Woah, some stores don’t stock your size? The whole clothing industry is out to get fat people, of course. It has nothing to do with the fact that larger clothes require more material, and the extra material costs aren’t worth it because only a small percentage of customers would actually buy that size. And obviously, there are thousands and thousands of stores for people who are a size 2 (UK6) and under, and definitely no stores for plus size people! OPRESSIONNN!!!11!!
Oh, and there’s definitely fat oppression in the fashion industry! Plus size models definitely don’t exist and size zero models are never ever insulted or told they’re making people starve themselves, and no model has ever ever been refused a job purely because her weight was too low! THIN PRIVILEGE!!!1! OPPRESSION!!!1!!
Has anyone actually bothered to think about what oppression is? Oppression is what women in the Middle Eastern countries face. Oppression is what black people faced in the 1900’s. In some countries, you can be stoned to death for homosexuality. There are people who have been MURDERED because of their gender, race or sexual orientation, and purely that. Last time I checked, no one’s ever been murdered because they’re 50lbs overweight.

and the hilarious part is that whenever I voice my opinion in the outside world I get loads of hate, because I’m ‘society’s puppet’. I’ve been told I’ve been ‘eaten by society’ for fucking standing up for thin people. It sickens me that some people think they have the right to go on and on about how horrible it is that there are thin people in magazines or runways but as soon as I pipe up and say hey, I know that it’s not right to discriminate people who are overweight, but thin people are people too, I get called an asshole, a bitch, whatever.
Yeah, so a year ago or so I did a presentation for our english class on how I think that if we really have to get rid of underweight models, we should replace them with models who are still pretty skinny but are a healthy weight & are toned and fit, and not overweight because being overweight’s just as unhealthy as being underweight, I get hate/snide remarks for people I actually thought I was on good terms with. (Yeah, I think we should be putting ‘healthy skinny’ models on the runway. Actually healthy role models with healthy weights so when people lose weight or whatever, they actually know what healthy looks like. )
Like people thought it was entirely okay to ask me ‘do you think x size is too fat?’ and ‘so you think everyone should have anorexia?’. And then, a few months later, I stood up for smaller sizes on a status on FB and got told, by a friend who KNEW I had an eating disorder that I had been ‘eaten by society’ (it was in another indirect status but it was clearly aimed at me).
So what if I want to stand up for skinny people? I have a fucking eating disorder, I know what it’s like to be called a stick or for people to make fun of bones poking out from my skin and no one says anything to them, but as soon as I call someone who was being a bitch to me fat I’m suddenly the spawn of satan. I actually know what ‘equality’ means.
