New saddle (for me at least lmao) has finally been acquired - took me an 8hr long trip to get a $650 saddle but at least it's in excellent condition & fits him well enough to use whilst we wait for our saddle fitter to come out next month to fit it properly.

Perseverance was a contender as he truly has persevered throughout life; whether that's healing after being caught in a bushfire as a yearling, persevering through his racing career despite genuinely not wanting to be a racehorse, etc - and it's really wanted to memorialise that.

The other name was Elpiphoros, which is the full etymological spelling of the Greek word Elpidophoros essentially meaning "Bearer of Hope" & also one of the titles you can get during the Endwalker expansion of Final Fantasy XIV Online - an expansion & game that sits incredibly close to my heart, as it was the main thing to get me through the grief of losing my mum & the quote unquote 'Depression Expansion' also explores the themes of loss, grief, and pursuing happiness & that even if the world may seem or feel like it's ending - there will ever be hope & another dawn.

Suffice to say, Percy is my light in the darkness of my depression, hope for tomorrow's dawn and overall reason for life (although that may seem selfish on my end) - so it was only natural i gravitated more towards the name that connects me to my mum, & the main reason why im not in a much worse mental state ie depression from losing my mum.

Tldr: i finally thought up a competition name for the orange beastie & he's officially registered as "Elpiphoros" on his OTTWA passport 🥰 cause fuck tracey & her overcontrolling need to not only just have *her* prefix in front of my horse's comp name but also to decide on what he got named cause he was being trained to race & then being supposedly 'retrained' by her 🙄😤

Percy eating his dinner on the first day/night he'll be at our new agistment 🥰 he's enjoying having so much space to gallop around in but is already settling in great - first up will be a vet work-up to ensure he's actually all good, and then we'll be doing a shit ton of groundwork that we werent allowed to do at the old place cause it was either ride or lunge in the pessoa and nothing else 🙄😤

The new agistment is literally 40 acres of pure grassed and country bliss where there will be no drama cause most of the agisters are FIFO or come at odd hours, and Percy & I will finally be able to do as we please and not what I've been told we have to do (ie he has nice movement, and is overly pretty therefore we must do dressage and then eventing & that I should be greatful for being allowed to buy such a nice horse, despite the fact that all i want to do is pleasure/trail riding, roßfechten & mounted archery 🙄)

The constant verbal & emotional abuse that i was subjected to will also finally be over, and percy will actually be taken care of at this place instead of being left in the paddock with no water (unless ive been out to fill it) & cuts on his legs that haven't been tended to or notifying me that he's got said cuts that need to be tended to (unless I was out the day they happened or just after 🙄) - hell the amount of times ive been out there and none of the horses had any water, or the yards hadn't been done in several days because this old bitch relies too much on her own agisters to do the upkeep that they're paying her rather handsomely for 😤
