. It can‘t be brought to a country if no one knows it is possible. So, of course, they (the Avatar and friends) would be in favor of putting people in those places (Fire Lord and Earth King) they know they can trust to overcome this state of war and propaganda.
Changing a running system is a fragile operation, especially, I would say, in the Fire Nation. I highly doubt that the very patriotic Fire People had accepted the removal of the Fire Lord as a whole, no matter who had done it, even if had come from within the royalty. I can see uproar amogst even those, who do not even know the faces of their prince and princess.
Yeah historically there is good reason that it's incredibly rare for revolution/regime change to target a monarch directly. People believed in monarchs for a significant share of history and the ATLA world doesn't seem to have the enlightenment ideals that emboldened revolutions like the French and American ones (at least not in the same way). What was more doable and more done was going after important leaders beneath the monarch since they're in the same position just one rung down the ladder, and often have more direct roles in managing what goes on.
Specifically with the Earth King he was already largely a political puppet anyways so replacing him would only lead to uncertainty and unrest in the Earth Kingdom.
I can't remember your name, but you were truly one of the best villians in CSM

They had to cut out holes for her horns
So you're telling me Jericho gets destroyed overnight? Yeah right. Their defenses are unbreakable! It would take an act of god to bring them down
Chainsaw Man will forever remain one of the greatest unparalleled manga of all time because Fujimoto will write a chapter that’s a hard-hitting, unambiguous critique of the United States as the worlds worst war-monger and perpetrator of atrocities and then end the chapter with the line “You can call me Li’l D.”
These panels are five pages apart.
Am I the only one who Yoshida kinda reminded me of a generic anime mc. Like he's kind of a loner dark haired boy who's intelligent and has strong abilities that he uses creatively but has little experience in applying them.
I think that's why I didn't like him. He just felt out of place, and I questioned why Fujimoto was including a character like him. In retrospect I think he represents how a typical shonen MC mind set wouldn't 'work' for Denji, especially in this scene.
Denji isn't going to go into that box, especially after what Makima did to him. He might've even developed a bit of an ego around being the one to defeat the control devil, thinking he could always just find his own way out of whatever situation he gets into.
But for part 1 I'm still not sure what he represented. Maybe I'll get it on rereading.
I've been thinking about him more and feel like his attitudes about public safety in part 1 and 2 kinda contradict each other. In part 1 he seems like he's ready to leave whenever he feels like but in part 2 he's literally willing to die for them. It doesn't make sense to me.

Chainsaw Man spoilers ahead!!! I'm going to talk about the ending!!!! Turn back now if you wish not to be spoiled!!!
I've said all along that Denji is a traumatized child who doesn't know how to connect and what he really needed was a parental figure that truly cared about him. When Denji thought he wanted sex, he really wanted connection and for someone to care about him. All along Denji needed a parent to put his needs first. Parents sometimes have to make decisions that sacrifice themselves to put their child's needs first. It helps children to see that they have value in this world.
Pochita acted as a parent for Denji. He removed the dangerous element that was killing him. Pochita gave himself so that Denji could have a better life. Was it a perfect life? No. Of course not. But Denji now has the tools to cope comfortably. Denji now has the potential to grow love naturally and learn from hardship instead of just cutting out the pain with his chainsaws.
Is it hard as a reader to have a story element that undoes everything? sure. But maybe the character arc wasn't just for Denji, but it was also for Pochita and Chainsaw Man. It was all just a dream can suck, but this is more than just "it was all just a dream". Things aren't the way they would be if it was all just a dream. Maybe we'll never really know what Pochita really was. Maybe that's okay. Pochita cared for a poor traumatized teenage boy and learned what that actually looked like in a messy complicated way.
seeing a lot of misinformation across my socials about the new chainsaw man chapter, so i thought i’d bring over a few pivotal points a good friend of mine made while we were chatting earlier:
⛔️ chainsaw man chapter 231 spoilers ahead! ⛔️
“is pochita saying victims will never find happiness, and will always be the product of their abusers?” “pochita is taking away denji’s freedom!” “pochita is saying denji was happier when he was broke, near dying, and getting assaulted!” NOO! that isn’t what’s happening here, and i’m honestly surprised that’s the main takeaway from a fandom notorious for heavily analyzing its characters, and looking into the tiniest details …
pochita is implying that denji isn’t truly happy with his dreams and desires. what are denji’s dreams and desires? well, at the very start, it was to eat good food and live a normal life. makima granted that to him, and afterwards, his new goal was to get a girlfriend, and to have sex. these have been denji’s main goals ever since, and have been especially prevalent in part 2. in the newest chapter, it seems pochita has caught on that sex is just another unfulfilling and disappointing goal for denji - similarly to that one time he got permission to touch power’s chest and thought, “that’s it? this is really what i wanted?”. no doubt pochita knew the same would happen if denji got hurt, and taken advantage of by yoru (again) for the sake of such a trivial dream, like sex.
denji has been using his identity as chainsaw man to attract the love and attention he’s been so desperate for, when it’s been proven time and time again that nobody cares about denji, just the hero: chainsaw man! denji eventually becomes aware of this, and would abuse this power of his to cope with that reality. this cycle of denji being ultimately disappointed upon achieving a goal of his, and coping in unhealthy ways - whether it’s self harm, or abusing the role of hero in any way he can - is so clear to pochita, and pochita, being the loving best friend/pet/guardian he is, wants denji to go after something more meaningful. without chainsaw man. whether pochita went about his idea the right way is debatable, he ultimately did this for denji’s sake - to eventually lead him to a happier life, or to at least search for a more fulfilling goal. a life with pochita has been actively putting denji in harms way, and pochita doesn’t want that for denji anymore either.
in conclusion: pochita would NEVER imply that denji was happier getting groomed, assaulted, hurt, or that he is a mere product of his trauma. he loves denji, and wants the best for him! this send off was very bittersweet, but maybe it’s something denji really needed in the long run.
goodbye, pochita!
