Places in the world are cooking people alive but don't worry, I have finished another sweater
And some of you madlads wanted to see the inside
I am once again in this situation
On to round 2. Now to decide between actual finishing or dismantling and removing the beads.
Hey, I never showed yous what I ended up doing
It was still eighty billion ends to sew in but now I can wear them in shoes π
And here's the one that got me booted from the competition, didn't finish in time.
Pattern called Whiskey Ahoi (free!) I recommend checking it out if you love unusual construction. They start at the heel and go out.
Was pretty disappointed to get these in a "sock yarn" mystery bag (it's single ply. wut.) Started grannying them and now I'm inspired. Look at that.

'Unraveling AI's 'Knitting Bullshit'
Yesss. Burn it with fire.
So I had all the expected feelings about this (anger, exhaustion, disappointment, grief, etc) and went away to live my life and touch yarn and try not to obsess.
And then I realized two days later that this hits a lot (way, way too many) of the same points that I'm running into with the current state of K-12 science education curriculum in the US.
So now I'm having a whole lot of feelings actually.
Yuuuuuup.
Also, if anyone doesn't recognize the name, Kate Davies is a great knitting pattern designer, most known for those cabled owls patterns. Personally, I recommend the Carbeth:
Also available as a kit from the KDD shop.
The key feature I keep seeing from gen AI evangelists is that they just cannot believe that experts exist. They often do agree that AI isn't all that great at one or two fields they know a lot about, but it can totally do at least the low-level work in others.
But it can't. It regurgitates common prejudices and tropes. It writes samey, boring essays that say nothing. The art it makes might occasionally get the hands right if we tweak it enough...
But it will still think that knitting is only done by a fantasy of 1950s tradwife whiteness.
Petered out in sock madness a bit and picked this up again. It's clearly supposed to be ugly, so all the mistakes that come with my unskilled crochetmanship are fine to stay aren't they.

This is a scrappy style sweater. Gauge isnβt important,itβs meant to be over sized and comfy! The size would differ slightly using differen
Sun hasn't come out in days but I guess it's well lit enough for glamour shots. Sock Madness round 2, I took the last spot on my team.
Family tragedy is preventing me from spamming my instagram about them so here, you get to see my new boys (Gus the normal one and Jacques the fluffy one)

My friend updated her shop with lots of new beautiful yarns, take a look if you're in the market

This ridiculous thing was very fun to make. One down one to go.
Hey !! Love the deliciosa jumper, it looks amazing ! What pattern did you use, I'd love to recreate this !! xx
Thank you! The pattern is called Deliciosa and it's published by brooklyn tweed. It's a nice pattern, worth the price tag.
I love those plaid socks you made!!! Do you by any chance have advice on like what of yarn type/size is best to use for socks / needle size (?) every pair ive made wears through almost instantly ive gotta be doing something wrong π also how do you balance the extra tightness of color patterns with the stretchiness you want from a sock? Yours just looks so clean and uniform :D really awesome work β₯οΈ
Thank you! I've been doing socks for a long time and trial and error along the way has taught me a lot.
As for wear, they say tight gauge is important, but everything wears eventually. You can try doubling up your yarn just in the spots you get the most wear. I save my most precious creations for around the house only, no shoes! I also know of people who purposefully knit toes and heels in a different color so it's easy to cut them off and reknit when holes form.
I use any old sock yarn (fingering weight, around 80% wool content 20% plastic) and pretty much always size 1.5 (2.5 mm) needles and magic loop. Some sock yarns are sturdier than others and I tend to avoid merino because of how soft it can be.
As for the stretchyness needed for colorwork, I can't achieve that in a sock using magic loop (I have very tight gauge on ML) so I use very short circulars, 10 inches around or smaller. The doubled fabric from the stranding does help a little with durability but it's still a pretty loose gauge so I try to be careful!
My Deliciosa sweater is done and I even managed to make long enough sleeves

An approved (very fraternal) pair.
I finished one sock madness qualifying sock and took a photo against the absolute most patterned background in my house
My friends wanted to see the inside (because they are freaks)
