When your emotions are water, there are only two things you can do: Sink or swim.
 (If you are like me, you have concrete feet and are prone to sinking.)
 The tides of your turning feelings will break and churn and this, this is how you live when your emotions are water.
 And when your emotions are water, all you want to do is be able to grow gills and fucking breathe. But you can’t, and you’re not a fish nor are you a mermaid, so all that’s left for you to do is let yourself turn blue in the face and let the water wrap its aquatic hand around you throat and flood you from the inside-out. Sometimes your emotions will be a lake. You will be a weekend getaway, or a day-trip, but never somewhere someone stays full time. You are only a vacation. Or they will be a pool, and you will have to be pumped with chemicals to be clean. 
 Or they will be an ocean, and be home to so much incredible life, and thrash and crash against warm sand before racing back to where they came from.
 Or they will be ice, and you will be frozen. 
 Or they will be rain, and come down in lines of drizzle before pouring down in angry pellets. And even sometimes when it’s sunny out, they will be rain.
 Or they will be puddles, and be stepped in and splashed in but still reflect rainbows.
 Or they will be a tsunami, and you will destroy everything in sight. 
Or they will be a hot springs, and you will turn hot and steam and boil and nearly explode. But people will still find this entertaining. 
 Or they will be a river, and run under bridges and between rocks and create white rushing waves that cannot be stopped by anything put in its tracks. It will always break the dam.
 But when your emotions are water, remember this too: 
 You have the power to cleanse.
