Days on GAZZER

今回は前回のリバーシブルの裏面です。 裏面という限り表面もあるということで それでは表面が主で裏面が従という関係になるのでしょうか。 実は私たちは主従があるリバーシブルは想定していないのです。 そうした区別がなければフォーマルや私服などの区別もなくなって 公的や私的という立場も気にしなくても良くなりますから。 それは確かに自由につながることではあるけれど 社会の中ではそれが果たして良いことにつながるのか。 本当はメビウスの帯のように 両者が一体となってつながっているのならいいのですが。 私たちはそうした自由をこのリバーシブルにイメージしているのです。

A reversible design akin to a Möbius strip…

This image here shows the reverse side of KANT-Gilet featured last month. Is the relationship such that the front side is primary and the back side is secondary? Does this mean the front is the primary side and the back is secondary? Actually, we do not envision a "reversible" dynamic that involves a master-servant relationship. That way, you won't have to worry about whether the context is public or private. While that certainly implies freedom, one might wonder if it truly leads to a positive outcome in society. Ideally, it should be like a Möbius strip, where both sides are connected and integrated. That is the kind of freedom we envision for this reversible design.

今回はベスト（ジレともチョッキとも言う）。 主に袖のない上着のことです。 このアイテムはいつも主役扱いはされませんが 考えてみれば思いのほか重要な存在感があります。 たとえばジャケットの下に着ると服装全体が重厚感が醸し出されたり 少しの肌寒さを緩和させてくれたりします。 この存在感は現在の危うい世界情勢の対立を調停する中立国のようで 案外わがままな主役級の大国よりその重要性は高いかもしれません。 私たちの今回のデザインはそうした想いを重ねて試みました。 ベスト・イズ・ベスト！が今の最高の感覚。

Vest is Best!

This time, we are focusing on the vest (also known as a gilet or waistcoat)—a sleeveless upper garment. While it may not always take center stage, the vest actually holds a surprisingly significant presence. For instance, wearing one under a jacket adds a sense of gravitas to an outfit while also taking the edge off a slight chill. This presence is akin to a neutral nation mediating conflicts in today’s precarious global landscape; its importance might well surpass that of the self-centered "superpowers" that usually dominate the spotlight. We poured these sentiments into the creation of our latest design. "Vest is Best!"—We think that is the ultimate vibe right now.

今回もジョーゼットによるワンピース。 （なおワンピースとは和製英語らしく正しくはジョーゼットによるドレス） このドレスはジョーゼットの下には過剰な色彩の布で二重仕立てになっています。 下地の過剰な色彩が上からのジョーゼットで中和されているというデザインです。 もちろんそのジョーゼットにはハンドメイドの創作加工が施されていて、心地の良い世界が紡ぎ出されています。 思えば今の世界は自分のことしか考えない国家や思想が充満していて私たちの世界はやるせないような日常で埋め尽くされています。 そんな世界こそ私たちのこのジョーゼットで覆い尽くしたいもの。 そうすれば過剰な自己主義や暴力が少しは中和が果たされるかも知れません。 現にこのドレスはなんとリラックスしていて平和感が充満しているとは思いませんか。

Neutralization through Georgette… This time, another one -piece dress made of georgette. (Incidentally, "one-piece dress" is a Japanese-made English term; the correct term is "dress made of georgette.") This dress is double-layered, with a fabric of excessive color underneath the georgette. This design is such that the excessive color of the base layer is neutralized by the georgette on top. Of course, the georgette itself has been handcrafted, creating a comfortable and inviting world. When you think about it, the world today is filled with nations and ideologies that only think of themselves, and our world is filled with a depressing daily life. It is precisely such a world that we want to cover with our georgette. Perhaps this would neutralize some of the excessive self-centeredness and violence. Indeed, don't you think this dress is incredibly relaxing and full of peace?

Our positive vision,"KASUMISM". The warm, vibrant handcrafted embroidery that stands out from its translucent texture is an emblem of the peace we yearn for.

今回は洗い晒しの強状な帆布による 久方ぶりのフォンタナジャケット。 何度も鍛錬を乗り越えてきたような帆布は もうそれだけで信頼の塊に見えます。 こうした帆布を身に纏うとすれば 我が身の内面がそれに拮抗しているかが 問われているような気がしてくるものです。 そうした力を衣服が持ちえるとしたら ファッションデザインの世界も それほど悪いものではありません。

女性にとって大型のトートバックは案外無骨なものになりがちです。 そこで軽やかで、それでいて安易な整合性だけで成り立っていないものを考えてみました。 それにもうすぐ春が来るのですから、どこかでそのことを意識しながらも、 そして単なる明るさだけに終始しないように心がけて… Gazzer精神を注入しました。

A new tote bag idea… Large tote bags tend to look surprisingly clunky for women. So we thought of something light and airy, yet not just a simple design. And with spring just around the corner, we kept that in mind, but also tried to avoid being just bright and cheerful… We infused it with the Gazzer spirit.

この地はもともと鉄塔だけが立っていた丘に 後から住宅が進出してきたものでしょうが、 その取り合わせの違和感が奇妙に刺激的です。 そうした刺激的雰囲気はファッションの世界にも必要かも知れず、 これを違和感と考えるか、刺激要素と考えるかは評価の二分するところ。 Gazzerはもちろん活性化の要素としてこうした違和感を積極的に捉えていきたいのです。 ということで今回はトートバッグ。 アイテムの性格上それほど過激なデザインにはなりませんが、 かといって素直なデザインでもないつもり。 持ち手のベルトのトップにはマグネットなども仕込んで、 肩からのベルトの離脱の改善にも心配りがなされています。 いかがでしょう？

今は暦の上では秋のはずなのに、夏の気配は去りやらず これならすぐにも冬の気候がやってきてしまいそう。 日本は四季の変化が感動的なのに、まるで夏と冬だけの 単調な季節感の国になってしまうのでしょうか。 YESとNOだけの二元論でできているような、 分断だけが目立つどこかの国のお話みたい。 微細な変化が際立つ様な、そんな繊細な国でありたいと思うのに 異常気象の脅威は私たちの内側も蝕んでいきます。 せめてGAZZERのファッションは微細な感性のヴァリエーションを 形にしたものでありたいのです。

I dislike forced unity. The old space shuttles clinging to large jets look unsightly, probably because the combination looked like it was forcefully attached and there was no sense of unity. We aimed for a backpack that didn't have that sense of separation. We focused on unity as the core of the design. So our backpack… What? You say it looks like the old space shuttle? No, no, take a closer look. The lack of forced unity is precisely the free-flowing design we aim for.

And best of all, it's nice that there's no intimidating presence that would distort the wild nature. Such powerful results give us more energy than anything.

考えてみればリュックとは単なる収納のための袋です。 その袋を私たちなりのオリジナルなものに仕立てようとすると 私たちが培ってきた独自の技法と感性を充全に駆使して制作するしかありません。 そして出来上がったのがこのリュックです。 その名前は"Umu rucksack"。 日本では小説の中で登場人物が思案げに頷いて発する感嘆詞に「うむ・・・」というのがあります。 そのイメージから名づけました。 このリュックは思案げに頷いて"Umu・・・"と言っているようです。 それでもやはりこのリュックは単なる袋でしかないのも事実なのですが。

If we were to turn that sack into something original, we had no choice but to make full use of the unique techniques and sensibilities we have cultivated. And this rucksack is the result. Its name is "Umu rucksack." In Japanese novels, there is an exclamation in which a character nods thoughtfully and utters, "Umu…". We named it after that image. This rucksack seems to nod thoughtfully and say "Umu…". But even so, the fact remains that this rucksack is just a sack.

ブリコラージュとは間にあわせの日常品を使って新しい機能具を作り出すこと。 太古の昔、人の衣服や道具はこの方法で作り出されてきたことを想うと、 現在にその方法を生かせば自由な衣服の出現が期待できる、かも。 まずはリサイクル布片を絵画を描くように繋ぎ合わせて新たな布にして、 それを素材に自由に衣服にしていくと、 そこにあるのは既存の拘束感からの自由な空気感。 だからこのコンセプトの制作方を一つのシリーズにすることにした。 シリーズ名はそのものずばり「ブリコ」。 そしてこの作品名は「ブリコのヒカリ」。

The Bricolage Spirit Bricolage is the process of creating new functional tools using makeshift everyday items. When you think about how people's clothes and tools were made this way in ancient times, if we use this method in the present, we can expect the emergence of free clothing. First, we connect recycled pieces of fabric like paintings to create new fabric, and then we use this material to freely create clothing, and there is an air of freedom from existing constraints. So we decided to make a this series based on these concept. The this series name is "Brico." And the title of this work is "Hikari of Brico".
