(This has spoilers of the ending)
Ok look, im starting to think the trial part was added-last as an way to make the game seem longer. The delay of the game was bullshit as well cutting the credits off.
A lot of people complained that it seemed out of place (Both the trial itself and the jade-teal cart). And if you take out it the game has almost the same length of the first game.
A lot of characters felt out of character compared to friendsim, If the trial was written before the character’s friendsim it makes no sense to make them so different in a game that was made to introduce us to them. But even if it was written after why they act so different?
And like, if you go through concept art, to the beta troll call to the last trailer and pics from the game theres just SO MANY THINGS THAT CHANGED in such a short span, the last trailer we got was 1 year ago and they cutted two entire character!
And the pic we got for the steam page (Now removed) Doesn’t even look like the finished game! So like, I suppose the game wasn’t even finished there? Also someone pointed out they tought zebede’s and Charun’s hive are from two cutted characters, the beekeper and the fisher troll/Gatherer. And like, I think they are half right! Its their hive! What I think happend is that the team didn’t wanted to remake their entire hives again, again Zebede replaced beekeper and Charun the gatherer. So they already cutted time by not redesigning anything for them, but still they got entirely removed? Im really interested to know if their files/codes are even in the game or they got removed entirely. Also I must remind that the original hiveswap also went in a LOT of changes, yet they delivered a full game that has the same lenght as this one (cutting the trial off, again). The original game was going to be 3D and they scrapped everything off for 2D. And also there was already concepts for the next act and it was already set in a train, so I supposed they already planned most of the stuff right?
Well from what it was leaked from concept art, we just have pics from the train station, it seems that the ticket guy was also cut entirely and joey and xefros would initially sneak around, but Joey’s horn design was basically unchanged
also HERE, this concept looks like the most old one, bt it seems like the train station, it reminds me of the train crash in the last part of the game a bit? But regardless I really want to look in the game files to see if they left any traces of cuted content behind, because im really starting to think they cutted more than charun and zebede and added the trial to compensate the time they cutted off.
Plus they have mentioned an ‘internal file’ where they keep everything when someone asked about joey’s age. So I assume they have everything wrote down for the game, those concept arts where out even before act 1, so like, they had more than just 3 years to work on act 2, bcz they had concepts of it even BEFORE act 1.
Other point: I think they lied again when they said act 2 was delayed so much bcz of coding. If they said it was for art and animation reasons it could have been easily debunked since half of the fanbase is in an art/animation area, but coding is harder, and it looks scary! So it was more easy to fall for it. Hiveswap interactions aren’t that diverse compared to the first game, from what a friend pointed out hiveswap’ entire code is based on just ‘if’. Example: ‘IF I talk with (Marvus) then I unlock an interaction’ ‘If interaction confirmed, unlock the exit’
Then just add a rigidbody on the background so they can interact.
PLUS THEY HAD A LOT OF ANIMATIONS AND MODELS SINCE ACT 1?????? The models from the friendsim trolls are the same of the trollcall, like the trollcall trolls ARE THE MODELS
And theres so much more, and I think taking a look on those ‘internal files’, concept art we never saw from act 2, or even the files of the game that got cut out, I think we would see EVEN more how much more they left out. I think an excuse of ‘they didn’t got time’ is shit, they had a hundred short-cuts, delayed the game for YEARS and everyone was ok with that thinking they would get a fucking finished game. If we are going to wait more 3 years to something like this quality again I don’t think people will even care more about hiveswap.
Plus I have theories about the cut-off credits, I think its a combination of all of those:
1- They didn’t wanted to see the amount of people working on the game, cuz then it would be inexcusable with the amount of people working in the game we got an unfinished product
2-Theres problematic people working in hiveswap they don’t want us to know it, which could have been fixed with nicknames or anonymous crediting with permission. Also its not surprising at all.
3- They forgot some people’s name or don’t know how to credit them, so they decided to just not credit anyone. A lot of people that work left and/or where freelancers. But heres the thing: Its shitty?????????? They could add credits for everyone else and then try to communicate with the people they work or add them if they contacted them when the game launched. And again: They have an internal file where I suppose they write down everything of hiveswap, I *suppose* they write who works and worked too?
The harassment excuse was shit since they mention James and Toby worked in the ost and we know half of the people that are involved on it, also theres a bunch of artists saying they worked on hiveswap so.....Im going more with the 2° and 1° option, but the 3° sounds like something they would do.
It sucks so much cuz act 2 could have been such as great as act 1, and even as we got it there is still a lot of nice parts and we can see the effort of a lot of people that worked on it, cutting the credits off was awful??
If they spent the right time working in the right stuff we could have gotten such an wonderful game, but here we are! Half of the cast they promised was not even important, friendsim is almost useless since the characters that interacter feel out of character shown, the game itself doesn’t progress and the progress we did didn’t matter since the train was blown up at the end, what was the point????????? It just don’t destroy the basics of what was promised and hinted but also basic storytelling ! You just don’t make your goal that you worked the entire fucking game useless????? You know 1 character dies for it??? and theres just NO WAY to save them???? Its inreversable compared to Lynera and the reason why they died becomes almost for nothing at the end, it is just a big fucking middle finger. I really want to think this got rushed for a good act 3, and that the characters we know and the new ones will get relevance there, but I also doubt after this. We will get a violet troll call and from what it was said, it will be right after act 2, so we will get new characters! When half of the last ones announced barely got worked on in the game....
