most of the time i forget gihuns dead bc i choose not to think of s3 but when i remember, the thought is so painful. i cant handle the way he died, all miserable in the same place that destroyed him
I find solace in the idea that he lived as he died, and that he wouldn't have it any other way. Sacrificing himself for what is right, to send a message, and to save the life of an innocent who bears so much potential (can it be argued that she had more potential than he did? I disagree with that stance, but I think Gi-hun might've thought so). And the child was a surrogate for his own daughter, someone he repeatedly failed and hated himself for.
It was a tragedy, everything about Gi-hun's life is a tragedy. But he died as he lived, according to his values and on his own terms.
