" boy’s gaze will fall toward the floor ; perhaps he’ not the BEST planner , especially when it comes to dates , but he certainly tries . he’s just ... prone to follow the feeling . see where the day takes them , & run with the vibe . “ i dunno , it was just an idea . ”
kevin still didn’t understand what exactly was going on, not understanding why this was happening and why they were in a town just as lame as his own. he rolled his eyes at every building, most of them reminding him of the riverdale equivalent which also made him sad. this situation was looking more and more permanent by the day. he missed his life when he was able to hunt the threats to riverdale and the days when he was able to practice weapon usage with his best friend betty cooper.
kevin was running in the woods, deciding to blow off whatever steam he could. for a moment, kevin could immediately sense that someone was behind him. rule #1 in hunting is to always assume the worst (according to his dad). within seconds, kevin had grabbed a knife that was hidden under his socks and on the verge of throwing it until he realized archie andrews was standing beside him.
“goddamnit, andrews. you of all people know that you can’t just walk up behind me without saying anything.” he exclaimed, clearly a little shaken up. “but. on the bright side, you had me feeling a little bit happy that i was about to fight some dangerous creature. but hey. it’s good to see you.” @archendrws
even in hawkins , even with things being in something of a good place ... archie needed time away to THINK . this typically translated to runs when he could get them , & even with his mind weighted by the woes of the past few months ... this helped him stay HAPPY . he was happy , and for once , he felt like they could all be .
and archie andrews had never been a fan of the hunting gig . he tried it , sure . but the second his SILVER BULLETS became the near - demise of his best friend --- he was done . he was finished . NOTHING was worth that . there were other solutions , he was sure of this .
so , yeah . archie andrews could fight . but that didn’t make him a FIGHTER . he would never be a hunter , he’d never fit the mindset of assuming the worst and killing for a solution .
thoughts are put to a rest when he’ll finally spot a familiar face --- KEVIN KELLER , from back home . he’ll give his friend some semblance of a smile , shaking his head --- “ it’s good to see you too , kev . i think it’s nice , though . things haven’t been this normal in what feels like FOREVER . how could you not miss this ? ”
(¸.• ♛ → A small smile was on her lips, at least people here are not that bad, however, the girl really wanted to find answers but she wasn’t sure if he knows what’s going on right now and she didn’t want to see crazy or anything. “I don’t think so, I’m just almost new here so everything is just a bit strange for me.” The raven haired girl admitted. “Sorry, my manners, I’m Veronica.” The girl extended hand for him.
a smile painted for the girl , brushing off her worries with a calm demeanor . “ hey , i’m new too , i totally get it . ” & for a moment , his mind will race to veronica lodge --- to her transformation & vendetta against his very own best friend , to their FIGHT at the abandoned carnival , to the papers claiming her & reggie as the TRUE riverdale rippers . he’ll shake his head , extending his hand to her . what was in a name , anyway ? “ i’m ARCHIE . archie andrews . ”
(¸.• ♛ → “Oh, wow, I’m sorry.” The girl said when she bumped into someone, she wasn’t like this but honestly, she was just too deep into her own thoughts, the fact about being here was one thing that she got over, but she was just trying to find out what the hell is going on here, that was all. “My head is somewhere else, I promise, usually I’m not like that.”

☆ﾟ*·ﾟ┊ kj apa , he / him + 20 , cismale ┊ ❝ isn’t « ARCHIE ANDREWS » totally tubular looking ? they seriously remind me of a character from « JUGHEAD : THE HUNGER » . i started seeing them at « BENNY’S BURGERS » a few « MONTHS » ago , humming to the tune of « JUKE BOX HERO + FOREIGNER » when they think no one’s looking . also , they’re like totally known as the « GOLDEN BOY » of town , so i’d keep my eye on them . seriously . ❞
alright , so i know a lot of people don’t know much about jughead : the hunger ( which , omg . it’s so good . pls read it . i love u ) , so i’ll do a run down of arch’s history in the comic ! otherwise , you can read the series HERE for free , or read about the series HERE .
* ⟡ ⋮ ❛ 𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 .
archie’s story picks up like any other day in riverdale --- he’s in a booth with the gang , they’re grubbin’ on some burgers , fries & milkshakes , and all seems to be well ! it’s just ... a killer known as the riverdale ripper is at large , and so the gang’s got a newfound curfew forcing them home a little earlier than usual .
little ol’ archie will walk himself home that day , but ... he doesn’t want to be alone that night , not after the news of yet ANOTHER victim falling prey to the riverdale ripper . so , regardless of curfew , he’ll walk to jughead’s house . it’s in this moment that he’ll watch his BEST FRIEND of NINETEEN YEARS transform into ... a fucking WEREWOLF . archie proceeds to watch as jughead murders one dilton doiley .
this ... obviously leaves arch in hysterics . he runs toward home that night with SOBS choking him , his mind racing , unable to even BEGIN to form a cohesive thought . before he knows it , he’s racing past his house , trying to make sense of what he’s seen . he wants to believe it’s his imagination , but ... it was real . it happened . jughead jones was the riverdale ripper ... but it wasn’t just that . he was a WEREWOLF , of all things .
of course , archie doesn’t sleep that night . just , runs it off until he feels like he’s able to muster SOME type of plan and accord . the following morning will find archie andrews sat on the steps of the andrews household , in the same clothing as the night before , eyes fixated on the pavement in front of him , tears still staining his cheeks .
it doesn’t surprise him when jughead shows up that morning , & the first thing arch does its tell him that he knows . it’s just ... he hasn’t quite worked out WHAT jughead is , nor is he really given the time to process it before his next closest friend , BETTY COOPER , shows up , punching jughead straight in the face . archie does his best to stop betty , but she’ll push him back , & fucking hell is archie even more confused than before . when betty pulls out a gun , archie will draw a line . archie will step between his friends , declaring that if she wants to kill jug , she’ll have to kill him FIRST . in this moment , archie finds some sort of clarity . he announces that , despite betty’s notion that archie has no idea what he’s dealing with , he believes knowing he’s dealing with a FRIEND is enough . he’ll ask betty to let him in on what’s up , and a long line of jones werewolves & cooper hunters is revealed .
that’s right , archie’s two best friends are sworn natural ENEMIES , & the worst part ? betty reveals she’s always known jughead’s secret , & that it’s the reason she became friends with them in the first place --- to play a part , befriend jughead’s group , & spy on the werewolf boy . she claims it’s grown beyond that --- that she cares for them , which is not what she planned , but ... archie can’t help but feel hurt . he wonders if any part of her was ever real , but in the moment is more concerned with finding a compromise for his two friends . this is when he’ll find a solution --- wolfsbane , from the riverdale botanical garden , to subdue jughead’s werewolf persona , & thus save their group from ruin .
of course , the wolfsbane works . it’s just ... archie supposes jughead is never truly the same after everything , because one minute , things are back to normal , and the next , they’re just not .
as for the rest of his story , long story short is that betty will train archie to fight like a hunter --- from teaching him to shoot a gun with silver bullets , to hand-to-hand combat via her uncle’s help . in no time , arch is ready to kick ass , it’s just ... he doesn’t exactly want to .
archie & betty will only find jughead after they hear of another gruesome murder at a traveling circus nearby riverdale . they’ll tack jughead down , finding him with ANOTHER werewolf by his side ( jug’s cousin , bingo ) and both betty & archie will attack with the help of some fellow cooper hunters .
during this battle , archie somehow shoots jughead enough times to nearly kill him , & this is where he finally draws a line in the sand for himself . after some long , hard thinking , he’ll confront betty . he’ll spew tales of nostalgia & the good ol’ days , where all the gang had to worry about was prom dates & essay grades . now , he may have killed his best friend . and that does it for him . he doesn’t truly believe betty misses those days like she says she does , and while she might be alright with this life , he is NOT . he’ll slide his gun over to the girl , & though he has to talk himself into it a thousand times over , he turns his back on betty cooper that night . at least , for now .

the unfortunate truth is that betty’s facade was not the only thing archie andrews fell for . he fell for her , for the memories they made together , for the girl next door who was supposed to be one of his best friends . now , he’s left wondering what was ever real in all of this , & it freaks him out . the girl he thought he had figured out was not that girl at all --- and it’s not that archie doesn’t accept how things are , now . as the series goes on , he’ll tell himself she’s always going to be the same betty he fell in love with . it’s just ... the issue is he DOESN’T know the truth , & it seems like neither of them are in the business of confronting it . at least , not yet .
for the time being , archie’s just looking at the swap to hawkins as a gift from god . he can avoid his problems a little longer while he’s here , and maybe earn some semblance of the life he’s missed so dearly . this is encouraged after meeting one SABRINA SPELLMAN . there’s something familiar about her attitude , about the way she carries herself ... they’ll start a fling in no time , & archie will settle with the notion that he’s happy this way . ( it’s just ... archie andrews is naive as FUCK . he’ll never be satisfied without jughead , or betty , or pretending things are fine . it’ll always be him , alone at night , left wondering what exactly the truth is , & there’s nothing more powerful than that ) .
more to come , i’m just ... tired & this comic is a lot to explain ok . hopefully this gives a good base of where things currently are , tho !!
“ —- in my defense , this cat has a mind of his own . ” cue her going on her toes , picking him up from the other’s lap / shoe , a small glare in her eye at the cat . “ sorry about salem , again . i really ought to start closing the windows of my apartment , hmm ? ” she jokes to the best of her ability , with t he SQUIRMING black cat in her arms .
“ hey --- you’re fine , ‘rina . promise . --- he’s sweet . ” all smiles for the girl , & arch will stroke the cat’s fur gently . salem likes him , he thinks ... though there’s the notion that it’s merely archie’s cologne attracting the black cat .
Ethel liked working late at the theater, usually, especially when she got to run the projector. It allowed her peace and quiet, to play films that she couldn’t play during the day. Tonight, however, was an exception. She’d had to play hostess to a late night premiere: Under the Cherry Moon. The theater was empty as could be, save for a small cluster of Prince fangirls and an overeager couple down in front. She couldn’t blame people for not showing up, the film wasn’t good, but she was unbelievably bored.
When the door opened on her little projection booth, she turned and prepared to talk to her boss about the bad ticket sales. She relaxed, though, upon seeing who it really was. “You’re not supposed to be up here, y’know.” she teased, grinning a little.
“ --- shit , i’m so sorry , totally did not mean to come up here ... ” leave it to ARCHIE ANDREWS to lose his way to the bathroom ! ( though , in all fairness , he’s rather sure there used to be a bathroom this way ... ) “ this is sick , though ... ” dark hues will circle around the boooth , focus suddenly drawn to the screen separating the two of them from the rest of auditorium . he’ll take a step closer to the edge , attention fixated on the space below them . “ these have gotta be the best seats in the whole theatre ! ”
IT WAS ONLY day three on the job and already tammy thompson felt as if she had radioshack figured out. all there was to do was clock in, make sure the computers were running, the radios transmitting, and the phones receiving before she would plop atop the stool behind the counter. every now and then a mother and son would walk in looking for toys and gadgets, businessmen would come in to inquire about their new cellular or car phones, and every now and then she would be kept busy with a walkie talkie that had been dropped off the day before to fix. a majority of the time the store was near silent and all you could hear was the ticking of the seconds that felt more like minutes, and eventually, when all work was done, you would fall into a dream state that lead you to forget where you were, what time it was, and what was going on. tammy was near it when she finished up all the tasks scheduled for reparation and in retaliation she would come up with the idea of plopping in a new cassette tape to liven the atmosphere, ❝ what’ll it be today .. ? ❞ she muttered aloud as she shuffled through her options, unaware of the figure that entered the store not long before, as her back stood to the door.
archie andrews was not KEEN on figuring out technology . he stuck to what he KNEW , these days , & that was when he had the time . apparently , everything going on with jughead was enough to keep him distracted to the point where , before this afternoon , he hadn’t pulled out his turntable ( that’s right ... TURNTABLE . he still hadn’t fully bought into casettes , at least not yet . he really IS his father’s son . ) in at least two weeks . of course , when he finally has a chance to use it , he’ll find the needle’s been compromised , rendered OBSOLETE & in need of a replacement . he doesn’t mind the short drive to radio shack , & when he finally arrives , the first thing he’ll do is seek a worker to help him on his QUEST for a replacement needle ! when he spots one , he’ll pause behind the girl for a moment , careful not to interrupt . clearly she was preoccupied , & he can’t blame her ! STILL --- he’ll glance over her shoulder , curious to see what’s up . “ got any FOREIGNER in there ? i could go for some juke box hero right about now . ya’ know how it goes , right ? ” his smile is EARNEST , & he’s about this close to singing the song for her .
