When you suddenly find yourself facing multiple (massive) deadlines within 1 month

When you are editing a chapter you wrote a while ago and suddenly no longer agree with your own arguments...

When you get asked to contribute to a companion on literature!

When you have successfully stuck to your writing schedule for over a month

When you know you have to delete a paragraph, because it will make your argument clearer....

And one part of your brain is so ready for it...

When you are trying to critically engage with an essay and you suddenly discover that the scholar only ever implies what he means and never clearly states what his argument is.

When you are trying to summarize into one paragraph a theory which took the original philosopher three volumes to explain.

When you get a new supervisor whilst you are quite far into your PhD and she makes it clear that she hates your writing style.

Literally relying on willpower to get through a day of research, because you are down with a really, really bad cold, but have a deadline coming up...
