New saddle (for me at least lmao) has finally been acquired - took me an 8hr long trip to get a $650 saddle but at least it's in excellent condition & fits him well enough to use whilst we wait for our saddle fitter to come out next month to fit it properly.
It's not the exact model of the bates isabel that i was wanting, it's a bit older but it's super comfy to ride in & puts me in a nice position so that's a silver lining at least
Caught Percy having a nice lil nap in the sun when I got to the yard this morning 🥰 then proceeded to melt my heart by trotting over to me after I called out to him 🥺😭💕 he's genuinely the greatest thing to exist in my life since sliced bread 🥰

Welp, after what is probably a fairly foolish idea (and something my bestie is certainly going to hate) ive decided to forgo getting Percy vet-checked before purchase, ive decided to bite the bullet and just get him 😅 he's an ex-racehorse and ik for a fact he would not pass a vet check with full flying colours plus ive been calling him mine for the last month and a bit and paying for him for everything during that time, so ive let my coach know and paid the rest of what she wanted for him (which is technically just a full ceiling repair worth $800 + a carton of beer cause mates rates & having a fair few friends in the trades haha).
So it's official - i own a pony again 🥰
Peep his new bridle which i think makes him look very handsome 😌 although his other nosebandless one also makes him look super handsome as well & we finally got his new bit in the mail as well (not pictured above) - a 6' neue schule turtle top cause he got a large head & mouth 😂😭 you'd think shops in aus would have something 6' with either a loose ring or double joints but noooo - 5.5' is apparently the only large size they seem to do in the more cheaper bits 😒 had to enlist the help of a UK retailer cause all of the aus bit retailers i checked were fully out of stock 😭
Welp, after a few weeks of wringing my hands over making the decision of if I want an ottb or not, ive finally made it. Percy is officially mine 🥰 have to say, actually having to make the decision after deliberating on what type & breed of horse ive wanted to pursue various disciplines, it's rather jarring actually fully making & committing to it 😂 so without further ado, please welcome my darling orange dodo, also known as Percy to the horseblr circle

My beloved lil orange beastie has been living the last 6+ months chilling in the paddock & playing uncle to my friend's yearling colt & teaching the little bay pest to knock down fencing and where to find the best pick of grass in the racehorse paddock
But come the end of the year, if he still hasnt been brought back into race-work, im 100% going to put an offer on him 😌 so fingers crossed, come the new year I may be 1x orange ex-race pony up 🥰 now I just have to figure out if I should bother going the dressage route first or chuck him in a stock saddle instead until we can figure out what he'd like to do best 😂

The amount of love I have for this little orange mud creature is kind of ridiculous 😭😂 im actually crossing all of my fingers and toes, that he retires soon before he goes to trial - he'd look so much better in a dressage arena than on the track 😂
The fave bay 4yro on the yard went for his latest race trial on Monday and did well up until the last leg where he started flagging pretty hard and came 5th out of 6. Not the greatest, but so far his best trial to date - we're all kind of hoping he fails and we can make him into a fun little dressage and jumping pony cause he's honestly such a nice type
