lips  purse  into  a  thin  line.  he  wasn't  exactly  the  biggest  fan  of  the  hospital's  coffee,  and  he's  made  that  clear  a  few  times.  “  a  red  bull  would  be  perfect,  ”  he  settles  on  saying.  he  wasn't  big  on  energy  drinks  either,  but  he  really  needed  the  boost  to  get  through  the  day.  “  i  really  shouldn't  have  done  that  overtime  yesterday.  ”

⋆.°    ᝰ.ᐟ     she’ll say it time and time again,  she does not miss her residency days.  “  with a job like ours,  it’s difficult to avoid the overtime.  are you caught up with your charting  ?  ”  astrid asks,  reaching over to grab a can of redbull to hand over to the resident.  “  or is that just a lost cause  ?  ” 

tattoos weren't something he thought he would get. himself years ago. now, here he is with quite a few tattoos and a job a the tattoo place that he had been hoping he would've gotten for quite sometime now.  he had to stop himself from continuing to get more.. even if he wanted to continue on with a sleeve. plenty of ideas.. so little time. " oh, yeah, no problem ! i try to be as flexible as possible with things. can't always promise i have appointments available when they're needed but i can always end up figuring something out along the way. " he knew the disappointment of a cancellation when it came to plans you would've had all set up to go. " i can show you a few different ideas i've got if you're looking for some sort of inspiration. unless you got a specific idea in mind and you want to see a few options related to it ? " the options would vary, especially depending on what the client would want. “ thought you said you weren't even here for the tattoos. “ he'd playfully joke while reaching for the tattoo design book that was nearby the front desk to hand over. ” feel free to let me know your thoughts or if you have any suggestions because i could also always draw something up. ”

⋆.°    ᝰ.ᐟ     “  technically speaking,  i wasn’t here for the tattoos.  but since i’m here,  i figured why not  ?  ”  she’ll shoot back,  the corners of her lips curling up into a small grin to show that she’s joking.  and astrid isn’t opposed to the idea of getting a tattoo.  much of her adult life was spent at a job where it’s frowned upon.  but hey,  she made it through residency so she could definitely get away with it.  even if the tattoo itself couldn’t be visible while she’s on shift.  so the idea of getting her first ever tattoo is growing more and more favorable.  and the tattoo artist standing in front of her seems like he’s got a good head on his shoulders and would be willing to work with her.  “  honestly,  i don’t have anything in mind so i guess you could say i’m looking for inspiration.  is there a specific style you specialize in  ?  ” 

"you may have fully convinced me to go out during times like this more, love..." morgan gives her a teasing smile, before taking a sip of her wine. it was something different for the club owner to do, a simple, usual thing for most people, yet out of her routine. but she just couldn't turn down maxine's offer. "i've always wanted to try skating, it shares similar grace with dancing, and i still do it to this day, just... in the comfort of my own space. i haven't really performed in front of an audience in forever." she explains. "well, i don't know if you've heard, but hurricane shot fridays are happening at tipsy shores right now. it was an idea brought up to me by my bartender holly, and i couldn't turn it down..."

⋆.°    ᝰ.ᐟ     “  i think you should.  a little sunlight never hurt anyone.  well unless you decide to forgo sunscreen which would be terrible.  ”  maxine dramatically shudders at the thought.  while there’s nothing wrong with being a night owl,  she is very much a morning person.  perhaps it’s years of getting up early that’ve conditioned her to become one.  “  it’s never too late to try it  !  the ice rink does offer adult ice skating lessons if that’s something that interests you,  ”  she offers.  “  i did hear about hurricane shot fridays and i’m not gonna lie,  that terrifies me,  morgan.  it sounds like a hangover waiting to happen.  i can’t bounce back like i used to.  ”

"hmm, i don't think so, astrid, you underestimate tipsy shores' patrons. they would love the astrid if i ever put it on the menu." morgan would admit that astrid is somebody that she's struggled to read, perhaps it was due to how different their daily lives are, but that wasn't enough to turn her away from the other. "i was going to suggest going out, but... thinking about it now... staying in may be a viable option." the club owner pulls away and takes astrid by her hand, and leads them to the couch. "you're not the only one who is good with their hands... i can give you a massage?"

⋆.°    ᝰ.ᐟ     “  my impression of the tipsy shores’ patrons is that they like to have a good time.  the drink of choice doesn’t matter too much.  so i don’t know if something like the astrid would be something they would enjoy.  as a way to get drunk,  certainly.  but for what the drink is,  i doubt it.  ”  perhaps astrid is coming off a bit pretentious but does it mean she’s wrong  ?  and despite how she acts,  it still surprises her that morgan would still want to spend time with her.  features soften as she lets the other woman lead them towards the couch.  “  if that’s what you want to do then i don’t mind.  just don’t be surprised by how tense i am.  ”

with her eyebrows knitted in concentration,  zakia observes the garment in front of her.   it is a beautiful silk piece with lace at the cleavage,  almost perfect to pair with that pencil skirt she has in her closet at home,  which she hasn’t had the chance to wear for the first time yet.   there’s something that doesn’t convince her,  though,  so she turns to maxine and asks,   “   what is it ?   there’s something about this that just …  i don’t know,  there’s something,  i just can’t put my finger on it,   ”   she’s slightly troubled,  she hates when she can’t figure things out,  and the frustration is palpable in her voice.   “   maybe i should try it on.   should i try it on ?   ”

⋆.°    ᝰ.ᐟ     maxine stops next to zakia,  following the other woman’s line of sight.  she folds her arms around her chest,  lips twisting up in thought.  it is a beautiful piece,  there’s no doubt about it.  she scrutinizes the article of clothing.  the figure skater snaps her fingers in realization.  “  it’s the color of the lace.  the white is too bright.  it needs to be a cream but it’s standing out a little too much,  and not in an intentional way.  but,  it could be one of those cases where it’s easy to dismiss on the hanger so i think you should give it a try.  then you’ll truly know and it won’t just nag at you.  ”

"wait, did you just say you've never seen 'when death becomes her'?" nat couldn't believe her ears, it was a classic. honestly, she couldn't blame the other. not everyone was as crazy about movies as she was, sometimes she had to remind herself. "honestly, it's a classic! i own a dvd copy, i'll so let you borrow it. it's a must watch!" she mused, trying to hide just how much she truly loved this movie and the message behind it. truthfully, she was hoping her ears were deciving her.

⋆.°    ᝰ.ᐟ     “  can’t say that i have,  but  ––  !  ”  nalini pauses.  “  would it make you feel better if i said it’s next on my watch list  ?  ”  and by watch,  she definitely means have it on in the background while she multitasks.  it still counts  !  she just might have to watch it a couple times.  “  i know it’s a cult classic,  but what makes it so great  ?  and i genuinely mean that in a curious way,  not in a   ‘  this movie is so overhyped  ’  kind of way.  ”

⋆.°    ᝰ.ᐟ     “  oh that one was absolutely STUNNING.  i could see you rockin’ it.  ”  avery nods in agreement.  there were a couple pieces she could see herself possibly wearing.  but she was never really the type to be daring with her fashion choices,  always preferring to stick to something a little more neutral but still put together with an accent piece or two.  “  you flatter me so,  marcel.  that halter mauve dress is also quite beautiful.  but i am partial to the emerald backless gown.  but maybe it’s too much for somewhere like electric nights.  ”

“oh — no, i’m not on the clock.” lola began, pausing to glance down at her shirt. sure enough, she’d forgotten to change out of her sunset tacos t-shirt before starting on the watermelon margarita resting on the bar counter in front of her. “i can see where that might’ve been confusing…” she admitted with a laugh, more at herself than anything. “did you need something, or were you about to yell at me for drinking on the job? i can grab natalie, but only for the first thing. if it’s the second, natalie doesn’t exist.”

⋆.°    ᝰ.ᐟ     “  i was about to say that’s a fun way to be on the clock,  ”  nalini jests.  “  you won’t get any judgment from me.  i’ve had bartender friends who’ve been hammered because regulars kept buying them drinks.  ”  she slides into the vacant seat next to lola.  “  honestly,  i’m just here for the hibiscus margarita.  you think natalie who may or may not exist be able to help with that  ?  ”

⋆.°    ᝰ.ᐟ    “  i figured it’s a beautiful day out.  and a picnic with just sandwiches and a couple side dishes just wouldn’t suffice.  ”  she retrieves the last of the food from her picnic basket.  “  oh alistair,  there’s no need to apologize.  you are right though.  sometimes the safest choices aren’t always the best.  i’ll agree with you on that.  ”  and to maxine,  the safest choice she could’ve made after she’d won gold was to not retire from the sport she spent all her life training for.  “  safety when it comes to food is all subjective anyway.  i personally went for something that would be universally loved.  besides,  i have a reputation to keep up as a foodie.  can’t go around making suggestions that aren’t good.  ”  she pops open the bottle of wine and pours out two glasses.  “  i like a little bit of a challenge at least.  safe can get  …  boring.  and a boring life is not one i’d like to live.  ”

spencer  is,  admittedly,  running  on  very  limited  sleep.  his  body  may  be  awake  but  his  mind  might  as  well  be  elsewhere,  perhaps  even  in  a  dream  state.  he's  barely  paying  attention  to  what  the  other  is  saying,  his  gaze  piercing  past  them  and  at  the  wall  behind  them.  he  doesn't  even  notice  he's  been  zoning  out  until  he  can  feel  his  companion's  eyes  on  him.  “  what?  ”  he  asks,  immediately  snapping  out  of  it and bringing a palm to his face.  “  sorry,  were  you  saying  something?  ”

⋆.°    ᝰ.ᐟ     when astrid doesn’t hear a response from the person next to her,  she finally glances up.  the look of someone running on very limited sleep is one she’s able to identify right away.  and she really doesn’t miss her residency days.  “  i asked if you wanted coffee,  ”  she holds up the cup of coffee towards spencer.  “  or a redbull,  monster,  celsius  ?  ”
