Hey ducklings, sorry for the long hiatus, life has been lifing but I'm back.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I'm an Eyekon who's younger than the members in terms of age (I'm 16) and I don't really wear 'revealing' clothes, I stick to wearing more casual clothes like hoodies and long skirts because that's more of my vibe. Also, this isn't me trying to hate on anyone, not really, but to give my insight and maybe give some people fresh eyes.

For context, I was scrolling on YouTube and I saw a video titled 'Oversexualisation of Katseye' or something (I forgot the name of the YouTuber but don't attack them). I forgot what they said but they referenced the Gabriella dance practice and Lolapallooza (don't know how to spell it), specifically the outfits and talking about Yoonchae, because she's the maknae. I wasn't going to say anything because I respect people's opinions and that video isn't the only one that has been talking about Yoonchae or the other members and the outfits they wear because there's been a lot of discourse... But something about the video rubbed me the wrong way and I was going to comment on it but I didn't because I didn't want to be classified as a hater, because it was a long form video and not a short, but I was literally thinking about it last night and if I don't get it out in some way then it's gonna keep bugging me and I have a book to write.

The girls all wore shirts, a pair of shorts and boots in the dance practice for Gabriella. They wore clothes in the dance practice... I didn't question it because, guess what? I was looking at THEIR faces and the dance itself, not what they were wearing.... Oversexualisation where? I don't really see anything wrong... Unless y'all wanna confess something 🤨

Yes, some of it is the manager and the company that chooses the outfits and I understand that some companies don't give their maknaes longer clothing options like Hybe (?) does... But it's a shirt and a pair of shorts for a quick dance practice video?... What's so 'Sexual' about that? Why are you, presumably a grown adult, looking at Yoonchae, a minor, in that manner and then getting mad because she's wearing what she wants? Like, it's only 'sexual' if you make it so.

And then y'all like to defend yourself by saying stuff like 'We're just trying to protect her from creeps' and yeah, I understand... But maybe it's the creeps that should be held accountable, not Yoonchae for wearing a simple shirt and pair of shorts. And the babying 😐... Y'all do know she ain't a toddler, right? She's a grown teenager who can make decisions for herself and can choose what she wants to wear and SHOULD NOT, under any circumstances, have to be hit with backlash from people telling her to 'cover up because of creeps'... Like actually trying to shame a 17-year-old into covering up for wearing something as simple as a shirt and shorts because PDFs exist? Perhaps the call is coming from inside the house and you should check it because why are you objectifying a child like that? Why is your first thought to seeing a girl dancing in a shirt and pair of shorts 'Too sexual'? 🧐 Maybe, instead of protecting Yoonchae by criticising her outfits, y'all should look within yourself first and hold the Creeps y'all talk about to account.

Besides, Yoonchae barely wears anything that could be considered 'concerning'. In most of the official Katseye videos and dance choreographies, she's usually wearing trousers or a longer dress/skirt compared to the other members like the official Gabriella Dance Choreo, which I love for her because she slays. I've seen people talking about the Mariah Carey Christmas Suit she wore when Katseye dressed up as Mariah Carey's songs... Which wasn't even that 'tight' or 'revealing' as claimed so I don't know what y'all yapping on about 😑

'Oversexualisation' and it's just a woman wearing a shirt and pair of shorts. If I, a 16 year old girl who isn't that big on 'revealing' clothes, don't see anything wrong or 'sexual' with a Global Girl Group wearing shirts and shorts in a short dance practice video then Adult Eyekons shouldn't see anything wrong either... Unless y'all have something to admit 🧐

Yoonchae isn't a 5 year old so stop treating her like one who can't make decisions for herself. Even if she was a 5 year old, she should still be able have the autonomy to wear what she wants without getting criticised for being 'sexual'. Y'all aren't her parents so stop acting like you know better.

But this is just my opinion and I'm not Yoonchae or the Katseye Members so can't speak on her behalf and neither should any of y'all. Just as I could be wrong, so could y'all.

But I just think that if a 16 year old doesn't see anything wrong with a couple of girls wearing pieces of CLOTHING then neither should other people and if you can't look at Yoonchae or other maknaes without objectifying and criticising what they wear instead of holding actual PDFs accountable then I think you should take a step back and evaluate yourself because what do you mean you're borderline shaming a 17 year old girl for what she chooses to wear but not addressing the mature adults with too much free time and a suspicious search history? 🤨🧐😒😕💀 make this make sense

it's my mother's birthday today so we're going to my grandparents' house to celebrate... I'm an introvert by the way who doesn't like to socialise and I don't really see my family that much... Also I'm like the 'black sheep' middle child out of my cousins (I don't have siblings) because I'm not the oldest but I'm also not the youngest.

But don't worry, I have a few books to read, my notebooks in case I want to write and my emotional stuffed animal (the same one I got on my birthday) if things are getting overwhelming...

No, I haven't been living under a rock, I know mostly all of the catchy songs and the story... I just never properly sat down and listened to it

I'll keep my review brief but I LOVE IT SO MUCH and so much more than I previously did!

I have many favourite moments but my newest favourite is Lafayette's bit in Guns 'n Ships and Hercules Mulligan's whole section in Yorktown, it was SO HYPE!

... The last 2 songs had me WEAK!! Especially with Eliza in the last song... I don't think you understand, WE WOULDN'T HAVE HAD THE MUSICAL WITHOUT HER!! ORPHANAGES PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN A THING WITHOUT HER!! If it wasn't for ICE and big orange man, I would probably go to see the orphanage She established AND THE MONUMENT IN WASHINGTON D.C SHE FUNDED!!

As I was listening to the last song, World was Wide Enough and previous songs, I was starting to get the general theme and message... Like with EPIC the Musical, the message was that you got to be ruthless in order to help yourself. Not to sound like an English teacher but I think the message and theme was the concept of Time and to not throw away any opportunities or your potential because you only have limited time and you don't know if your history will remember you (Idk, I'm not an English teacher)

The difference being I'm reminded that Eliza and Alexander were REAL PEOPLE who did this which ALMOST WASN'T THAT LONG AGO to put into perspective... And the crazy part? Hi ducklings, sorry for being radio silent lately but I've been really busy with college and other life stuff...

I didn't review induction day because we didn't do much but do fun activities and get a tour of the campus and a talk from the Headteacher

I'm doing Creative and Digital media

It's going alright, I feel a bit of imposter syndrome because I feel like I'm not going to be good enough... But I also don't have any other choice because this is the closest I come towards getting a Creative qualification as I didn't do well with my English GCSE... But I still feel like a fraud, not helped by the fact that we have a 6 week probation period where Teachers can see how we are doing and if they think you're lacking and not up to date then they may or may not kick you off the course (I'm slightly exaggerating but you get my point)... Also, this is Media so most of it is going to be group work... And I'm an introvert who likes working by myself

Other than that, everything's been calm... Apart from the fact that most of my classes finish at like 5:00 PM, which is a bit of shock because I went to secondary school where we finished at 3 PM

The travel is fine, it's a good walking-to-bus ratio as compared to my secondary school which was more walk than bus

Oh also, I've recently picked up reading the Third Book of the OUABH trilogy and it's not that I don't like it and I'm being very careful with how I say this because I'm a writer too, I just suck at reading... No, like, I put down the book because I wanted to prolong it so I'd have something to read during the College Year (even though I still have four other unread books, including the First Shatter Me book) then Life happened and now here I am, slowly reading again... Try not to expect a fast review or anything with this, I barely reviewed the Ballad of Never After but I quickly went to Curse For True Love... Yeah, I'm not the best at reviewing stuff 💙🤷🏿‍♀️😭

And ESPECIALLY to any Duckling who didn't get the grades they wanted meaning they may have to resit them or take a different route to the career they wanted, I just want to let you know that what you truly are as a person is not defined by the number/Letter on that piece of paper and what you got doesn't define you nor does it make you a failure because you're not. Those low marks that you got doesn't take away from the fact that you are SO much more than the strict confines of exams and for these big exam companies and Invigilators to not see it is such a loss in my opinion because we all have potential for MORE than academic intelligence and you should not be confined to such chains. I mean, I've heard there are more than one type of intelligence which academic falls under one of them and while I'm not sure of the other types, I know that intelligence is SO much more than how much you know and how much you can write in a short time limit with tight conditions of what is mark-able and what wasn't. 📝📝

And ESPECIALLY for the HelPols who may have gotten low on their final grades, I just want you to know that (not to speak on their behalf because I don't know them like that) the Gods are proud of you nonetheless, Lady Athena and Lady Nike are still congratulating and celebrating for you even if you don't feel proud in yourself ✨✨✨🌕🏛️

Listen, I'm not trying to be all happy and dandy about it (I literally got 2s-5s 💀) and I know for some, their career is technically ruined or their dream and aspirations may not be possible (it will be possible, trust 🤞🏿) because at least for me, I don't necessarily NEED a degree or qualification to be an author. However, if we're trying to be Joy from Inside Out, then at least you didn't cheat with AI 🤷🏿‍♀️

No seriously. If you are a British Citizen like me and you had to do GCSEs in a hall/gym/conference room (because I'm not sure how they do it in the US), most likely you didn't cheat because it's not worth it. If you didn't cheat but still got low on results then that's a good thing because at least you tried your best with using your brain instead of smuggling notes.

Listen, with the way AI is going, getting low on results because you forgot or didn't do much on revising is WAYYY BETTER than getting disqualified because you got caught for using artificial intelligence. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

No, I'm not behind on the Duolingo scoop and I know they're 'AI-First' and replacing actual teachers and workers with that slop. I'm very up to date with it.

Also, I'm talking about this as a person who was on and off with the app because it was taking a lot of phone storage space, I didn't really like having to do it every day but then I did commit like a year and a bit for Duolingo which got me to about 140-something streaks (I forgot 💀) and I'm not going to lie and say it didn't help me when I had it because it did, I learned a lot of German, Japanese and Chinese... Learning Greek and Korean was an actual struggle and I deleted it because I felt like I was focusing more on getting high on the leadership board than ACTUALLY DOING the lessons for its purpose and it felt like game and I know it's a 'no duh' thing but I started treating Duolingo less as an educational learning language app and more of a Sonic game which I think it's what the company wanted anyway but it led to me feeling bored, tired and it was taking up storage space on my phone... Also I was in school for this Language duration. Just putting this context out here because what I'm going to say maybe a hot and controversial opinion but I think I should say it:

I'm glad that the CEO said that with his full chest, it's almost worth a standing ovation! No seriously, I'm proud of the CEO didn't hide the truth and just laid it out publicly 'We're going to be Ai-first' because do you know how many Companies and Organisations would JUMP to LIE about this?... Too many that's for sure.

Yes. It's bad. No duh. But at least, we got an honest CEO who wasn't afraid or ashamed of confessing to firing real people over robots because there are a lot of people who will actively try to lie and say 'What? Ai? Nah, we obviously don't use that stuff' when they, in fact, do use that stuff, to basically manipulate the people and get them to keep using their product.

And even if they SUCKED at lying because they do, some CEOs and Companies will resort to the next best thing their small minds can come up with which is diversion and changing the subject... Cough cough Orange Man in the US and the Epstein Files Cough Cough... Which is just, I guess, Another form of gaslighting and manipulation

So yeah in this year of Liars and manipulators, The CEO of Duolingo being open and honest about their now robot-generated services is almost a Blessing and a reminder to us that, yes, CEOs and Corporations CAN be truthful and honest about what they do... They just choose not to or they do it in the worst way and time possible

And if you're understandably upset and disheartened by a Green Owl who threatened you for not doing daily lessons now being powered by computers because it feels like a slap in the face when you worked hard for streaks so high that it can extend Guinness World Records only to be given this as the thanks you get... Just know that there's a literal Orange in power trying and failing to divert people from the fact that he and his now dead best friend are PDFiles and had likely contributed to being part of hurting so many people... it's the best way I can explain what I know about this mess... I just know this stuff from this comedy dude called Josh Johnson on YouTube (go watch him, he's the best)

OK, at first it was fine with YouTube, Spotify, Netflix, Disney and I'll even give the bypass to Duolingo... Pre-AI.

And no. I'm not just finding this out for the first time, I know Subscriptions have been around for quite sometime but I made sense of it and didn't think too hard. I understood streaming and music services had such a feature because it actually benefited the user and company... But back then, you could still get the good stuff WITHOUT having to pay for it. Like Duolingo pre-AI, you could pay for hearts or you can practice for them and either way, you would have gotten the results you wanted, you know, learning a language.

But now it gets to a point. No because tell me WHY I have to PAY a subscription for JUST EAT?? No. I'm not kidding. You have to pay if you want a free delivery service 😕💀

And it's not Just Eat that I've now noticed this, I've noticed this before but I think A Just Eat Subscription is the last straw for me

I've seen this with websites like Canva, Cognito and SaveMyExams that just rub me the Wrong way. If you don't know what any of these websites are, basically: Canva can help you create presentations, book covers, social media posts etc with different templates, designs elements and colours to choose from. Cognito is almost like duolingo but it's great for Science and Maths learning + revision, especially for exams and they can be found on YouTube as well but they do have a website. SaveMyExams has a lot of bite size notes and past exam papers as well as mark schemes like Cognito but it's for any subject.

Now as a writer, I tend to frequent Canva A LOT to make book covers and so I'm aware of the subscription they have but at least before, you could still have cool elements without Premium but now, almost EVERY element you could use for a Book Cover is under premium and you're now stuck trying to find a way to use an 'uglier' alternative because that's all you have. I also bring this up because, as someone who had to sit exams, I've had to binge watch each Cognito video on YouTube and do the Flashcards on the website but beforehand, Cognito didn't have a Premium feature... Everything was free and it didn't cost anything, now, it only lets you do Five of everything they offer (Lessons, Flashcards, Quizzes, Exam styles questions) because you have to PAY for the full thing. Even SaveMyExams, though I only used it for a bit, you had to pay if you wanted to read the notes for a longer time or something (it's kind of a grey area because I'm not sure if that's how it had always been or not because I wasn't an avid user of it but my point still stands). It got me thinking, confused and almost annoyed when I thought more about it. Most of the users who will be on these websites are, you guessed it, Children, teenagers and young adults (Canva is also a slight grey area because there may be teachers, business people etc who use the website but my point still stands)... Teenagers, might I add, who are going through a lot of stress and anxiety about the future due to exams and I would know because I'm one of them. These Child-to-teenagers and young adults users probably won't have the money to pay for such resources and it's literally the last thing on their minds and sure, they probably have their parent or guardian to pay for them but maybe the family is strict, tight in financial circumstances and even the parents/guardians are fine with paying... Why should they? Why should SCHOOL STUDENTS have to pay for a website that can help said students pass their grades? Especially for a website that used to be free 😒... Like, I understand Duolingo having a subscription, kinda because even though children were using it, they weren't using it all the time because 9 times out of 10, they would have been taught a language by an actual teacher instead of online. And I know I'm probably sounding like a Karen/angry parent/1-star Yelp reviewer and I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be... No hate to Cognito or SaveMyExams, I just think it's weird and unnecessary that they've put a premium feature on a should-be free website because it is going to affect a majority of Students, even if they do use the YouTube channel of Cognito, like does the company not know the user analytics or something? 👀💀

Nah but the Just Eat Subscription really had it for me because NO WAY are they actually wanting people to PAY FOR SOMEONE TO DELIVER FOOD TO YOU FOR FREE, as if basically robbing you wasn't enough. No actually, they be ROBBING YOU LIKE IT'S CASUAL like, True story, I bought 2 shopping items online. Key words: Two Items. Now the original price is fine but THE FEES ARE THE REAL CULPRIT. No because I should NOT BE PAYING SUCH A HIGH PRICE FOR 2 GODDAMM ITEMS 💀💀 and they have the FUCKING AUDACITY TO BE LIKE 'If you want a free delivery service, you've got to pay a subscription'... Are you actually ragebaiting me right now? ... No because last time I checked, delivery was supposed to be convenient... The whole purpose of food/shopping delivery is that it's SUPPOSED to be cheap and convenient for the user...

Is the 'Convenience' in the room with us? Maybe the 'Cheapness' is the friend we made along the way because what the hell is going on right now 💀💀

I'm talking about this as a writer myself and as someone who is just now diving into the MXTX universe

Like, if this many people are feeling this angry, sad and fed up about Chinese Censorship limiting our our interactions with the main characters getting together romantically, I cannot even begin to imagine being the Author

Just imagine: You're MXTX, living in China, and you've been putting your blood, sweat, tears, heart and soul into your books because you love writing for your whole life and you want to share your passion and creations with the rest of the world because they deserve to be in the universe of Danmei with you. Finally, after weeks and months of writing and drawing and crying, you're finally done with your book series (Using TGCF and MDZS as examples) and it's a big victory because they're flying off the shelves by people of many different backgrounds and walks of life... But as such, you are aware of the fact that some people may not be able to get the books for whatever reason and so you decide that to celebrate this well-earned victory and spread more of your work by making the books into Donghuas and Live action so it would be easier for people to access. So you get to work on drawing and animating as well as marketing and you're doing great... Until you're told by Chinese Authority Figures that you'd have to basically change the relationship of the very gay male leads who are indeed husbands to a 'Bromance' dynamic because 'it doesn't fit with traditional morals'... And you do because you are a good law-abiding citizen... But now you're just sitting at your desk, probably crying silently as you reluctantly change the way YOUR characters interact with each other because not only is this painful to you, having to basically watch as your very creation basically gets torn into this box even though the whole storyline of your books is to do the opposite, but to your fans who are inhaling and loving your content just as much as you do. This piece of art that YOU'VE spent your whole soul on, you created the characters, you pulled all-nighters to focus on the world-building, you spent every waking moment on plot, the fantasy, adventure, action and romance aspects... Is now being adjusted because censorship suddenly hates lovers.... Your characters that are basically your children and are blatantly in romantic love with each other now being pushed into this 'Bromance' role that can't even enough to explain the depth of emotions that they have for their partner because let's be real, waiting for your husband for 800 years, making statues of him and terrorising 33 Heavenly Officials because they mocked him can NOT be described as 'Bromantic' love because it's too much of an understatement for a one-eyed red-outfit ghost king who looks like a pirate who DEEPLY loves his God Husband who can control ribbons, it hurts... Knowing that you can only give your fans and audience crumbs of content because anything else may be censored. But, like your book characters, you don't go down without a fight so you continue to make your books into donghuas and a live action and you put every little hint of romance that you know would go unnoticed by censors but would be key indicators to your fans that the Romance is 100% there and it works for the most part once the donghuas are released.

I'm not trying to act like I know MXTX because I don't. I'm not trying to act like I know her thought process, her feelings or even how she got the Censorship information because I don't. I'm not her so I'm not trying speak on behalf of her. I just feel like, especially as a writer, that would likely be how I would feel and react if I was presented with such an obstacle and if I was to put myself in her shoes as a Published Author then I feel like what I described, while not totally accurate, could be a step in the right direction to how she was actually feeling.

And I know the 'solution' would be to probably move to a country that doesn't have censorship and I would say that ... But I don't know her situation nor do I know how bad China is with people leaving and even if everything was fine and she was able to move... Where would she even go? America is shit, The UK isn't doing great either, I'm not sure about anywhere else and that's kind of a not thing to say because She probably grew up in China and she has built close community and fellowship that she can't just leave behind because how can you. Nonetheless, I do hope MXTX is in a good place and she'll be able to post her content freely even with censorship because everyone deserves to know how amazing she is as well as how talented her books are 📚🙏🏿✨🤞🏿

To me, it is that deep. Like, just think about how much more we would have gotten if it wasn't for censorship and I'm not saying that I'm not grateful because I am, crumbs is better than nothing and I'll take anything I can get because a win is a win... I'm just thinking about how heartbreaking it probably was for the author to have to cut some scenes to fit the Donghua and to ALMOST have the script of the Live Action of MDZS be a LOVE TRIANGLE between Wei Ying, Lan Wangji and Wen Qing... Yeah, a love triangle between 2 CANONICALLY GAY HUSBANDS AND a maybe AroAce coded woman who only cares about her younger brother, I had a comment tell me this and I was shocked from the fact that THIS would've happened if it wasn't leaked and people protested against it... Like, again, imagine you're MXTX and you're making sure the live action of YOUR novel series does good... Only to find out that the director of YOUR VERY GAY BOOK SERIES was going to privately change the script and change the whole male lead dynamic from already understated bromance to a whole love triangle, likely without your knowledge or Consent... Yeah, I'd mad at the director and relieved that the script was leaked to the public BY the public... 😡😡😡😡😤😤😤🤬🤬🤬👿👿👿

From one Writer to a published Author, I genuinely feel so very god awful for MXTX and I just want to give her a hug because it's not fair or right to how the work YOU spent so much on be broken and torn apart like this and I know I'm probably being dramatic and over exaggerating but... I'm now scared of releasing my own works to the world just in case this stuff happens to me and my writing... But in a way, I'm also inspired by her resilience to keep the content going and that motivates me to keep writing because if she can sneak past censorship with grace to give us the creation she work hard on then I can also keep writing my books with LGBTQ characters as leads and I hope it also inspires other creative people to continue making stories of canonically WLW/MLM queer characters without shame because that's what we're here to do, to make share art, stories, music etc no matter the backlash because that is part of what makes us Creatives, regardless of the medium and NO ONE should take that away from us, no matter if they're authority figures or not and I know I'm saying this in a way that sounds like we're the fricking Avengers even most of us can't even afford rent even with a full-time job but that's because we are. We're just as powerful, special, important and significant as the other career fields 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
