ADONIS, in Greek mythology, beautiful youth beloved by Aphrodite and Persephone. He was born of the incestuous union of Myrrha (or Smyrna) and Cinyras, king of Cyprus. Aphrodite left Adonis in the care of Persephone, who raised him and made him her lover.

                “You want to get coffee?”

         “ Coffee? I believe gin will be much more entertaining.”

   “Dorian–  would  you  indulge  me  in  being  my    subject  for  a  portrait?  I  have  not  seen a face    such as yours, to not paint it would be a tragedy.”

      To hear such compliments fall from his new friend’s lips,          the boy’s cheeks could not help but turn a rosy pink as          his lips parted with excitement “ A portrait?” He paused          for only a moment “ Yes of course that sounds delightful!”          Dorian’s face lit up as the words left perfectly formed scarlet          lips “ May we start tomorrow? I simply could not wait more          than a week to begin-or rather more than a few days time.          No, I really could not bare it!” the boy had always been a          fan of the artist’s work, admiring the delicate brush strokes          and the beauty every piece captured, though it never really          interested him terribly until now, now that he himself was to          be the muse, the beauty in which the art recreated.

           ”You don’t look like you belong                   around here.”

        “ I’m afraid I know quite a few who may disagree with you.”             The hint of a smirk tugged at the corners of his pink lips,            “It is awfully misleading to judge a book by its cover don’t             you think? “ he grinned, taking a seat across from the being             that addressed him, “ Either way I appreciate the compliment,             even if I cannot say the same for yourself”
