everything that dislike in this world will continue to exist .
some of this will be old , some of this will be new . some of this will be unaware of statements , some of this will be entirely aware .
everything that dislike in this world will continue to exist .
there is no way to control that . this is why suggestions of tag filters float around , so that those who need to block out can block out .
this is also why need to start to question if persona-tied characters really worth trouble , or if need to create beyond . when character names draw from public persona name , when people reference drawings off of real life face , discomfort is understandable .
but , everything that dislike in this world will continue to exist .
know some of this is foot in mouth - can not always know how statements will come across to general fanbases , and sometimes hard to pick out actionable criticisms from heated vents , thus hard to know how to address . this is especially true if deal with these things for first time .
easy to ask why not all fans would just sit down and listen , but genuinely need to think about numbers . each of those numbers is someone else who is also real ! even small sections of that , like section that keep tuned on twitch regularly , or section that join discords , would still fill out plenty of real life chairs .
each of those people can find personal value in stories , and that might relate to relationships . to ask that this stop outright might be enough for some to disengage entirely , as feel interpretation of work is no longer encouraged . others will instead be spiteful , happily continue and just block social profiles to prevent access . either way , that is loss of direct audience engagement .
ban in personal discord server , in personal chat , in spaces that actually have control of , is actionable . ban across entire fandoms is not .
some people feel happy to take action , to enforce social contract of this ban , supposedly on behalf of creators . that action tend to look like graphic threats and slurs , not friendly reminders . words like no witch hunts and no harassment will will not deter this behaviour when premise of such wide ban feel like justification .
some might not even really be fans , just jump on chance to act violently , but whether or not " true fans " is not important - impact is , and have to face that this impact is overall not good one . some people who enjoy work either now feel less able to do so , or no longer want to risk direct interaction , while people who want to act violently feel permission to act violently .
just hope will learn from this .
