[cis-female. she/her] Welcome to Aurora Bay, [ARI SALAZAR]! I couldnβt help but notice you look an awful lot like [KIANA MADEIRA]. You must be the [THIRTY-SIX] year old [PARAMEDIC]. Word is youβre [PERCEPTIVE] but can also be a bit [GUARDED] and your favorite song is [PEOPLE I DONβT LIKE BY UPSAHL]. I also heard youβll be staying in [OCEAN CREST APARTMENTS]. Iβm sure youβll love it! @aurorabayaesthetic
The above information is as much as Ari likes to share about her history. Though not a wholly unpleasant person, sheβs private. Until sheβs not. When that 'not' will happen is uncertain to most, herself included. If sheβs very hard pressed to βshareβ something, sheβll choose from the following:
She usually drives the rig. She likes not having to do the paperwork.
She bets her co-worker, Noah, what drive-thru lines they can fit the rig through.
She prefers room temperature water.
Sheβs right handed.
She likes food.
Things youβd observe about her in passing:
Sheβs on her phone. A lot.
She always has a water bottle filled with purple liquid.

Even Erica's cold heart was warmed by the interaction, making sure Tony stayed put and didn't try to nudge the little girl over or something. The kid wasn't much bigger than his oversized head, so it wouldn't have been hard for him to push her over, accidentally or otherwise. "Yeah, well Tony is going to get fat if he's not careful." Erica warned, shaking her head. As if he wasn't a unit already. When the father ushered the kid along, Erica glanced over at Ari.
"Not exactly my idea of fun; holding a horse while tourists squeal and take photos." Lips pursed into a tight line. "God no," She actually cracked a smile then. "I've been riding since I was eighteen." Erica would let Ari guess the math from there. "I've spent most of my life working on ranches in Montana." So suffice to say that Tony wasn't exactly akin to the quick-on-their-feet ranch horses she was used to. "But apparently bashing others with sticks is an earned privilege. I'm doing Spear The Ring." A race in which a sword was used to collect rings from the top of poles at top speed. Though it didn't seem quite as fun, Erica didn't mind missing out on wearing a full suit of armour. @arixsalazar
The idea of Tony clomping around with a gut was pretty amusing. He was big already and Erica had a point. Wasn't like he worked worked, least not like the boys on her grandmother's ranch all those years ago. "Eh, let him live his best life. He'll be as plump as a house cat but a little more pleasant," Ari tossed the kid a wink and she giggled again at them both, the little exchange melting whatever bit nerves she had left. Ari could hear her babbling to her father on the way out, saying something about wanting to come back tomorrow and what else Tony could eat to make him fat.
She was listening loosely till her head tilted back to Erica, just in time to catch her thinned lips curling up at the corners, "Montana?" There was a flicker of curiosity there just beyond her eyes. She'd never been, but she could picture something similar to Texas maybe. But much more...picturesque maybe? Mountains and forests? At least mountains. It took a moment before she quelled it, remembering herself as she reached back for the water she'd sat over there earlier,
"Eighteen....I guess ten to twelve years does classify as long..." Ari wasn't positive how old the blond was, but even if she had, her answer would have been about the same as she took a sip from her bottle before continuing, "Privilege is overselling it a bit. Think they needed particular skills in the games like Spear the Ring," She didn't have anything against her fellow jousters, but they definitely fit a similar type. Still, she was looking forward to getting out there and seeing how all their practice would shake out. "If you're ever interested though, I could give you a tutorial. You seem like a quick study,"

A month ago, Erica had no idea what 'LARPing' was. And maybe it would have been better if it had stayed that way. Because now she was holding a Clydesdale by the name of Tony while people came up to pat him and take photos of him. Because apparently if you were volunteering in the jousting and ridden parade, it was also mandatory to spend some time on the greeting station. Apparently, not all that many people knew how to ride horses, and the LARPing community had more saddles than they did butts to put in them. And honestly? Erica missed riding. There were times when she spent twelve hours a day in the saddle. And now she was delivering flowers... Not exactly the same thrill.
A hand came up, trying not to mess up her intricately braided hair that one of the other woman had done for her early that morning. "Ah yep, his name is Tony." She confirmed at the question, nodding.
"Tony's got a bit of a sweet tooth," Ari smirked, crouching down next to the little girl standing wide eyed, so small in the presence of the horse. Her fingers unfurled, revealing a sugar cube to the little one. She'd been hesitant to get close, which given that size difference Ari could understand. So she thought maybe she might grease the wheels a little bit. After a little direction, the child offered it up and Tony, of course, scooped it right up, producing a giggle from the child. It was short and sweet, a little encounter that left Ari smiling to the point they almost forgot how fucking sweltering it was in full armor.
As the girl and her parents left, there was a little lull in the line, giving Ari space to post up on a bail of aesthetically placed hay. "You look like you're loving this," she said, doing nothing to hide the smirk still lining her features, "Tony's loving you at least. He's usually more...ornery with new riders-- so I take it you're not that new. How long have you been riding?" She'd been with the LARPing crew for a bit now and despite being one of the few that could ride and handle a horse, she hadn't gotten to talk to Erica much since prep for the fair started.

"Oh come on, Benny, please?" Ari's bottom lip jutted out just enough to form a pout as she stood in the lobby just within a few steps of the elevator. She'd lured Ben out here with the promise of lunch and a free ride. Though said ride came in the form a racer red bike with a rear carrier. "See, it's even got a little seat! It's for me, of course, after you crush the whole learning to ride thing, but it's cute. Don't you think?" She held her hands out, showing it a lot like Vanna White might.

"You've gotta be kidding me," The words left Ari's lips faster than she could stop them. Though she wasn't sure she would have if she could as an all too familiar face joined her in the backroom of the comic shop. "Please tell me you're lost and not leading this-- and I quote 'rag tag group of greenhorns'," It was possible Quincy didn't know she and Noah worked together. Aurora Bay was small, but Ari made it a point not to mix work with...well anything. Or anything with anything. She liked having her world divided into neat little sections. On the same plate, never touching. But Ari could still see the smirk on Quincy's lips when he'd pitched it to her and that was enough to make her think this was a set up from the start. "Did you know? Did he tell you I was taking over?"

Shifting her weight, Ari felt the heft of the hilt in her grip, reacquainting herself with it. It'd been a long time. A really long time. But even as she started the most basic flourish and the fading light of the sun hit the blade, it felt like none had passed at all. "Are you dressing?" Short. Because she assumed Casey would know what she meant as she focused on her breathing rather than too many words, "If not, you should. It'll be a good time,"
Aurora Bay events typically were in her experience. Not that she really went all out at them. It gave her an excuse to be around people and soak in that buzz atmosphere without having to integrate into it too much. No exhausting amounts of small talk because everyone was swept away with the commotion and she could bounce in and out and around fairly unnoticed. Just a little moth in a sea of butterflies. This one would be a little different, given she might have a chance to perform, but all in all, she expected to go about it the same. Dragging Casey out here for company had been impulsive though, so, maybe she'd prove herself wrong.
Ari hummed, twisting and letting the blade fall, twirling it before switching hands. "One of your wow characters? Maybe?"

"Julia," Ari's voice was even despite the raise of her eyebrow, "...are you sleeping with your eyes open?" It was a fair question. She knew the hours people kept in this hospital, in any hospital really, were ridiculous. She felt a familiar burn in her own eyes, though she was long past the struggle to rub or fight to keep them open. She just sort of functioned now, as if she didn't have the mechanism to shut them at all.
She withdrew her boot clad heels from the seat of the plastic chair next to her and leaned an elbow on the hospital cafeteria table, a ghost of a smirk playing on her lips as she raised a finger in front of her friend's eyes, "Mandatory visual check. If you fail, I get your tray," And in no way could Sato blame her. It was mashed potato day after all. "Think you can keep up?"

location: botanical gardens
Maybe it was due to being stuck inside with work that made Jason a bit stir crazy that caused him to end up exploring around a bit. It's how he ended up at the botanical gardens, his eyes taking in the sights around him. He loved all of it and knew that this was the perfect chance to record a vlog for his fans to enjoy. He couldn't miss this chance.
Taking out his camera, he lined himself in the camera lens before he pressed record. Giving his usual intro, he panned the camera to take in the different plants and show of the fountain that had water that looked so crystal clear. "Seems I found the perfect place to take a breather." He spoke to the camera as he recorded more of the view he got to enjoy.
He almost dropped the camera instantly as he noticed someone in the view of his lens. He cut the recording before finding himself starting to apologize. "I'm sorry, don't know how I didn't notice you." He felt like his words were coming out before his brain could stop him. "Don't think you'd wanna be recorded and appear in someone's random vlog." A nervous chuckle let his lips as he found himself rubbing at the back of his neck.
"I'm guessing it was the monologue," Ari didn't bother to look up from her shot, a beautiful cluster of flowers not far from the fountain, as she continued to speak, "You would be right, though. Not partial to it," A few clicks followed, a shutter fluttering to capture the sight. She didn't frequent the botanical gardens often for this exact reason. It was too easy to stumble into people and the last thing she wanted on her day off was awkward conversation. Still. The guy was apologetic and that was more than could be said about most. She lowered her camera, letting it hang from the strap around her neck as she sat back on her haunches, "Was it a good at least?" Her hand extended, gesturing with the universal 'let me see' motion.
Nira: You + Me = Pride Adventures?
Nira: I know, I never leave my little gaming dungeon, but I thought we could make a photography/videography social media day of it.
Ari: You had me at Pride Adventures and lost me at social media day.
Ari: Unless you mean, I'm manning the camera and you are social'ing
Ari: In that case I could be convinced
