Kids And Teens Challenge Either/Or Genders
If same-sex marriage was yesterdayâs battle to redefine gender roles and privileges, and transgender rights is todayâs fight, American society may now be on the cusp of the most transformational shift yet â the end of categorizing people as either male or female.
Some people who are redefining gender identify as both male and female; others as neither male nor female, or as sometimes male and sometimes female. âTheyâ is often the pronoun of choice. These individuals may use any number of terms to describe their gender identity: genderqueer, gender-fluid, gender-creative, gender-expansive. While definitions fluctuate, ânonbinary genderâ has emerged as an umbrella description.
âI think weâre seeing a new gender revolution,â says clinical psychologist Diane Ehrensaft. âItâs erased boxes and created gender infinity instead.â
isnât life complicated enough? do we really need this?
Alay no more...
So this tumblr was previously called keluhperut. Because, of course, I have such a whiny stomach that keeping on asking more foods. But I dont want that to be my identity anymore, so I changed this tumblrâs title to just my name. I want to be honest to myself, and to the world. I might be still a bit alay. But thatâs okay, because at least Iâm honest.

I just got back to my dorm room after taking winter break in my hometown, and I was surprised by this package containing a book called Gratitude by Oliver Sacks. I still don't know who's the sender. It said that it was paid in Japanese Yen, but I can't recall any close friend from Japan. Weird. Haha. But to whomever you are, the sender, my best friend, I am deeply thankful for this book, because it looks like something that I really need right now. I wish you well, loved, and happy life, forever and ever. đ #surprise #secret #gratitude #oliversacks #mysterioussender #thanksalot #kisses #hugs
BIOSTRUGGLE!
I met an old friend today. Heâs offering a path. A rough and long path. But the journey is worth fighting for.
Heâs far older than me. He has got married and nurtured two beautiful daughters and a newborn son. We met accidentally five years ago when I was doing my intern in the Indonesian NCC, we clicked eversince and are always delighted to see each other.
With many other colleagues, we are trying to bring justice for our profession, that has not even existed yet in my country. Even in the healthcare service, where everyoneâs aware that we are fighting to save life (they better be f*#king aware of this), sometimes ego pass our way and lead us somewhere unjust. Patientsâ lifes can be considered as nothing but numbers, and a representative of power. And science is being contested like property, but the scientists are left behind.
I say, this is our fault! The scientistsâ fault!
This is not the time to whine and complain anymore! This is time to rise and fight back! Get your ass up, show them what we can do, and be responsible for whatever we do! Act! Take part! Contribute! Take a risk! Fight!
This will not be a path of luxury or indulgent, but it will be surely a fun and lively fight of our lifetime.
Be strong! like the kinesin that brings that huge vesicle, and keep moving forward!
I think people are often quite unaware of their inner selves, their other selves, their imaginative selves, the selves that arenât on show in the world. Itâs something you grow out of from childhood onwards, losing possession of yourself, really. I think literature is one of the best ways back into that. You are hypnotized as soon as you get into a book that particularly works for you, whether itâs fiction or a poem. You find that your defenses drop, and as soon as that happens, an imaginative reality can take over because you are no longer censoring your own perceptions, your own awareness of the world.

A biology student turned images of deadly viruses into art
Eleanor Lutz, a PhD student in biology at the University of Washington by day and graphic artist by night, was inspired to pay tribute to viruses when she realized how âsurprisingly symmetricalâ they are. âI love them because they remind me of a biological version of snowflakes,â she writes.
Each graphic features the structure of the unique viral capsid, which is the protein shell that encloses a virusâs genetic material.
Watching them spin, itâs easy to forget these arenât Christmas tree ornaments â or, as Lutz calls them, âsnowflakesâ â but instead human killers.

My kind of hero: Prof. Doddy Tisna Amidjaja
(Berasa masih muda x_x) Tapi sampai sekarang, menurut saya, dia masih pahlawan sekaligus tokoh Biologi paling cool se-Indonesia Raya: Bapak Prof. Dr. Doddy Achiat Tisna Amidjaja.
Kenapa? Se-cool apa sih memang beliau ini?
Banyak alasannya.
Pertama! Beliau ini tokoh Indonesia yang menekuni salah satu ilmu bidang Biologi favorit saya: Embriologi! Dengan disertasi bertajuk "Wachstumsbeeinflussung durch Acetylcholine, Histamin, Alloxan, Nadisan, Aristamid, Nicotinsäuremid, und p-Aminobenzosäure beim Huhnembryo" Gimana? Ribet kan kayaknya? Haha. Kurang lebih artinya âProfil Faktor Tumbuh Senyawa Asetilkolin, Histamin, Aloksan, Nadisan, Aristamid, Nikotinamida, dan p-Benzamida pada Embrio Ayam.â Udah Bahasa Indonesia aja kayaknya masih ribet yaa. Haha.
Kenapa yaa pakai embrio ayam?
I bet he is like one of those teachers that we love so much that make us cry because we have to leave the university. OMG, we love you, Pak Doddy!
Yaa tapi pasti orang kayak gitu kan tetep ada kurangnya. Misalnya mukanya jelek atau ga sehat, gitu. Ya kan? WRONG!!
Alasan ke empat ribu tiga ratus sembilan puluh tujuh! Selain ribuan alasan-alasan lainnya, beliau juga pernah ikut berjuang sebagai Tentara Pelajar and stay classy and handsome until the very end of his day in this world.
Look how handsome he was. I mean, come on, Prof! You start to make me feel bad about myself. Haha!
The Rock approved! Nyahaha
To me, maybe he is like who Carl Sagan is to Neil Degrasse Tyson. Neil Tyson once said about Carl Sagan, âI already knew that I want to become a scientist, but I learn from him what kind of person that I want to become.â
I donât mean to say that I am equal to Neil, I mean maybe we are equally huge but he is like really really smart and really really cool. Yeah, you get the concept, right? Haha. But I think Prof. Doddy is still equal to Carl Sagan and I think he is the hero of the day.
Aamiiin.
Selamat Hari Pahlawan, semua! :D
But listen to me. For one moment quit being so sad. Hear blessings dropping their blossoms all around you.

Rindu
After the morning prayer, we came to the sanctuary that have lost its queen just recently. Beleaguered after the tradition, we always pay a visit to the Godmother afterward, our beloved grandmother.
The feeling seems so ordinary. Not much have been done. The feeling of entering a stress-free zone, a space of refugee, a place for getting kindly soothed. The breeze that came out of the chamber brought some kind of familiar serenity. But something is surely missing. A big portion of my soul seems to be lost as I observed the throne that has been vacant for months.
She used to sit there, at the corner of the sofa in front of the TV, waiting for every visit of her beloved heirs, in a sleeping gown for simple visits, or in a matched turquoise blouse and skirt if there was something to celebrate upon the day. More frequently in the turquoise because we celebrate all kind of things. Every single kin who pay a visit would come to her first before anything else, kiss her hand, and then her cheeks. Then a sweet scent of jasmine will long with you ever after. A scent that I surely missed nowadays.
She always greet with such festivity, and somehow managed to be surprised of every visits even if we come to her the second time in the same day. Oh, how she called with endearments to every one of us. With a smile spread widely on her face, she would greet me "eeeeh, Si Gendut! Udah lama ga kesini", eventhough we've only been away for just a day, or even a couple hours, it doesn't matter. With her cheer so loud, trying to overcome the TV sounds that she set even louder to beat her weakening ear. And then we would chat all day, sharing love and laughter.
But yesterday, there was no greetings, no kisses, no matched blouse, no jasmine scent, no loud murmuring news program, just nothing, solitude. However, because she left too much memories, it felt like she was still around. She might be somewhere else right now, embraced by the Most Loving, but her endless affection was there with us, witnessing our conversations, and echoing love as usual.
Oh Dear God, Most Merciful, Most Kind, please tell her that we missed her, and please take care of her and please let us rejoin once more in Your Jannah within Your loving embrace, when the time to come home has arrived. Aamiin.
We miss you, Nini.
wait for us, it wonât take long. :*
Oh, televisi..
Pembawa Acara : Katanya kamu baru putus kan sama dia? Kok terus kamu jadi dituntut?
Apalagi buat anak-anak. Aamiin.
