What if after Homelander outed Soldier Boy as his dad, the interest in their father-son dynamic increased to the point where people are begging to see them work together. So Vought arranges a team-up mission (similar to the one with Starlight and The Deep) where at the end they're surrounded by cameras and microphones and they both know there's this expectation of them being the ideal, wholesome father and son superhero duo.
Homelander doesn't expect his dad to go along with this bullshit at all, so gets more nervous than usual, he awkwardly smiles and stutters his words. However, much to his surprise, Soldier Boy naturally answers the questions, smoothly puts his hand on Homelander's shoulder, looks him in the eye and goes "my boy here is always making me feel like the proudest father on the planet". The cameras flash and Homelander can hear the paparazzis going wild, but it's all muffled, he can hear his heartbeat pounding loudly in his ears, and oh no, is his face getting hot? He puts on his best smile and looks into the camera, just for the photos, of course. Not because he couldn't handle to look into Soldier Boy's beautiful green eyes anymore without feeling himself get redder. And maybe a bit misty-eyed.
On their next team-up mission, Homelander goes "uh, about, last time..." but Soldier Boy instantly interrupts him with "shut the fuck up" so he drops the matter.
Things get worse and worse (or better?) for him because, did Soldier Boy get some media training without him knowing? He's way too good at this, he smiles sweetly at him, compliments him, and, just like the first time, touches him like it's the most natural thing in the world. Pats his chest while going "that's my sturdy son", ruffles his hair, and shockingly, even lets him take off with him in his arms for the cameras.
On their way "home" (if you can call it that), Homelander waits for his dad to say something, to tell him to hurry up or to drop him already somewhere near since the cameras are no longer watching. But Soldier Boy is completely silent, which is scarier than if he just rejected him like usual. He can't read this man at all. He could go faster, the silence is unbearably awkward... yet, he doesn't. It feels nice, flying with his father in his arms. Too nice. Soldier Boy's body is so warm. He smells so good. And he can feel his calm heartbeat close to his.
If only this... could last forever...
Still, he's been wanting to have a talk with his dad, so he starts speaking. "You... you know, you don't have to go that far with this farse..."
Soldier Boy remains silent, so he continues. "I... can drop you somewhere here! We don't have to go all the way to the tower! I know you... hate it, to be carried by me, like this..."
But Soldier Boy only tightens his grip on Homelander, and, after a pause, finally speaks.
"Just keep going. It's... faster, this way."
