New Year Old Me
What I detest about the New Year is how everyone creates these regurgitated changes for self-improvement that usually involve superficiality. These are all vices or things that they don't approve of, and you've done or read these typical resolutions before. I'm going to lose weight, get buff, quit smoking, or the most lazy one of all: I'm going to make this year the best year ever. Saying something doesn't make it so especially if you're not going to put in the work.
I don't make resolutions--I make anti-resolutions. Despite what people say I find that most people are willing to change small things about themselves to adapt to certain standards. It's easier that way and there's less of a fight. It takes courage to resist and to be unapologetic. So here are my anti-resolutions.
I refuse to let another person make me feel defeated.
Sometimes in moments of weakness the walls come down and I will mull over negative comments. What they say will linger and almost poison my mind, and I start to believe what they say as truth. I am doing myself a disservice by giving their opinion more than a second of my time. No one knows what is best for me but me. I'm a private person so chances are they are incorrect with their assumptions.
I will not feel sorry for myself because I'm sick.
I developed Crohn's Disease a couple years ago, and I can't say that it's not extremely difficult and painful, but I cannot stand when others constantly whine about their illnesses. No one is going to feel sorry for you, and why would you want them to? There is little worse in the world than knowing someone pities you. Sometimes it hurts so bad just to be alive, but you know what sucks even worse? Not having a career and being poor. Not being a positive role model for my daughter. A lot of people have been dealt bad hands in life and I'm not special, so I'm being an adult and dealing with it. My life is not defined by my illness and when it is that is when I've lost the battle.
I will not stress over my physical appearance.
Since I've been on Remicade the medication has been wreaking havoc on my body. I've gained a few pounds now that I'm digesting some food(some). I bruise and bleed easily. I've developed the skin of a teenage boy because I'm constantly breaking out. But you know what happens less now that I started? Having 30 bowel movements a day before lunch and crying in the fetal position. I had flawless skin but now at least I'm able to leave the house some days. I think that's a trade I'm willing to make.
I will not rent in 2015.
I'm over obnoxious teenage neighbors who scream and slam doors because their mother "Just doesn't understand! Like for realzies." I'm done with maintenance inconveniencing us so they cannot fix a problem for the hundredth time. I want my own house where I can play music as loud as I want and build high fences to keep people out. The freedom to have my own garden that I will fail to upkeep, and will resemble more of an Adams Family bog. The glorious privilege to keep my BMW covered from the elements and free of people who park poorly. We have spent more on rent than we ever could have on a mortgage. Never again!
I will not regress.
My job is who I am, not just what I do. It's a very masculine thing to say but it's true. My career makes me happy and defines me. Over the past three years I've fought to get to where I am in my career through willpower and determination. I started out in a bad place to get experience, and even though it wasn't ideal I tried to learn as much as I could so I could move forward. My new position will have its own new sets of challenges but I refuse to fail. Even if this somehow doesn't work out I will start over. I cannot fail.
I present to you my macro photography equipment along with pros and cons. This is mainly my outdoor setup as I have a few more pieces for indoor shoots. Hope it's helpful!
Tiger beef fly(Xenox tigrinus). I found this guy outside on my porch yesterday so I quickly grabbed my camera. I was lucky enough that it stayed for a while so I could get a few shots. http:macro-photo.net
I've been anticipating this runway show for two weeks, and when the day finally arrived I was anxious. I'm not designed to be that social butterfly that feeds off of the energy of others; I'm shy and I do not enjoy having people stare at me. Although I was nervous I pushed myself to go beyond my comfort zone. I may not have had the best walk in the group but overall I'm quite proud of myself, especially considering I missed the practice run. I conquered my fears and I inspired myself to keep pushing my own limitations. One thing I absolutely cannot stand are the egos and attitudes of little girls--I have no time for that. I'm 28 years old and I live in the real world and possess a professional career. This is why I typically avoid females especially in the modeling/fashion industry. The people I worked with were fantastic though, and my group overall was a blast to work with.

Planthopper nymph(Acanalonia servillei). It took me an hour or so to identify what they were because I've never seen an insect like this before. I found a few clinging to a dandelion.
Greenbottle Fly(Phaenicia sericata)

Comfort zones. I'm comparable to a hedgehog. When I first meet you my spines are up and I roll into a ball trying to get away from you. After I get to know you, your smell, and I start to feel comfortable around you my spines will relax. This takes time. Even so, I still might poop when you pick me up.
African twig mantis(Popa spurca)
Popa Spurca Crassa (African twig mantis) Really beautiful shots by the way.
Thank you very much! :)
Here are some images of a jumping spider I found on the window of my pickup truck in March of 2012.  Looks to be a Phidippus species, but I’m not entirely sure which one.
That's a female Phidippus johnsoni(Red-Backed Jumping Spider). I have a male and I call him Mr. Bitey. :) Nice photos btw!

Rhino beetle.

Musca domestica, or the common housefly. They are terrible pests and carriers of disease. They have the ability to spread typhoid fever, cholera, bacillary dysentery, tuberculosis, and even anthrax. That's right the common housefly is a terrorist. http://macro-photo.net
Malagasy Jewel Beetle(Polybothris sumptuosa). A beautiful beetle from Madagasgar.

3:1 magnification of a flower. Not exactly sure of the type, but if you know I'd love to hear it! See more of my photography at http://macro-photo.net
Do you like coffee? Well so does the colorful Long Horned Beetle(Sternotomis pulchra). These beetles feed on Liberian coffee, and are located in many parts of Africa. Check out this and many more macro shots at http://macro-photo.net
