i like the phrases "it's not for me," "it's not my thing," and "i'm not the target audience" because they're the most concise way to express "this thing that you enjoy has merits but idgaf about it" without being aggressive

semi-related i really wish people would disentangle "bad" & "unethical" & "illegal" & "inadvisable" & "annoying" & "ugly" & "harmful" etc. like we're going to get nowhere by presuming a 1:1 equivalency of these things across the board lmao

anyway… if anyone is looking to improve their reading & writing skills, i highly recommend this article by celine nguyen, which analyses the opening paragraphs of good essays to understand how and why they work. focuses on nonfiction but could apply generally i think
